Wireless Network Safety Management System on LPWA-based Tram Roads (LPWA 기반 트램 노면의 무선통신망 안전관리 시스템)

  • A system to prevent disasters by collecting and analyzing environmental information such as road surface sedimentation, sinkholes, collapse risk of bridges, temperature and humidity around tram station is continuously monitored by monitoring the condition of road surface when constructing tram which is one of the urban railways. In this paper, we propose a wireless network security management system for tram roads based on LPWA that can recognize risk factors of road surface, bridge and tram station of tram in advance and prevent risk. The proposed system consists of a sensor node that detects the state of the tram road surface, a gateway that collects sensor information, and a safety management system that monitors the safety and environmental conditions of the tram road surface, and applies the low power long distance communication technology. As a result of comparing the proposed system with the LTE system in the field test, it was confirmed that there is no significant difference between the sensor information value and the critical alarm level in the monitoring system.

Surface Information Acquisition for Asphalt Concrete Pavement Using Digital Video Camera (디지털 비디오카메라를 이용한 아스팔트 콘크리트 포장 노면 정보획득)

  • In the study, there has been a sharp upward trend in road maintenance cost as the expansion of road networks increases. Running a pavement management system(PMS) is indispensable for efficient and scientific maintenance of the whole road networks with limited maintenance budgets. With a PMS, a maintenance plan should be drawn up after surface conditions are precisely examined and analyzed. The majority of the present PMSs are run by the fact that experts first examine surface conditions on sites, and then enter results into systems. However, considering the actual circumstances of the present time and the increase in paved road hereafter, it is inefficient that experts examine the whole paved roads in person and long-lasting PMSs can not be kept up. As a result, after analyzing the accuracy of 3-D coordinates representing road surfaces that was decided using multi orientation and digital photogrammetry, the average of standard errors turned out to be 0.0427m on the X-axis, 0.0527m on the Y-axis and 0.1539m on the Z-axis. It was found to be good enough to be put to practical use for maps drawn on scales below 1 :1000, which are being currently made and used within the country, and GIS data.

  • The road icing forecast and snow detection system using state evaluation algorithm of multi sensor optimizes snow melting system to control spread time and amount of chemical spread application This system operates integrated of contact/non-contact sensor and infrared camera. The state evaluation algorithm of the system evaluates road freezing danger condition and snowfall condition (snowfall intensity also) using acquired data such as temperature/humidity, moisture detection and result of image signal processing from field video footage. In the field experiment, it proved excellent and reliable evaluated result of snowfall state detection rate of 89% and wet state detection rate of 94%.

  • Black ice is very difficult to recognize and reduces the friction of the road surface, causing automobile accidents. Since black ice is difficult to detect, there is a need for a system that identifies black ice in real time and warns the driver. Various studies have been conducted to prevent black ice on road surfaces, but there is a lack of research on systems that identify black ice in real time and warn drivers. In this paper, an real-time image-based analysis system was developed to identify the condition of asphalt road surface, which is widely used in Korea. For this purpose, a dataset was built for each asphalt road surface image, and then the road surface condition was identified as dry, wet, black ice, and snow using deep learning. In addition, temperature and humidity data measured on the actual road surface were used to finalize the road surface condition. When the road surface was determined to be black ice, the salt spray equipment installed on the road was automatically activated. The surface condition recognition system for the asphalt concrete pavement and black ice automatic prevention system developed in this study are expected to ensure safe driving and reduce the incidence of traffic accidents.

  • Road surface measurement is an essential process for quantifying the degree and displacement of roughness in road surface management. For safer road surface management and quick maintenance, it is important to accurately measure the road surface while mounted on a vehicle. In this paper, we propose a sophisticated road surface measurement system that can be measured on a moving vehicle. The proposed road surface measurement system supports more accurate measurement of the road surface by using a high-performance line laser sensor. It is also possible to measure the transverse and longitudinal profile by matching the position information acquired from the RTK, and the velocity adaptive update algorithm allows a manager to monitor in a real-time manner. In order to evaluate the proposed system, the Gocator laser sensor, MRP module, and NVIDIA Xavier processor were mounted on a test mobile and tested on the road surface. Our evaluation results demonstrate that our system measures accurate profile base on the MSE. Our proposed system can be used not only for evaluating the condition of roads but also for evaluating the impact of adjacent excavation.

Development of an Automatic Transverse and Longitudinal Road Profile Measurement System (노면 종.횡단 요철 자동 측정 시스템 개발)

  • The reliable data relating to the condition of road surface is of increasing importance to deliver the road condition to driver and road management authority. This paper describes the development of a new high-speed. automatic, road data collection system, which collects the longitudinal road data with ${\sim}30cm$ interval covering full width of the road at 100km/h speed. The system calculates the international roughness index (IRI) from the collected data and displays the IRI and road profile data on the screen. To develope the system, we implement an optical range finder, advanced distance and motion detectors, and signal processing and display modules. The measurement accuracy of the system at 70km/h operation speed shows ${\pm}0.1m/km$ in the IRI for the standard road. To confirm the performance of the developed system, we also measure the IRI of a deployed highway road and compare the results with a conventional system and human eye measurement results.

Development of Road Surface Management System using Digital Imagery (수치영상을 이용한 도로 노면관리시스템 개발)

  • In the study digital imagery was used to examine asphalt concrete pavements. With digitally mastered-image information that was filmed with a video camera fixed on a car travelling on road at a consistent speed, a road surface management system that can gain road surface information (Crack, Rutting, IRI) was developed using an object-oriented language "Delphi". This system was designed to improve visualized effects by animations and graphs. After analyzing the accuracy of 3-D coordinates of road surfaces that were decided using multiple image orientation and bundle adjustment method, the average of standard errors turned out to be 0.0427m in the X direction, 0.0527m in the Y direction and 0.1539m in the Z direction. As a result, it was found to be good enough to be put to practical use for maps drawn on scales below 1/1000, which are currently producted and used in our country, and GIS data. According to the analysis of the accuracy in crack width on 12 spots using a digital video camera, the standard error was found to be ${\pm}0.256mm$, which is considered as high precision. In order to get information on rutting, the physically measured cross sections of 4 spots were compared with cross sections generated from digital images. Even though a maximum error turned out to be 10.88mm, its practicality is found in work efficiency.

  • 포장도로는 신설된 후 계속적인 차량의 통행과 기후 조건의 변화등으로 시 간이 경과함에 따라서 그 상태가 저하된다. 따라서 포장도로는 일정기간이 지난 후에는 쾌적한 차량의 통행을 보장하기 위하여 유지보수를 실시하여야 한다. 이러한 유지보수를 효율적이고 과학적으로 수행하는 것은 대단히 중요 하다. 미국과 같은 선진국의 경우 도로 신설의 투자비 보다 유지보수에 사용 되는 예산이 더 많아지고 있는데 효율적인 유지관리 시스템의 개발로 투자 비를 적정화하고자 하는 노력이 크게 증가되고 있다. 도로 포장 구조체가 도 로 이용자에게 어느 정도의 안전성, 쾌적성 및 신속성을 제공하고 있는가를 평가하는 것은 포장관리의 중요한 고려사항이며 그 결과는 포장의 공용성 개념으로 표현된다. 포장상태 조사시 포함되는 항목들은 포장유지관리 시스 템을 운용하는 기관마다 약간씩 차이는 있으나 대체로 노면조도, 노면장애, 구조적 능력, 미끄럼저항등이다. 이중 진동계측장비가 많이 사용되는 항목은 노면조도와 구조적 능력평가 부분으로서 이 두 항목에 포함되는 진동 계측 장비와 그 이용방법에 관해서 논하고자 한다.

  • Distress data, IRI, etc. are important factors in the evaluation of pavement condition. Recently, the need to consider tire-pavement noise in PMS (pavement management system) is raised. Generally, tire-pavement noise highly depends on the characteristics of pavement texture. Therefore, estimation of texture characteristics may give useful information to predict tire-pavement noise. Measurement of MPD (Mean Profile Depth) by using PLP (Portable Laser Profiler) provide very fast. The texture characteristics by means of MPD can be in a short time. hence, It can be a good alternative to give noise information, if MPD and tire-pavement noise have robust relationship. In this study, MPD and tire-pavement noise were simultaneously collected on the number of asphalt section to evaluate the tire-pavement noise due to the pavement texture characteristics. A set of statistical analysis was performed to propose relationship between tire-pavement noise and MPD for asphalt concrete pavement.

교통지리정보의 교통안전시설물 관리시스템 설계 및 구현

  • 교통지리정보시스템(TGIS:Traffic Geographic Information System)은 지리정보시스템의 서브시스템으로서 도로교통법 상에 규정된 신호기, 노면표시, 도로표지와 중앙분리대, 방호책, 도로 반사경, 기타 시설물과 같이 지상에 설치된 교통안전시설물을 관리한다. 이 연구에서는 교통지리정보를 위하여 교통안전시설물 관리시스템을 설계하고 구현하였다. 아울러 시스템의 구현 방법을 제시하고 구현된 결과르 실제 현상에 적용시켰다.
