With the recent development of deep learning technology, autonomous things technology is attracting attention, and DNNs are widely used in embedded systems such as drones and autonomous vehicles. Embedded systems that can perform large-scale operations and process multiple DNNs for high recognition accuracy without relying on the cloud are being released. DNNs with various levels of priority exist within these systems. DNNs related to the safety-critical applications of autonomous vehicles have the highest priority, and they must be handled first. In this paper, we propose a priority-based scheduling framework for DNNs when multiple DNNs are executed simultaneously. Even if a low-priority DNN is being executed first, a high-priority DNN can preempt it, guaranteeing the fast response characteristics of safety-critical applications of autonomous vehicles. As a result of checking through extensive experiments, the performance improved by up to 76.6% in the actual commercial board.

DNN is expanding its use in embedded systems such as robots and autonomous vehicles. For high recognition accuracy, computational complexity is greatly increased, and multiple DNNs are running aperiodically. Therefore, the ability processing multiple DNNs in embedded environments is a crucial issue. Accordingly, multicore based platforms are being released. However, most DNN models are operated in a batch process, and when multiple DNNs are operated in multicore together, the execution time deviation between each DNN may be large and the end-to-end execution time of the whole DNNs could be long depending on how they are allocated to the cores. In this paper, we solve these problems by providing a framework that decompose each DNN into individual layers and then distribute to multicores through a global queue. As a result of the experiment, the total DNN execution time was reduced by 31%, and when operating multiple identical DNNs, the deviation in execution time was reduced by up to 95.1%.

With the development of deep learning technology, there are many cases of using DNNs in embedded systems such as unmanned vehicles, drones, and robotics. Typically, in the case of an autonomous driving system, it is crucial to run several DNNs which have high accuracy results and large computation amount at the same time. However, running multiple DNNs simultaneously in an embedded system with relatively low performance increases the time required for the inference. This phenomenon may cause a problem of performing an abnormal function because the operation according to the inference result is not performed in time. To solve this problem, the solution proposed in this paper first reduces the computation by applying the Tucker decomposition to DNN models with big computation amount, and then, make DNN models run in parallel as much as possible in the unit of hidden layer inside the GPU. The experimental result shows that the DNN inference time decreases by up to 75.6% compared to the case before applying the proposed technique.

This study was performed to develop a Kdiet-index based on the definitions and characteristics of traditional Korean food. The Korean Food Pattern Index (Kdiet-index) for diseases was applied using dietary data from the 2017 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) and the association between Kdiet-index and metabolic disease was confirmed. The study subjects were 1,971 Korean adults aged >40, and the components were classified according to 14 criteria used to establish the Kdiet-index. Main ingredients up to the top 3 were designated using dish names, ingredients, and contents using KNHANES dietary data. Kdiet-index was classified using scores of ≤3 points, 4-7 points, and ≥8 points and total Kdiet-index were calculated by summing dietary scores. Correlations between Kdiet-index and obesity, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and diabetes were analyzed. The odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) for obesity were 0.531, 0.385~0.732 and for elevated cholesterol (≥240 mg/dL) indices were 0.471, 0.282~0.788, respectively, which showed a significant decreased in the risk for each disease for Kdiet-index of ≥8 points. This study confirms that metabolically related clinical results improved significantly as Kdiet-index increased and that higher Korean food pattern indices are associated with lower risks of metabolic disease

Objectives: The role of physician-scientists who bridge the gap between basic science and clinical medicine is crucial in advancing medical innovation. This study aims to examine the educational and research environment and career satisfaction of graduate students in Korean Medicine among those who are Korean medicine doctor (KMD). Methods: This study analyzed the results of a survey consisting of respondents' composition, job status, graduate education and job satisfaction, economic conditions, career determinants, and obstacles to the career path of KMD-scientists from 65 participants including both full-time and part-time graduate students. Results: The results revealed significant differences between full-time and part-time graduate students in terms of weekly hours spent and job priorities, motivation for entering graduate school, career preferences, and desired career paths. The study highlights the need for tailored support for full-time and part-time graduate students and the importance of economic assistance in fostering KM scientists. Economic difficulties were identified as a major obstacle for full-time graduate students pursuing research careers. Tuition fees were found to be a significant burden for all graduate students. Furthermore, it emphasizes the importance of enhancing the research capabilities of part-time graduate students and improving the quality of education to foster KMD-scientists. Conclusion: This research provides essential insights for Korean Medicine colleges and graduate schools to develop targeted improvement plans and effectively train KMD-scientist.
For centuries, ginseng has been used for the therapeutic purpose in oriental herb medicine. Several studies have been conducted in the past to evaluate the effect of ginseng on erythropoiesis. However the results were controversial. We therefore attempted in the present studies to evaluate the effect of ginseng on the erythropoietic activity. In one series of experiments, the recovery pattern of peripheral blood(red cell count, hemoglobin content, hematocrit and reticulocyte count) was studied in posthemorrhagic anemic rabbits. After animals were maintained with normal(control group) or 1 gm% ginseng (experimental group) diet for 2 weeks, hemorrhagic anemia was induced by withdrawing blood equivalent to 25% of the total blood volume and then changes in peripheral blood were followed for following 30 days. In other series of experiments, we studied effect of ginseng on erythrokinetics using $^{59}Fe$. $^{59}Fe(10{\sim}40\;{\mu}Ci/animal)$ was injected intravenously after animals were fed with normal (control group) or 1 gm% ginseng(experimental group) diet for 2 weeks. And radioactivities in the blood compartments were measured at appropriate intervals for 15 days. Front these various erythrokinetic parameters were estimated. Results are summarized as follows: 1) Reticulocyte count was higher in the experimental group than in the control group after 2 weeks of administration of experimental diet. During the posthemorrhagic period, the reticulocyte count increased in both the control and experimental groups, but the increase appeared much earlier in the experimental group. 2) The posthemorrhagic recoveries of hematocrit, hemoglobin content and red cell count appeared to be faster in the experimental group as compaired with the control group. 3) The half life$(T_{1/2})$ of $^{59}Fe$ in the plasma was significantly(P<0.05) shorter in the experimental group(82.6 min, N=8) than in the control group(121 min, N=6). Plasma iron turnover (PIT) of the experimental group (1.78 mg/dl/24 hr.) was approximately 4 times greater than that of the control group(0.45 mg/dl/24 hr.). 4) The maximum red cell utilization(RC-U) was 82.1% in the experimental group ana 74.5% in the control group. Red cell iron turnover(RIT) of the experimental group(1.62 mg/dl/24 hr.) was slightly higher than that of the control group(0.35 mg/dl/24 hr). 5) Erythron turnover was significantly(p<0.05) greater in the experimental group(1.27 mg/dl/24 hr.) than in the control group(0.24 mg/dl/24 hr.). Marrow transit time of the experimental group(2.05 days) tended to he faster than that of the control group(2.84 days). These results suggest that the gingseng improves the recovery of posthemorrhagic anemia and stimulates the erythropoiesis in rabbits.

This study was performed to identify the effect of mixed bed soil on growth of aerial parts and root zone of daughter plants for nursery field strawberry seedling raising with expanded chaff. The plant height and leaf area of daughter plants were highest or largest in the mixed soil of ERH +RH (100:0, v/v), followed by ERH+RH (75:25). The higher the mixing ratio of RH, the shorter the plant height or the smaller the leaf area. A similar tendency was observed in fresh weight. Within a root diameter of 0-0.4 mm and a root height range of 0.4-0.8 mm, root surface area and volume were statistically significantly better with treatment of ERH+RH (100:0, v/v) compared to those of roots treated with ERH+RH (75:25), ERH+RH (50:50) and ERH+RH (25:75). The growth rate of aerial parts and root zone of daughter plants were noticeably lower in two mixing ratios of 50:50 and 25:75. According to the mixing ratios of ERH+CD surface treatment, the number of roots was greatest in plants treated with ERH+CD (80:20, v/v) and ERH+CD (85:15) on August 1. However, the number of roots was highest in plants treated with ERH+CD (85:15, v/v) on August 15. Root length was longest in the plant with no treatment, and drastically shortened from ERH+CD (90:10, v/v) in both surface and mixed treatment. Although root weight showed a significant difference in ERH+CD (90:10, v/v) treatment, its increase was gradual. The rate of root growth was highest in ERH+CD (85:15). These study findings suggest that the content ratios of mixed soil ERH+RH (75:25, v/v) or below and ERH+CD (85:15) are thought to be desirable for the production of high quality seedlings.
This study was carried out to find the effects of salt and other materials on the taste and fermentation of kimchi. Several parameters such as pH, acidity, salt concentration and sensory evaluation during fermentation at $20^{\circ}C\;and\;5^{\circ}C$ (after keeping at $20^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours) were used. The results are as follows: As the fermentation period increases the pH of kimchi decreases. The pH of all samples rapidly decreases to 4.2. During fermentation, the acidity at 3 hours was higher than at 5, 8 and 12 hours. For in the sensory evaluation during fermentation, kimchi salted for 5 hours showed a higher score than those salted for 3, 8 and 12 hours. During the storage period, the pH of kimchi with salted oysters rapidly decreased. A sensory evaluation done during the storage period, showed that earlier on in the storage, kimchi with salted oysters was scored higher than kimchi with other Jeotkals. The leek-added kimchi was also highly scored.

Gliotoxin, a fungal metabolite, is one of the epipolythiodioxopiperazine classes and has a variety of effects including immunomodulatory and apoptotic agents. This study is designed to evaluate the effect of zinc on gliotoxin-induced death of HL-60 cells. Here, we demonstrated that treatment of gliotoxin decreased cell viability in a dose and time-dependent manner. Gliotoxin-induced cell death was confirmed as apoptosis characterized by chromatin margination, fragmentation and ladder-pattern digestion of genomic DNA. Gliotoxin increased the proteolytic activities of caspase 3, 6, 8, and 9. Caspase-3 activation was further confirmed by the degradation of procaspase-3 and PARP in gliotoxin-treated HL-60 cells. Zinc compounds including $ZnCl_2$ and $ZnSO_4$ markedly inhibited gliotoxin-induced apoptosis in HL-60 cells (from 30% to 90%). Consistent with anti-apoptotic effects, zinc also suppressed the enzymatic activities of caspase-3 and -9 proteases. In addition, cleavage of both PARP and procaspase 3 in gliotoxin-treated HL-60 cells was inhibited by the addition of zinc compounds. We further demonstrated that expression of Fas ligand by gliotoxin was suppressed by zinc compounds. These data suggest that zinc may prevent gliotoxin-induced apoptosis via inhibition of Fas ligand expression as well as suppression of caspase family cysteine proteases-3 and -9 in HL-60 cells.
Objective: To investigate the vasodilatory effect of Sipjeondaebo-tang by inhibiting RhoA activity in vascular cells during cold exposure. Methods: Human vascular endothelial cells and pericytes were pretreated with Sipjeondaebo-tang for 30 min, followed by incubation at 37 ℃ (control) or 25 ℃ (cold exposure) for 30 min. Activation of endothelin-1-mediated RhoA in pericytes was assessed by pretreating the cells with Sipjeondaebo-tang for 30 min, followed by incubation with endothelin-1 at 37 ℃ for 30 min. Western blotting was performed to measure the expression of active RhoA. Endothelin-1 and nitric oxide release from endothelial cells was examined with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kits. The formation of stress fibers and focal adhesion complexes was analyzed by immunocytochemistry. Results: Cold treatment activated RhoA in both pericytes and vascular endothelial cells, whereas Sipjeondaebo-tang treatment inhibited this activation. Sipjeondaebo-tang treatment also reversed the cold-mediated production of endothelin-1 and nitric oxide. Cold exposure promoted the formation of stress fibers and focal adhesion complexes by increasing the expression of phospho-focal adhesion complex kinase, whereas Sipjeondaebo-tang treatment suppressed this response. Conclusions: These findings suggested that Sipjeondaebo-tang inhibits cold-induced RhoA activation and its related pathway components, including endothelin-1 and nitric oxide, in vascular cells. Therefore, Sipjeondaebo-tang could be beneficial for the treatment of Raynaud's phenomenon.
