Through the industrialization since 1960, Korean housing has been developed in a uniform way which is to demolish first and then construct from the scratch. In this process, detached houses and multi-family living detached houses have disappeared without being paid much attention. The detached houses with blood or non-blood related multi-family living situations are typically popular, and worthy enough to explore for professionals right and creative solutions to enhance their values. But many of the people suffered for the expenses and the absence of the idea to enhance their housing themselves. The purpose of this research is to clarify user's demands of developing an adaptable lifespan house and to try to find the solution about the expenses of self improvement. This study used a Small group workshop Panel Method. The workshop consisted of three stage, such as the awareness of their existing residence and lease status, the needs of the housing improvements and the demands of the adaptable house. This study is expected to serve as a fundamental data to promote discussion on reuse of existing residence building and to promote rental detached houses.

As our country is currently facing "aging society," people demands for qualitively and quantitatively better social welfare services. In particular, the abruptly rapid increase in the elderly population requires various welfare services and medical care related to the elderly. It is urgent to resolve these demands. Also, IT technology in Korea is developing rapidly, and U-Health, a part of the Ubiquitous field is under the actively ongoing researches. In this paper, we studied the Elderly care system model suing U-Health technology. We designed the care system of the residential environment designed specific for the elderly. Additionally, based on that design, we studied the elderly care system using the ubiquitous technology. Since this elderly care system combines the existing community-based model and IT technology in conjunction with other mobile devices, we may supply a new care service application, thus solving the problems of the existing care and medical services.

This study aims to provide basic information about the policy and system improvements relevant to single elderly men, through an investigation concerning the use and needs of activity spaces near their housing environments. Eighteen single elderly men over 60-years-old living in Gunsan city of Jeonbuk province in Korea participated in in-depth interview, and the data were qualitatively analyzed. The results of the study are as follows: The social networks of the participants were focused on friends or colleagues, while mutual exchanges with their children were intermittently undertaken. Natural networks of the elderly were formed mainly in third places, such as parks, restaurants, or community facilities, and about a half of the elderly participants had no spatial needs, and the rest required spaces for meal services, the elderly living community, jobs, leisure/hobby activities, or facility improvements. The elements influencing use of activity spaces were access from the residence, health, social networks, and economic conditions. The results suggest the following: Exercise or leisure facilities supporting elderly mobility should be set up close to their residential environments. Senior facilities centered on systematic supports and shuttle buses circulating around the places that the elderly visit frequently should be considered. On the other hand, regular maintenance and education on residents' proper use of the facilities, and sufficient information and fee discounts for the general programs are needed so that the elderly could interact with the younger generation. From a public perspective, a rational system and policy based on understanding single elderly men's needs should be prepared for provision and management of the activity space.

In this study, main focus was analyzing whether the retired middle-aged people's life style and personal characteristics affect house selection attributes and there are any differences according to their life styles. The finding and implications of this study were as follows. The middle-aged people were trying to pursue leisurely and healthy life. Therefore, they prefer the high service quality of health, medical facilities, culture, leisure, and entertainment facilities. These trends were caused by the expansion of the five-days working styles, the improvements of the smart consumptions, the high levels of the education, and the high social and economic participations of the females. The overall changes in social, cultural, economical circumstances made them different from other generations. Also current middle-aged people were more challenging and active and they thought themselves young compared with the people of the older generation. In the future those middle-aged people's life style will be more diversified. Therefore new housing plans are necessary for the middle-aged popple to satisfy their diverse housing needs and housing circumstances. Based on the results of this study for the middle-aged people's life style and housing selection attributes after their retirement, more studies are necessary in new and different views. Furthermore diverse house supplies, housing marketing, housing policies should be provided for the middle-aged people for their retirement and need to study more their future housing satisfaction and their housing needs.

Furniture is an essential element in the area of human residence, and the necessity of system furniture suitable for the pursuit of unity in design, which clearly distinguishes the various and flexible arrangements and characteristics of space, is gradually expanding. The elderly population in Korea currently exceeds 15%, and is expected to be close to 40% by 2050. An increasing number of elderly generations are showing different behavioral patterns, such as sharing information, health care, and seeking independence from children. In order to maintain an independent daily life, a stable living environment has become essential, but as a result of a study that safety accidents caused by households increase due to a decrease in cognitive ability and physical ability, the need for a suitable household has increased. Therefore, the biological changes and characteristics of the elderly were investigated, and the concept definition, scope and limitations of system households were studied. In addition, by grasping the changes in the home appliance market and trends in the home appliance market, the design direction of system furniture required by the elderly was presented.

The present study was designed to examine the impact of socioeconomic, health-related, and health behavioral factors on the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of the Korean elderly by gender. The subjects comprised 688 men and 898 women aged 65 or more who had participated in the Sixth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey conducted in 2014. The associations of factors with the HRQoL as measured with the European Quality of Life 5 Dimensions (EQ-5D) Index were examined in a general linear model. The most influential factor on the HRQoL was depression in both men and women. The perceived health status and walking activity were also associated with the HRQoL in both men and women. The living arrangement and educational status were associated with the HRQoL in women, while the body mass index was associated with the HRQOL in men. Depression management and the promotion of walking activity are essential to the HRQoL of the Korean elderly. This study was intended to discuss the economic exclusion of the elderly, which may be experienced in a super-aged society, and to propose a method to improve the interpersonal satisfaction of the elderly through the expansion of social networks in order to overcome this. As a result of this study, first, it suggests that the method of overcoming economic exclusion and improving human satisfaction requires a high interest in women in the subject, and the elderly, low-educated, It was found that it is urgent to overcome the economic exclusion of the low-income class. Second, as a result of examining the effect of social network on human relationship satisfaction, it was found that the more women, the higher the age, the more shopping, and the smoother communication with children, the higher the human relationship satisfaction. Third, as a result of examining the effect of economic exclusion on human relationship satisfaction, it was found that the more leisure activities visited relatives and relatives, and the more paid facilities used social networks, the lower the relationship satisfaction. Therefore, it can be seen that improvement measures for leisure activities and social networks are required. Fourth, as a result of examining the mediating effect of the social network, the social exclusion in the causal relationship in which the independent variable economic exclusion affects the dependent variable, human relationship satisfaction, The relational network was found to have a complete mediating effect. In conclusion, economic exclusion and social network affect human relationship satisfaction, and it was found that human relationship satisfaction improved only when economic exclusion was overcome and social network was improved.
