  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of the leadership of the top-leader and the mid-level leader on the care burden of care workers. A survey was conducted on 400 care workers working in long-term care facilities in Seoul and Gyeonggi area. We conducted a hierarchical regression analysis to grasp the effect of the leadership of top-leader and mid-level leader on the care burden of care workers. Monthly income of care workers was significantly associated with care burden. In next step, the leadership of the top-leader affected the care burden of care workers. But, In last model 3, only the leadership of mid-level leader affected the care burden with monthly income. This findings suggested that it is urgent to stabilize the salary level of care workers, and to develop the leadership skills of mid-level leader. The improved leadership of Mid-level Leader will help to reduce jop chaos for care workers.

  • This study examined the possibility of utilizing next-generation technology, such as Virtual Reality or AI robots, in the long-term care facilities for the elderly. For the study, the Focus Group Interview was conducted in three different groups of 14 participants (care workers, social workers, and directors of long-term care facilities for the elderly). The analysis revealed a total of three topics, eight categories, and 26 sub-categories. The main results of the study showed that the use of next-generation technology could assist the psychological and emotional stability, provide curiosity and interest, and relieve the desire for physical activity for the elderly. In addition, for long-term care services staff, it could provide useful services for the elderly with physical constraints, facilitate effective management of the elderly roaming around, and enhance emotional support services. Finally, it could also help directors of long-term care facilities promote their services, educate staff, and keep up with current trends. Participants expressed concerns about the introduction of new technologies, but they generally expected that the application of next-generation technology would be positive for the elderly as well as for care workers and directors of long-term care facilities. Therefore, the use of next-generation technology in long-term care facilities for the elderly will also help develop gerontechnology.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes that family caregivers have experienced since using the Korean Long-Term Care Insurance(LTCI) system. In-depth interviews were conducted to determine how the services offered within the LTCI program had affected family caregiving and what changes they had incurred. Results from the qualitative content analysis show that the LTCI program significantly reduced the caregiving burden among family caregivers although burdens that family caregiver perceived varied greatly depending on the types of service that the family selected, and assigned family caregivers different identities and diverse roles(i.e., service user, family caregiver, certified care provider) depending on the service they use. The phenomenon of 'certified family care provider', which was not an intention of LTCI, demonstrates the practical need of elderly persons who require both care and the comfort of family and economic status of the family. Despite the positive impact of the LTCI policy on the family caregivers' burden and family relationship, the current LTCI system should be modified in order to better meet the needs of beneficiaries and their family caregivers.

A survey was made on 129 care-givers working in the healthcare facilities for the aged(care facilities, in-home facilities for the aged) located in Jeonbuk Gunsan area. This study showed that sub-factors of care-givers' job environment such as human environment, compensation system and job expertise have a significant effect on the job burnout, stress and satisfaction. This means that a well-organized compensation system, which is proportionate to the job expertise and ability for human environment, and achievement of innovative thinking, will make a positive relationship, reduce the job burnout and stress, and improve the job satisfaction at the same time. Compared to the rapid increase of old aged patients for long-term care and care-givers' real role and job in the facilities, the job specialization has to be guaranteed to improve job environment of care-givers as various beneficial workers for welfare - professional workers - and the compensation system needs to be properly systematized according to their job capacity. Consequently, the production and participation of professionals with high self-esteem may raise organizational commitment through the maximization of job satisfaction by the participation and devotion to the organization of more professionals by removing factors, which can reduce the frequent job burn-out and stress of care-givers.

Data collection was conducted from November 01, 2018 to December 31, 2018. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS Win 21.0 program. The attitudes toward caring for geriatric subjects were $3.56{\pm}.90points$ out of 5, $3.23{\pm}.74points$ out of 5 for emotional work, and $3.94{\pm}.40points$ out of 5 for resilience. The attitudes toward caring for geriatric patients were related to resilience (r= .294, p<.001). Resilience (${\beta}=.360$, p= .002) and work type (${\beta}=-.282$, p= .001) had a significant effect on the attitudes toward caring for the elderly (F=7.5355, p<.001). The explanatory power of these variables was 15.6%. The results of this study suggest that interventions may be necessary to improve the attitudes of the caregiver toward caring for the elderly.
