  • This study aimed to investigate the differences of perceived stigma, psychological empowerment, job satisfaction according to the working hours by latent means analysis(LMA). To get the results, a survey was conducted, targeting employed people with mental illness. Key outcomes of the analysis were as follows. First, it was verified that perceived stigma and job satisfaction, psychological empowerment had statistically meaningful direct relationships. Second, it was analyzed that psychological empowerment had a partial mediating effect in the relationship between perceived stigma and job satisfaction. Third, according to LMA, full-time group showed higher latent mean values on the perceived stigma and lower latent mean values on the job satisfaction. However, part-time group showed lower latent mean values on the psychological empowerment. Based in these results, comprehensive interventions for activating job satisfaction were proposed.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between game addiction and social stigma of adolescents outside school. After examining the previous research focusing on the Public stigma & Self-stigma theory, We intended to examine how game addiction and social stigma affect each other over time, and the time causal relationship between the both. Using youth outside school panel 3rd, 4th, 5th data, This study analyzed the relationship between game addiction and social stigma of adolescents with school interruption longitudinally. The research method was analyzed by autoregressive cross-lagged model using two variables such as game addiction and social stigma using Amos25 program. The results showed that game addiction did not significantly affect social stigma at the next time, but social stigma had a significant effect on game addiction at the next time. Game addiction and social stigma have a strong auto-regressive effect, and the degree remains constant over time. Accordingly, this study suggested social co-prosperity, support from the local community, multidisciplinary viewpoints and cooperation between the public and private sectors.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of out-of-school adolescents' social stigma on smart-phone addiction through career disorders and depression. In the process that social stigma of adolescents outside of school affects smart-phone addiction, the mediating effect of career barriers and depression was verified. The subjects of this study were 318 subjects who participated in the 5th year survey of out-of-school youth panel by the Korea Youth Policy Institute. For data analysis, the correlations and mediating effects between major variables were verified. As a result of the study, first, all of the major variables were found to have statistically significant correlations. Second, the social stigma of out-of-school adolescents was found to have an effect on smart-phone addiction through career disorders and depression, confirming a double mediation. In addition, in the process in which out-of-school adolescents' social stigma affects smart-phone addiction, it was confirmed that career disorder and depression were respectively mediated, but social stigma did not have a significant effect on smart-phone addiction. Based on these results, prevention of smart-phone addiction among out-of-school adolescents and intervention methods and implications for youth coaching were presented.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a perceived elderly stigma scale for intergenerational research and practice. Although negative stereotypes on elderly population have worsened physical and psychological health of older people, there has been a lack of systematic efforts to measure and monitor stigmatic perception and behavior of younger generation on elderly people. We initially constructed a 34-item perceived elderly stigma scale, by integrating the processes of literature review and exploratory item generation. After confirming the face validity of the scale, a 31-item perceived elderly stigma scale was tested with 252 adults recruited from an online research panel. The result of an exploratory factor analysis suggests a 5-factor solution with 28 items: ability, personality, appearance, authoritarian dependancy, and family-obsession. The convergent/discriminant validity was confirmed by examining its relationships with ageism, elderly discrimination, attitude toward elderly, and respect for elderly. After a series of refinement and empirical tests, the perceived elderly stigma scale would contribute to understanding the current state of elderly discrimination in our society and to develop necessary policies and promotion strategies to eliminate intergenerational conflicts.

  • This study investigated the water extracts of fallen pear (FPWE) on tyrosinase activity and melanogenesis. In the present study, we examined the effects of FPWE on mushroom tyrosinase activity in vitro, B16F10 melanoma cell tyrosinase activity, melanin contents, and expression of melanogenic enzyme proteins such as tyrosinase. An apparent down-regulatory effect on tyrosinase activity was observed when B16F10 cells were incubated with FPWE. Results of melanin assay using B16F10 cells treated with different concentrations (50, 125, and $250{\mu}g/mL$) of FPWE showed a dose-dependent decrease in melanin content. To determine whether or not FPWE indirectly affects tyrosinase activity, we assessed mushroom tyrosinase activity upon treatment with various concentrations (125, 250, 500, and $1,000{\mu}g/mL$) of FPWE. In addition, we investigated changes in the protein level of tyrosinase by using Western blotting. Tyrosinase and microphthalmia-associated transcription factor expression levels in B16F10 melanoma cells were reduced in a dose-dependent manner by FPWE. These results suggest that FPWE reduced melanin formation by inhibition of tyrosinase activity. Therefore, we suggest that FPWE could be used an effective whitening agent for skin.
