Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare between performance and requirements of visiting nursing care in long-term care insurance using the OMAHA system. Methods: The subjects were 72 nurses who had worked in a visiting nursing care center in long-term care insurance. Data were collected from December 5, 2016 to January 31, 2017 using self-recorded questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired t-tests. Results: Four dimensions of the OMAHA system showed statistically significant differences between performance and requirements of visiting nursing care in long-term care insurance. The requirements of visiting nursing care were higher than was performance on all 40 items of the OMAHA system. The greatest difference was in environmental domain and then the psychosocial domain. Conclusion: Based on the results, we found that the environmental and psychosocial domains were the largest gap areas. Therefore, with the reality of elderly people living alone and the increase in elderly couples, active intervention connected with the community is needed in residential areas. Further, we suggest that the OMAHA system can be utilized as an integrated conceptual framework for developing and enhancing visiting nursing care in long-term care insurance.

This study was conducted to identify the factors influencing health-related quality of life of urinary incontinent elderly women. The Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) conducted by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) was used as baseline data to evaluate how activity limitation, depression experience and subjective health perception influence the health-related quality of life of urinary incontinent elderly women. The urinary incontinent elderly women differed significantly in terms of activity limitation, depression experience, subjective health perception influence and health-related quality of life compared to elderly women without incontinence. In contrast, income and education were not correlated with either of the aforementioned groups. The subjective health perception was identified as the only factor influencing the health-related quality of life of urinary incontinent elderly women. The results of this study will serve as basic data for positive treatment promotion and development of assessment programs for incontinence patients who recognize incontinence symptoms as part of the aging process and are therefore unwilling to receive care.

The negative correlations were shown between social support and abuse, as well as between ego-integrity and abuse. The correlations were statistically significant. The social support and abuse were a significant predictor of ego-integrity. Conclusion: A program for improving social support and preventing abuse should be developed. In addition nursing intervention should be provided based on the developed program for this population.

This is a cross-sectional study that suggests ways to activate forest welfare services (FWS) by investigating the infrastructure, service status, and perception on FWS in Korea. In August 2016, a structured email survey was conducted in nation widely. The respondents were mostly directors and general secretary (75.0%). The considerable number (16.3%) of nursing homes (NH) use some floors of the complex buildings that would be difficult to have FWS infrastructure and about 30% of those without forests near the facilities. The directors of NH recognize that FWS has positive effects on the elderly. However, FWS is not an requisite of the longterm care insurance benefit, and so costly and effort-intensive that FWS has not been activated so far. In order to activate FWS in NHs, it is necessary to develop and disseminate the guidelines on FWS that anyone can easily followed. In addition, when the National Health Insurance Corporation evaluates NHs, they should evaluate not only whether there is a wandering or walking space, but also whether it has forest healing factors such as forests. It is also necessary to create a barrier-free environment both inside and outside of NHs, increasing accessibility to the toilet in gardens, paving a passage for wheelchairs and lifts in forests near NHs. Through these efforts, it is expected that FWS will be activated to provide physical, mental rest and comfort, appropriate cognitive stimulation to the NH residents at the end of life.

They were recruited by convenient sampling, and assigned randomly. The oriental nursing intervention program composed Pal-Dan-Gum as Qi-gong therapy and Kyunglak exercise. This program consisted of 20 sessions total for 10 weeks. Measures were CMI(Cornell Medical Index), Instrumental ADL (Activities of Daily Living), GDS(Geriatric Depression Scale), geriatric life satisfaction scale, and Yangseng scale. Data were analyzed by SPSS WIN21.0 using descriptive statistics, x2-test, and independent t-test. Results: There were statistically significant differences in the mean scores of physical health status (t=10.295, p<.001), ADL (t=7.571, p<.001), depression (t=-15.434, p<.001), life satisfaction (t=21.257, p<.001), and Yangseng (t=9.527, p<.001) between intervention and control groups. Purpose: The purposes of this study were to develop an elderly care nursing education program and evaluate its effect on knowledge, attitudes and nursing performance of nurses toward older adults. Methods: A quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used. Participants were recruited from two geriatric hospitals. The sample consisted of an intervention group (n=29) that participated in the educational program and a control group (n=30). The data were collected prior to and 6 weeks after the intervention using self-administered questionnaires. Data analyses utilized $x^2$-test, Fisher's exact probability test, and t-test. Results: After the intervention, knowledge and nursing performance about the elderly care increased significantly in the experimental group compared to the control group. However, there was no statistically significant difference between the groups in their attitudes toward the elderly. Conclusion: Findings indicate that to provide better nursing care to the elderly, nurses need to be able to practically apply the knowledge they have acquired from the elder-care nursing education programs in hands-on situations. To achieve this, nurses should work to change their personal attitudes about the elderly. Also, evidence-based guidelines for elderly nursing care, administrative support of institutions, and multidisciplinary approaches are required.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between satisfaction with facility, depression and ADL in elderly people residing in nursing homes. Data were collected between April 4 and 16, 2001 using a structured questionnaire which included general characteristics, facility satisfaction, depression and ADL scales. The results of this study are summarized as follows : 1. Depression and ADL showed a significant relationship(r=0.340, p=0.004). 2. ADL and satisfaction with facility also showed a significant relationship(r= 0.401. p=0.001). 3. There was no direct relationship between depression and satisfaction with facility (r=0.133. p=0.269). In conclusion, the following suggestions are made : First there is a need for continuous study on the relationship between satisfaction with facility. depression and ADL in elderly people residing in nursing homes. Second, a wide range of study on elderly people who live in home and stay at hospital in addition to those who reside in nursing homes is required.
