Transient Analysis on Heat Transfer of Rocket Engine Combustion Chamber Considering Film-cooling (막냉각을 고려한 로켓엔진 연소실 열전달 비정상 해석)

  • Transient Analysis on heat transfer of rocket engine combustion chamber and wall temperature variation was carried out, especially, calculations of LOx/kerosene rocket engine with/without fuel film-cooling were conducted. Convective and radiative heat flux inside combustion chamber wall were calculated by the empirical equations for rocket engine combustion, and conduction of wall interior was calculated by numerical method with 2D axisymmetric grid. In this calculations the transient variations of wall temperature, the location changes of peak temperature and so on affected by film-cooling were analyzed.

  • An apparatus for measuring the refrigeration capacity of cryopump refrigerators including the pulse tube type being developed domestically and the GM type has been designed, manufactured, and tested. The refrigeration capacity of a commercial refrigerator was evaluated for confirming the measurement procedure and the operation performance of the apparatus. The measured 2-D refrigeration capacity chart showed the intrinsic characteristics of the refrigerator model used in the experiment. In this paper, design specifications and test results of the refrigeration capacity measurement system is reported and discussed.

  • This experimental study has been conducted to investigate the effect of the flame holder on the multi-slot film cooling in the ramjet combustor. The turbulent wake which is generated by the flame holder on the entrance of the coolant flow path affects on the slot. Adiabatic film cooling effectiveness on the downstream wall of the slot exit are measured. The results show that the film cooling performance is rapidly decreased after the slot exit by shear layer and high turbulence intensity between separated flows and coolant flows.

  • The detector is an uncooled detector system that functions inside the thermoelectric cooler (TEC) equipped with features instead of the cooler. The function of the thermoelectric device to control the temperature of the detector based on a function of temperature to prevent degradation of image quality to perform the role, the latest technology trend by removing the thermoelectric device size, cost a lot of effort to reduce has been studied. In this paper, It would be proposed of the actual test result using real chamber environment of for the best TECless algorithm as to minimize the degradation of image quality and obtain the low price of the uncooled detector.

  • An optimal fuel manifold is suggested to improve the cooling performance of an injector face plate. The cooling performance at the center area of the injector face plate is to be augmented while the spatial injection uniformity is maintained. The comparison of the cooling performance of f candidates gives the conclusion that the dividing plate from 2-3 injector .ow to 9-10 injector. row is an optimal. The maximum face plate temperature decreases by 27$\%$ while the injection uniformity is close to that of the original design. The pressure drop in the fuel manifold of the optimal design is also same as the original design.

  • A liquid rocket engine(LRE) Using LO$_2$/LNG(Liquefied Natural Gas) propellants was experimentally evaluated. The purpose of this study was to investigate the performance of the LO$_2$/LNG rocket combustor that is composed of three sect ions(igniter spacer, cylinder and nozzle section), especially focused on the influence of regenerative cool ing effect in association with the phase of regenerative coolant Series of tests were conducted under the conditions of water cool ing and regenerative cool ing with LNG in the cylinder section and independent cool ing with water in the igniter spacer and nozzle sections. Parametric studies on the variation of a chamber pressure and mixture ratio were undertaken. In addition, effect of propellant(LNG) composition and its enthalpy on the performance is examined.

  • The mixing characteristics of pylon injection in a Scramjet combustor and effects of film cooling to protect pylon from air-heating were investigated. Three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations with $k-{\omega}$ SST turbulence model were used. Fuel hydrogen and air were considered as coolants. There were remarkable improvements of penetration and mixing rate with the pylon injection. There was also over-heating on the front surface of the pylon without film cooling. The coolant injected parallel to the front surface of the pylon protects the pylon from over-heating.

  • The leading countries in nuclear technology development are concentrating their efforts on the development of Sodium-cooled Fast Reactor, which is one of the Generation-IV nuclear reactor systems characterized by a sustainability, an enhanced safety, proliferation resistance, and improved economics. Especially, the Republic of Korea is developing a Sodium-cooled Fast Reactor equipped with metallic-fuel. This type of fast reactor has superior inherent safety and passive safety characteristics. Further, sodium-cooled fast reactors enable the reuse of spent fuel and the closing of fuel cycle, thus, it increases the sustainability of nuclear energy. Many countries are planning the deployment of sodium-cooled fast reactors before 2050 in their energy mix.

  • The battery pack which is a main component of E-scooter needs the cooling system because it is the matter of battery safety in spite of the incresing of charge efficiency due to decress the internal resistence in the condition of high temperature. The purpose of this study is to analyse the effects of cooling methods which is the control of air's inlet and outlet operating timing. When each battery had large temperature deviation in the battery pack, the difference of battery's performance and efficiency were appeared. In this study, the cooling performance of battery pack has been improved by changing the operation timing of inlet and outlet fan, it improved the performance and efficiency of battery. The numerical analysis using a commercial code ANSYS CFX version 17.0 were used for the study.

  • The friction and deformation of a tire causes heat generation, which causes a temperature rise of the tire. This temperature rise can be a source of tire damage. The object of this study is to investigate the cooling effect of the application of a fin to the tire side to suppress the temperature rise. Eight different fin shapes were considered, and the sidewall surface temperature reduction owing to the cooling fin shape was numerically analyzed. In addition, the flow characteristics and heat transfer characteristics of the vortex of the pin rear were compared.
