By using the current road design method that is based on the regulation about structure and facilities standard of the road and the route plan guide of a national road and the alignment optimization road design method which is studied in the inside and outside of country, this study operate the route plan of the sample study and compare and analysis the route character, consequently the current design method has local optimization that is formed the plan by the stage and the section. Alignment optimization road design has the system optimal route search. But cost function has limite that caused by construction parameter that is not included in cost function. So we design a road route included cost function in main fields. As a result, we obtain a realistic and economically road route. The alignment optimization road design model has to be made up some problems, like the change of vertical gradient in the tunnel section, though this defects it has a lot of merits as a geometric design tool, especially in the feasibility study and the scheme design.

Railway operators have given a lot of efforts to determine the railway route of the minimum cost. In order to determine the optimal alignment, the alignment should be allocated satisfying the design criteria on various geographical condition with the minimum earth works. The determination of the optimal railway alignment is a kind of combination optimization because that must consider various design elements. This study developed a numerical model to determine the optimal railway alignment with the minimum construction cost. The problem was analyzed by the genetic algorithm, and the concept of the optimal alignment was established with the results from the analyses. The methodology was applied to a fictitious rail construction section and the result was evaluated. This methodology is meaningful considering the fact that the cost for energy is greater than that of the construction.

This study developed a bus route sketch (BRS) methodology for utilizing bus route design and operation steps in practice and evaluated the feasibility of the method. The BRS methodology consists of three steps: transportation zoning suitable for the provider and users of bus transit service; determining the bus operation route based on established transportation zones and path combination; optimizing the operation route based on the estimation of route alternatives in terms of the multi-performance measures from the standpoints of bus-transit service provider and user. The results of a case study showed that the estimation scores from the perspectives of provider and user were improved significantly from 8.83 and 7.13 to 9.50 and 9.89, respectively. Because the BRS method was designated and developed to be suitable for field application for route planning and operation, the method can be used instantly and directly to estimate and adjust the on-operation bus transit line and route design.

The appropriateness of railway route design is generally evaluated by the future value corresponding to the travel demand or benefit-cost analysis. These methods may have the limitation for the reasons that all the design alternatives cannot be considered, and the differentiation between the alternatives may not be significant because the alternatives are based on the strict basic scheme such as the design criteria. In addition, the cost varies by the design elements. In this study, all the design alternatives are considered with the automatized tool and the design criteria, and evaluated with the multi-criterion decision making method. The weight for each design element with the analytic hierarchical process may be helpful to derive more efficient railway alignment.

If designed properly, street transit systems can provide many useful functions with the flexibility of serving an unlimited range of locations throughout an urban area. Over the last decades urban regions of Korea cities have seen rapidly changing travel patterns and urban conditions. Under this circumstance transit planners need frequent evaluations of its street transit routes so as to restructure or modify them rationally. It should be noted that the changing network influences passengers, operators, as well as the city itself. However, there is no proper framework with which to evaluate the street transit network comprehensively. This paper develops and provides a framework including criteria and indicators for evaluating street transit networks. Five criteria, such as network size, network structure, service requirements, efficiency of operation and the relationship to the city are presented. A number of indicators and measures representing each criteria are then suggested. As a practical example, an analysis and comparison of three minibus networks in Busan are presented, utilizing the developed measures and indicators. The results of this study will be of great use for planners responsible for transit route planning, particularly for planning of new or analysis of existing routes; their comparison with routes/networks of various cities.
This paper is to review a literature concerning Bus Transit Route Network Design(BTRNDP), to describe a future study direction for a systematic application for the BTRNDP. Since a bus transit uses a fixed route, schedule, stop, therefore an approach methodology is different from that of auto network design problem. An approach methodology for BTRNDP is classified by 8 categories: manual & guideline, market analysis, system analytic model. heuristic model. hybrid model. experienced-based model. simulation-based model. mathematical optimization model. In most previous BTRNDP, objective function is to minimize user and operator costs, and constraints on the total operator cost, fleet size and service frequency are common to several previous approach. Transit trip assignment mostly use multi-path trip assignment. Since the search for optimal solution from a large search space of BTRNDP made up by all possible solutions, the mixed combinatorial problem are usually NP-hard. Therefore, previous researches for the BTRNDP use a sequential design process, which is composed of several design steps as follows: the generation of a candidate route set, the route analysis and evaluation process, the selection process of a optimal route set Future study will focus on a development of detailed OD trip table based on bus stop, systematic transit route network evaluation model. updated transit trip assignment technique and advanced solution search algorithm for BTRNDP.
This study is to develop Bus Transit Route Analysis and Evaluation Model that can product the quantitative performance measures for Bus Transit Route Network Design. So far, in Korea, there are no so many models that evaluate a variety of other performance measures or service quality that are of concern to both the transit users and operator because of lower-level bus database system and transit route network analysis algorithm's limit. The BTRAEM in this research differ from the previous approach in that the BTRAEM employs a multiple path transit trip assignment model that explicitly considers the transfer and different travel time after boarding. And we develop input-output data structure and quantitative performance measure for the BTRAEM. In the numerical experimental applying BTRAEM to Mandl transit network, We got the meaningful results on performance measure of bus transit route network. In the future, we expect BTRAEM to give a good solution in real transit network.

This study has been performed to define the standard of runoff coefficients which are applicable to the process of route design or various public facilities design. The application of accurate runoff coefficients is very important in construction works due to the fact that the abnormal weather and torrential downpour are raising. However, in Korea society, as planner's subjective judgement of an object region status would make the application of erroneous runoff coefficients, many problems have been occurred. Consequently, in this study, we could perform terrain analysis and rainfall basins extraction with GIS technoques and suggest the application standard of runoff coefficients in accordiance to terrain characteristics and the land covers. By having the application of the study results to past flooded areas, we could suggest improved plans.

This paper use virtual running after possible traffic capacity application for optimal route location. General road is designed the design after we examine an alternate adequacy investigation and an execution design sufficiently. Various road user's requirement must be reflected from the beginning. But it is difficult to contain the various suitable design criteria because we consider the existing 2-dimension element. First of all, this study chose optimal route, used traffic assignment and 3D simulation. Then selected optimal route through the consistent road construction by analyzing road driving simulation of 3-dimension data and the urban landscape. possible traffic capacity and virtual running will be able to do the urban landscape analysis harmonizing with the environment; equally, it could be objectively solve the problem of a civil appeal.
