  • The purpose of this research is to develop the high performance of solar chemical reactor for producing hydrogen by methane reforming reaction with steam. Two shape of chemical reactor is suggested: first type is filled with porous material and second type is spiral type. These reactors is installed on the dish-type thermal system of Inha University, Inha Dish-1. Performance analysis of these two reactors is conducted from getting methane conversion.

  • 일체형 원자로는 증기발생기 및 가압기를 압력용기 내에 설치한 것으로서 연결배관이 없기 때문에 배관의 파단에 의한 대형 냉각재 상실사고를 근원적으로 배제하고 전체계통을 단순화 시킬 수 있다. 증기발생기는 대부분 관류식으로서 일체식과 모듈식이 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 모듈식 나선형 증기발생기를 사용한 일체형 신형경수로의 예비 개념설계를 수행하였다. 가압기는 원자로 내에 별도의 용기를 설치하는 내장형 자기가압기를 채택하였다. 제어봉 구동장치는 핵분열 반응열을 이용한 원자로 기동을 위하여 반응도를 미세하게 조정하는 것이 가능하고 지진하중과 같은 동하중의 영향을 최소화하기 위하여 원자로용기 외부로의 돌출부분을 최소화하는 설계개념을 채택하였다. 냉각재 펌프는 Canned Motor Pump를 원자로용기 상부에 수직으로 직접 부착하는 개념을 사용하였다.

A specific shape chemical reactor is suggested : spiral type reactor. The reactor is installed on the dish-type solar thermal system of Inha University. The temperatures, $CH_4$ conversion rates, and Hz proportion are measured. At specific condition, $CH_4$ conversion rates of the spiral type reactor are about 91%, and Hz proportion are about 66%. The spiral type reactor gives reasonably good performance without any problems caused by highly concentrated solar radiation.

Conformational Analyses for Hydrated Oligopeptides by Quantum Chemical Calculation (양자화학적 계산에 의한 올리고펩티드 수화물의 구조분석)

  • The structures and energies of the anhydrate and hydrate (hydrate rate: h of 1) states of L-alanine (LA) and glycine (G) were calculated by quantum chemical calculations (QCCs) using B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) for four types of conformers (${\beta}$-extended: ${\Phi}/{\Psi}=t-/t+$, $PP_{II}$: g-/t+, $PP_{II}$-like: g-/g+, and ${\alpha}$-helix: g-/g-). In LA and G, which have an imino proton (NH), three conformation types of ${\beta}$-extended, $PP_{II}$-like, and ${\alpha}$-helix were obtained, and water molecules were inserted mainly between the intra-molecular hydrogen bond of $CO{\cdots}HN$ in $PP_{II}$-like and ${\alpha}$-helix, and attached to the CO group in ${\beta}$-extended. In LA and G, $PP_{II}$-like conformers were most stable in the anhydrate and hydrate states, and the result for LA was different from some experimental and theoretical results from other studies reporting that the main stable conformation of alanine oligopeptide was $PP_{II}$. The formation pattern and stability of the conformation of the oligopeptide was strongly dominated by the presence/absence of intra-molecular hydrogen bonding of $CO{\cdots}HN$, or the presence/absence of an $NH_2$ group in the starting amino acid.

Production of manganese peroxidase from Pleurotus ostreatus using a rotary draft tube bioreactor (RTB) and characterization of its activity (회전식 통풍관 생물반응기 사용에 따른 느타리균의 manganese peroxidase 생산 및 특성)

  • Ligninolytic enzymes were produced by Pleurotus ostreatus No.42, cultivated in a new kind of bioreactor that has a rotating draft tube with a helical ribbon. Maximum laccase (Lac) production (about 8,200 U/bioreactor) was reached after 3 days of incubation, then production decreased. Production of manganese peroxidase (MnP) in this fermenter reached a maximum level of about 8,400 U/bioreactor after 6 days of incubation. Lignin peroxidase (LiP) was not detected under these growth conditions. These results indicate that the rotary draft tube bioreactor (RTB) is compatible with large scale production of ligninolytic enzymes. MnP produced under these fermentation conditions was purified via a multistep process that included chromatography on Sepharose CL-6B, prep grade Superdex 75, and Mono-Q. This major isoenzyme was confirmed to have an apparent molecular weight of 36,400 by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), and its isoelectric point (IEF) was determined to be 3.95. N-terminal sequencing of the major isoenzyme from this fermentation was identical to that reported for an MnP3 isoenzyme isolated under different cultivation conditions, including stationary and shaking culture.

  • Particle-in-cell method which blends Eulerian grids and Lagrangian particle is utilized to solve simplified hall-effect thruster. Since this study individually tracks not only neutrons and ions but also electrons, message passing interface(mpi) scheme is adopted for parallel computer cluster. Helical movement of an electron cloud in constant magnetic field is validated comparing with an exact solution. A plasma in radial magnetic field and axial electric field in a reaction cylinder is established. Electrons do double helix movement and are well anchored in a cylinder. Ionization of neutrons by impact with high-speed electrons generates ion particles. They are accelerated by axial electric field, which forms a plume of a plasma-effect thruster.

Removal of organic Carbon, Nitrogen and Phosphorus in Wastewater based on tapered Aeration with Bacillus sp. (점감포기에 의한 바실러스 특성을 이용한 폐수의 유기물질 및 질소, 인 처리에 관한 연구)

  • This study was conducted to investigate an aeration tank with RBC process attached Bacillus sp. known as a suitable microorganism for the removing of organic carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus. An aeration tank was based on tapered aeration because Bacillus sp. was well grown in this like environment conditions. The biofilm process with Bacillus sp. as an advanced treatment process could be a best technology for the prominent removal of organic carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus if the mechanism in the process is verified. The operation conditions of DO in the tapered aeration tank were maintained as $1.2{\sim}1.5mg/L$ in aeration tank1, as $0.3{\sim}0.5mg/L$ in aeration tank 2 and less than 0.2 mg/L in aeration tank 3, respectively. Lab-scale experiments were conducted, at room temperature, internal recycle rate was from 200% to 50% and returned sludge rate was from 100% to 50%. As a result, concentration of organic carbons, nitrogen and phosphorus in Period 1 (the time of Bacillus sp. adapted to environment) were decreased gradually. Ultimately, each removal rate in this biological experiment were TCODCr 94%, BOD 87%, T-N 85%, T-P 89% in Period 2. Hence, this process showed an excellent performance of the removal of organic carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus and this is an effective system fur treating of wastewater.
