  • The paper examines several classes of probability distributions with heavy tails. An (asymptotic) expression for tail probability needs to be known to understand which class a given probability distribution belongs to. It is usually not easy to get expressions for tail probabilities since most absolutely continuous probability distributions are specified by probability density functions and not by distribution functions. The paper proposes a method to obtain asymptotic expressions for tail probabilities using only probability density functions. Some examples are given to illustrate the proposed method.

  • Although the tail vessels are frequently used for serial blood sampling in rat, the definition of its vasculature remains in dispute. Herein, we investigated the number of blood vessels in Sprague-Dawley rat tail using angiographic and histological methods. Our results showed rat tail has one dorsal vein, two lateral veins, one ventral artery and one ventral vein. In the conclusion, when deciding which site is best for collecting blood, it is critical to consider the structure and features of the blood vessels to be used. This study will also be helpful for investigators to understand the structure of blood vessels in rat tail.

  • Asplenium yoshinagae (Aspleniaceae), previously known only from Japan, southwest China to Himalaya, was found in Gageo-do, Heuksan-myeon, Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do. This species is similar to A. trichomonas, A. tripteropus, A. boreale, A. normale and A. oligophlebium by having gemmae and auricle of pinna, and distinguished from the latters by distinct stipe length, stalk of pinna, acute apex of pinna, length of indusium and shape of sorus. The Local name, Ga-geo-kko-ri-go-sa-ri, was newly given considering the locality. To reveal the interspecific relationships within the genus Asplenium in Korea, cladistic analysis was performed for 22 taxa of Asplenium as ingroup and 2 taxa of Diplazium as outgroup from Korea based on 20 morphological characters. As the results, the genus Asplenium seperated strongly from outgroup, and divided into 4 clades. Asplenium yoshinagae belong to the third clade. A. hondoense N. Murtakami & S. I. Hatanaka, which contained in the second clade, had treated as Hymenasplenium, but this results supported that this taxon may be contained in Asplenium, and also, Asplenium ruprechtii, not in Comptosorus. The morphological characters and illustrations of the species are provided together with photographs of habitat.

  • To verify hybridity of Asplenium castaneo-viride, external morphology, spore morphology, anatomy and chromosomes of the species and of the two presumed parental species, A. incisum and A. ruprechtii, were examined. A. castaneo-viride usually had 1-pinnately divided frond. However, some individuals had almost simple fronds with pinnatisect basal parts similar to A. ruprechtii, while others had fronds similar to A. incisum in having oblanceolate blades and basal pinnae with triangular, 2-3 lobed apices. On the surface of the spores, sculpturing consisted of folds that were usually prominent; forming long wings, and irregular or incomplete reticulation. However, reticulation patterns varied among species. A. castaneo-viride showed a wide range of variation from sparse to dense patterns, whereas A. incisum showed only from sparse to intermediate patterns. A. ruprechtii showed from intermediate to dense patterns. The spore size of A. castaneo-viride was $54.63{\mu}m$, larger than other two species ($47.81{\mu}m$ in A. incisum and $44.22{\mu}m$ in A. ruprechtii). The level of undulation of epidermal cell wall was also different. A. incisum had the most shallowly undulated wall, and A. castaneo-viride had a pattern intermediate between the two presumed parental species. This same patterns was recognized in the density of stomata. The density of $45.91/mm^2$ in A. castaneo-viride was intermediate between the two presumed parental species ($67.00/mm^2$ in A. incisum, and $37.86/mm^2$ in A. ruprechtii). Chromosome number was constant (2x =2n = 72) as in A. incisum and A. ruprechtii. However, A. castaneo-viride showed a different ploidy level. The populations of Mt. Mai (Jeonbuk province) and Mt. Duryun (Jeonnam province) were diploid (2n = 72) which is a new record for this taxon, whereas the population of Mt. Buram (Seoul) was tetraploid (2n = 144). Conclusively, A. castaneo-viride was revealed to be a hybrid of A. ruprechtii and A. incisum based on evidence involving leaves, spores, epidermal cells, stomata and chromosome number.

  • A single specimen (700 mm in disc length) of Plesiobatis daviesi, belonging to the family Plesiobatididae, was firstly collected in the north-eastern coastal waters of Jejudo Island, Korea by using a bottom trawl on 24 October 2010. This species was characterized by having five pairs of gill openings, tail with one to three large spines, long snout length, long caudal fin, and pleated margin of nasal curtain. It is morphologically similar to Urolophus aurantiacus, but the former is distinguished from the latter by having longer caudal fin and snout length. We add P. daviesi to the Korean fish fauna and suggest the new Korean names, "Gin-kko-ri-huin-ga-o-ri-gwa", "Gin-kko-ri-huin-ga-o-ri-sok" and "Gin-kko-ri-huin-ga-o-ri" for the family, genus and species, respectively.

  • We surveyed 281 sites of tropical plants and 666 sites of fruit plants for three years (2015~2017) on Pseudococcus longispinus and Pseudococcus orchidicola which have not been surveyed domestically. In tropical plants, P. longispinus were found at 34 sites, while P. orchidicola were found at 87 sites. However, both species were not found in fruit plants. The developmental characteristics of P. longispinus and P. orchidicola were investigated under various temperatures. The female nymph of P. longispinus did not develop at $14^{\circ}C$ and the developmental period was the longest at $16^{\circ}C$ for 361.4 days and the shortest at $32^{\circ}C$ for 39.0 days. The longevity of female adult of P. longispinus was the shortest at $28^{\circ}C$ as 71.7 days. The number of offspring was highest at 177.7 at $32^{\circ}C$. The female nymph of P. orchidicola did not develop at $12^{\circ}C$. However, the developmental period was the longest at $14^{\circ}C$ for 184.9 days and the shortest at $28^{\circ}C$ for 21.5 days. The longevity of female adult of P. orchidicola was the shortest at 51.5 days at $28^{\circ}C$. The number of offspring was highest at 143.8 at $28^{\circ}C$. The net reproductive rate ($R_0$) and intrinsic rate of increase ($r_m$) of P. longispinus were 162.3 and 0.127 at $32^{\circ}C$, respectively. The $R_0$ and $r_m$ of P. orchidicola were 98.3 and 0.139 at $28^{\circ}C$, respectively. These results suggest that the optimum temperature of P. longispinus and P. orchidicola was $32^{\circ}C$ and $28^{\circ}C$, respectively. Therefore, we guess that they can never be able to survive the winter of Korea.

  • Increasing the detection probability of underwater targets necessitates securing the towing stability of the active towed SONAR. In this paper, to confirm the effects of tail wing fin on towing attitude and towing stability, two scale model experiments and one sea trials were conducted and the results were analyzed. The scale model tests measured the towing behavior of each of the tail fin shapes according to towing speed in a towing tank. The shape of the tail fin used in the scale model test was tested with an I-type tail fine and four Y-type tail fins, totaling five tail fins of the two kinds. The first scale model test confirmed that the Y-type tail fin was superior to the I-type tail fin in towing attitude and towing stability. The second scale model test confirmed the characteristics of the vertical tail fin height increase and the lower horizontal tail fin inclination angle application shape based on the Y-type tail fin. The shape of the application of the lower horizontal tail fin inclination angle showed the best performance. In order to verify the results of the scale model test, a full size model was constructed, sea trials were performed, and the towing attitude was measured. The results were similar to those of the scale model test.

  • With the development of the aviation industry, aircraft painting design also plays the role of transmitting the national image while conveying the individual image of the airline. The recognition and recognition of the national image can be obtained by building a national brand. As a result, more and more companies are using the national brand image of their own country or other countries to add value to the company. Objective: To better reflect the national brand recognition for the design of the tail fin in the future aircraft painting design. This paper mainly studies the correlation between the tail graphic elements of aircraft painting design and national brand recognition based on the tail graphics of the three major airline alliance members. Based on the prior research, the relevant hypotheses were proposed and the questionnaire was designed. Secondly, a questionnaire survey was conducted on the passengers using the aircraft, and the correlation analysis was performed on the data by the SPSS regression analysis method. Conclusion: Data analysis has a strong correlation.
