Developing a Big Data Analysis Platform for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises

  • Big data analysis is widely used in applications such as finance and communication, whose market size is growing rapidly every year. Nevertheless, it is rarely used by SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) since the existing services are not fully customized for them while being offered at high price. To resolve this, we develop and propose a new platform to provide big data analysis services specialized for SMEs in this paper. First, we compare existing work discussing social big data analysis, and extract service features necessary to help their marketing effectively. Then, we present a prototype system implementing the extracted features, and discuss technical issues needed to develop a complete system which are obtained from the prototype implementation.

An Adaptive Filtering Technique for Vibration Reduction of a Rotational LOS Control System and Frequency Noise Reduction of an Imaging System (적응형 필터링 기법을 이용한 회전형 시선제어시스템의 진동 저감 및 영상 주파수노이즈 저감 기법)

  • In mechatronic systems using electric signals to drive control systems, driving signals including the frequency band of the unwanted signals, such as resonant frequencies and noise frequencies, can affect the accuracy of the controlled system and can cause serious damage to the system due to the resonance phenomenon of the mechatronic system. An LOS (Line of Sight) control unit is used to automatically rotate the gimbal system with a video imaging system generally mounted on modern aerial vehicles. However, it still suffers from natural frequency variation problems due to variations of operational temperature. To prevent degradation in performance, this paper proposes an adaptive filtering technique based on real-time noise analysis and adaptive notch-filtering for LOS control systems, and verifies how our proposed method maintains the LOS stabilization performance. Additionally, this filtering technique can be applied to the image noise filtering of the video imaging system. It is designed to reduce image noises generated by switching circuits or power sources. The details of design procedures of the proposed filtering technique and the experiments for the performance verification are described in this paper.

Novel Optimization Method of Phase-Only Computer-Generated Hologram Using the Phase-Shift Characteristic (위상천이특성을 이용한 새로운 Phase-Only CGH 계산)

  • In this study we propose the novel optimization method of the phase-only computer-generated hologram (CGH), to improve calculation speed compared to the conventional method. While the conventional method is calculated using numerical analysis, the novel method is calculated using the phase-shift characteristic of Fourier transformation. In addition, the selectivity of noise filtering lets it decrease the calculation time. The validity of the reconstructed image using the novel method is verified by comparing simulation results to ideal and conventional data, and the improvement of texture and sharpness of the reconstructed image is confirmed by simulation.

Wavelet based Blind Watermarking using Self-reference Method (웨이블릿 기반의 자기참조 기법을 이용한 블라인드 워터마킹)

  • In this paper, wavelet based blind watermarking using self-reference method is proposed. First, we process wavelet transform of original image. Then, we set all domain except for the low-frequency domain to zero and make self-reference image after wavelet reverse transformation. By choosing specific domain according to the pixel value difference between original image and self-reference image, we make random sequence, use as watermark and embed. The experimental results of the watermark embedding and extraction on various images show that the proposed scheme not only has good image quality, but also has stability on JPEG lossy compression, filtering, sharpening, blurring and noise.

Digital Watermarking using Multi-resolution Characteristic of 2D Cellular Automata Transform (다 해상도 특성을 갖는 2D 셀룰러 오토마타 변환을 이용한 디지털 워터마킹)

  • In this paper, we propose a digital watermarking method using Multi-resolution Characteristic of 2D CAT (2D cellular automata transform). Firstly, we select the gateway values to generate a basis function and the basis function transforms images into cellular automata space. Then, we embed the random bit sequence as watermark in specific parts of cellular automata transform coefficients. The proposed method not only verifies higher fidelity than the existing method but also stronger stability on JPEG lossy compression, filtering, sharpening and noise through tests for robustness. Moreover, the proposed scheme allows only one 2D CAT basis function per gateway value. Since there are $2^{96}$ possible gateway values.

  • This paper introduces an interactive indirect illumination algorithm which considers indirect visibility. First, a small number of rays are emitted on hemisphere of the current pixel to obtain the first intersection. If this point is directly illuminated by the light source, its illuminated color is collected. Second, in order to approximate the indirect visibility, a 3D ray marching algorithm, which is based on a hierarchy structure, is used to accelerate the ray-voxel intersection. Third, the indirect images are denoised by an edge-avoiding filtering with a local means replacement method.

  • CAPTCHA is a technique which distinguishes human and machine using what human can judge easily but machine can't. Though Text-based-CAPTCHA has been widely used and can be implemented easily, it is less security than other CAPTCHAs such as image-based, or audio-based CAPTCHAs. To enhance the security of text-based CAPTCHA, many techniques have been developed. One of them is making CAPTCHA recognized hard using complex background or noise. In this paper, we introduce how to apply convolution filtering effectively to attack CAPTCHA and actually analyze Naver's CAPTCHA which has been used for joining a cafe with this method.

  • In this paper, we develop a vision inspection system for inspecting flaws on plastic products such as insufficient moldings, spots, scratches. The inspection algorithm for this system consist of image binarization for curved structure of plastic products, image noise removal using morphology operation, labeling methods for candidate regions and image filtering and calibration method for flaw inspection. In order to improve its performance, we also develop fast image processing algorithm based on GUI. To verify the effectiveness of this system, we conducted evaluation for the system accuracy and the inspection algorithm processing time.

  • Like the phase array based ultrasonic system, complicated electronics has been used for real time signal processing in the magnetostrictive long-range ultrasonic testing(LRUT) system. This study shows that the software approach including the phase compensation, noise filtering and waveform transformation takes advantage rather than the previous hardware approach. Furthermore, it is possible for the software approach to be able more flexible and efficient realtime signal processing. These results will contribute to a cost-effective LRUT system and analysis of the inspection data.

Spatially Adaptive Wavelet Thresholding for Image Denosing (공간 적응적 웨이블릿 임계화를 사용한 영상의 노이즈제거)

  • This paper propose the new spatially adaptive wavelet thresholding for image denosing. The method of wavelet thresholding for denosing, has been concentrated on finding the best uniform threshold or best basis. However, not much has been done to make this method adaptive to spatially changing statistics which is typical of a large class of images. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms level dependent thresholding techniques and is comparable to spatial Wiener filtering method in matlab.
