LES of breakup and atomization of a liquid jet into cross turbulent flow (비정상 난류 유동장에서 수직 분사 액주의 분열 및 기화에 관한 LES)

  • LES(Large eddy simulation) of breakup and atomization of a liquid jet into cross turbulent flow was performed. Two phase flow between a gas phase and a liquid phase was modeled by a mixed numerical scheme of both Eulerian and Lagrangian methods for gas and liquid phases respectively. The first and second breakup of liquid column was observed. The penetration depth in cross flow was comparable with experimental data for several variant of a liquid-gas momentum flux ratio by varying liquid injection velocities. SMD(Sauter Mean Diameter) distribution downstream of jet was analyzed.

  • LES(Large eddy simulation) of breakup and droplet atomization of a liquid jet into cross turbulent flow was performed. Two phase flow of gas and liquid phases were modeled by the mixed numerical scheme of both Eulerian and Lagrangian methods for gas and liquid droplet respectively. The breakup process of a liquid column and droplets was observed by implementing the blob-KH wave breakup model. The penetration depth into cross flow was comparable with experimental data for several variants of the liquid-gas momentum flux ratio by varying liquid injection velocity.   • In the present paper, viscous flow fields around a wigley hull with appendages are analysed to study interactions between the hull and appendages. Navier-Stokes and continuity equations are solved by a finite volume method in a body-fitted coordinate system which conforms three dimensional ship geometries with appendages. A Sub-Grid Scale(SGS) turbulent model is used for a calculation of high Reynolds number flow. Numerical computations has been done for a Wigley hull form at $Rn=1.0{\times}10^6$. The results show that the present approach can predict, at least in qualitative sense, the influence of the appendages upon the flow field around a ship.

  • 대형 틸팅패드 저어널베어링은 고속안정성 특성이 우수한 베어링으로서 시스템의 안정성이 매우 중요시되는 터빈발전기 등 대형 고속 회전기계에 많이 사용되고 있다. 그런데 이들 대형 저어널베어링에서는 유막의 온도상승이 매우 많고, 유체의 흐름이 거의 난류영역에 이르기 때문에 베어링의 운전특성을 정확하게 예측하기가 어려운 실정이다. Hopf & Schuler는 대형 틸팅패드 저어널베어링에 대한 실험적 연구에서 유동상태에 따라 베어링의 온도분포가 서로 달라진다고 발표하였다. 대형 틸팅패드 저어널베어링은 구조적으로 유동상태가 복잡할 뿐만 아니라 계산과정도 까다로운 편이어서 온도상승과 난류를 고려하여 엄밀하게 운전특성을 예측한 연구는 거의 없다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 대형 틸팅패드 저어널베어리으이 운전특성을 보다 엄밀하게 예측하기 위하여 3차원 적으로 유막의 점도변화 및 패드에서의 열전달을 고려하고, 와점성계수를 이용한 난류윤활이론을 사용하여 유막의 온도상승 및 난류가 베어링의 온도분포, 부하능력, 마찰손실 등의 운전특성에 미치는 영햐을 보다 엄밀하게 제시하고자 한다.

  • Characteristics of turbulence beneath the free surface around a blunt bow are numerically-investigated. Three dimensional wavier-Stokes and continuity equations are solved for the simulations.. The Large Eddy Simulation(LES) with the external disturbance is performed to simulate the turbulent free surface flow called sub-breaking wave. The result shows that the free surface fluctuates beyond a certain critical condition and the characteristics of the fluctuation are similar to the turbulent boundary layer flow around a solid body.

  • Recent experimental data shows that an irregular fuel surface pops up during the combustion test. This may contribute to the agitated boundary layer due to blowing effect of fuel vaporization. Blowing effect can be of significance in determining the combustion characteristics of solid fuel within the oxidizer flow. LES was implemented to investigate the flow behavior on the fuel surface and turbulence evolution due to blowing effect. Simple channel geometry was used for the investigation instead of circular grain configuration without chemical reactions. This may elucidate the main mechanism responsible for the formation of irregular isolated spots during the combustion in terms of turbulence generation. The interaction of turbulent flow with blowing mass flus causes to breakup turbulent coherent structures and to form the small scale isolated eddies near the fuel surface. This mechanism attributes to the formation of irregular isolated sopt on the fuel surface.

  • 본 연구에서는 횡 방향으로 속도구배를 타내는 a=.part.W/.part.z에 대한 방정식을 3차원 운동량 방정식으로 부터 유도한 준 3차원 수학적 모델을 성정하여 해석하였다. 또한 수치 해석을 위하여 Chen에 의하여 고안된 유한 해석법과 2-방정식 저 레이놀즈 K-.epsilon. 난류모델, 그리고 Maeng에 의해 제시된 경계 공정 좌표계를 사용하였다. 그리 고 프로그램의 검증을 위하여 G.Ber geles가 수행한 실험치와 비교하여 그 타당성을 입증하였다.

  • The flow past a wall mounted square cylinder, a typical and basic shape of building, bridge or offshore structure, was simulated using URANS computation through adoption of three turbulence models, namely, the k-ε model, k-ω model, and the v2-f model. It is well known that this flow is naturally unstable due to the Karman vortex shedding and exhibits a complex flow structure in the wake region. The mean flow field including velocity profiles and the dominant frequency of flow oscillation that was from the simulations discussed earlier were compared with the experimental data observed by Wang et al. (2004; 2006). Based on these comparisons it was found that the v2-f model is most accurate for the URANS simulation; moreover, the k-ω model is also acceptable. However, the k-ε model was found to be unsuitable in this case. Therefore, v2-f model is proved to be an excellent choice for the analysis of flow with massive separation. Therefore, it is expected to be used in future by studies aiming to control the flow separation.

  • 2개의 경사 배플을 가진 사각 채널내의 열전달과 유동양상에 특성을 조사하기 위해 수치해석을 행하였다. 본 연구에서는 바닥에서만 가열된 채널 내 2개의 배플에 9개의 다이아몬드형 구멍을 설치하였다. 배플은 19.8 cm의 폭과 23.2 cm의 길이 그리고 0.5 cm의 두께의 플렉시 글라스를 사용하였다. 다이아몬드형 구멍의 크기는 $2.55\;cm{\times}2.55\;cm$이며 배플 경사각은 $5^{\circ}$를 유지하였다. 레이놀즈수의 범위는 23,000에서 57,000 이다. SST k-${\omega}$ 난류모델을 사용하였다. 누셀트(Nu) 수의 수치해석 결과는 실험 결과로 검증하였다. 유동장에 관한 수치해석으로부터 배플 구멍 근처의 유동 양상을 나타낼 수 있었고 이러한 유동장이 온도장의 특징에 크게 영향을 미친다는 것을 나타내었다. 국부 누셀트수는$x/D_h$=2.5 에서 최대가 되었다.
