고등학교 영어 시간을 기억해 보면 이 세상에서 가장 긴 단어가 무엇인가를 얘기하면서 그 단어가 바로 ‘Smailes'라고 했다. 그 이유는 영어 단어의 단수와 복수를 구별하는 방법이 s자나 es자를 단어 끝에 첨가하는 것인데 smiles는 길이를 표시하는 단위 중 ’mile'이라는 단어의 앞과 뒤에 s자를 붙여 mile을 앞뒤로 늘려놓았으니 글자의 길이가 여러 miles가 된 것이 smlies 이므로 이 세상에서 가장 긴 단어라고 규정한 내용들이 지금도 생생하다. 그러나 아름다운 미소를 디자인하는 치과의사들은 항상 즐거운 마음을 가진다는 사실을 생각하면 정말 smile는 가장 긴 단어임에 틀림없다. 항상 즐거운 마음으로 환자에게 미소를 간직 할 수 있는 치과진료를 대치협회 회원들이 실시하기를 바라면서 이번 달의 미국 치과의학계 소식을 간추려본다.

Ziv-Lempel 코딩 방식은 문자열이 반복해서 나올 때 뒤에 나오는 문자열을 앞에 나온 문자열에 대한 포인터로 대칭시킴으로써 압축을 한다. 따라서 이 방식을 위해서는 앞서 나온 문자열을 유지하는 사전과 문자열 매칭이 필수적이다. 그래서 이 두 가지에 효율적인 자료구조인 접미사 트리를 Ziv-Lempel 코딩 방식에 적용시키려고, 그 이후에 Fiala, Greene와 Larsson은 각각 McCreight와 Ukkonen의 접미사 트리 생성 알고리즘을 LZ77 코딩에 이용하였다. 접미사 트리를 이용한 Zv-Lempel 코딩에는 만들어진 사전, 즉 접미사 트리와 앞으로 압축될 문자열과의 가장 긴 매치는 찾는 과정이 있다. 이는 단순히 접미사 트리의 루트부터 차례로 검색해 나가도 되지만 이렇게 했을 때 걸리는 시간은 노드에서 자식을 찾는데 걸리는 분기 결정 시간에 의해 좌우된다. 즉 분기에 성형 시간 이상이 걸리면 가장 긴 매치를 찾는데도 역시 선형 시간 이상이 걸린다. 게다가 이 방법은 자기 중복(self-overlapping)의 이점을 살릴 수가 없다. Rodeh, Pratt와 Even은 McCreight의 생성 알고리즘을 이용할 때 가장 긴 매치를 바로 찾을 수 있다는 것을 발견했다. 그러나 Ukkonend의 알고리즘에 대해서는 아직 이러한 방법이 알려지지 않았다. 본 논문에서는 Ukkonen의 알고리즘에 몇가지 작업을 추가하여 전체적으로 선형시간안에 가장 긴 매치를 찾는 방법을 소개한다.

대개 전투기의 사진을 보면 주날개 양쪽 끝에 가늘고 긴 미사일이 한발씩 달려 있다. 그리고 전투기 배쪽에도 같은 것이 장착되어 있다. 무엇일까? 바로 공대공 미사일이다. 즉 하늘에서 적 전투기를 만나 공중전에 들어 갔을 때 적기를 향하여 쏘는 적외선 열추적 미사일인 것이다.

누구에게서도 해법을 찾을 수 없는 길고 긴 불황의 터널을, 바닥을 기면서 헤쳐오던 양계인들에게 연말 추위 속에 덮쳐온 가금 인플루엔자는 대형 폭탄이었다. 어렵게 살처분이 끝나고 보니 분통터지는 일이 한둘이 아니다. 만신창이(滿身瘡痍)가 된 현장에서 다시는 이런 불행이 우리 모두에게 없기를 바라는 마음에서 몇 가지를 지적해보려 한다.

Six metacercariae were found from the gill filaments of Conger myriaster purchased at Mokpo-shi in korean on September, 1996. Based on the morphology of the excysted specimen. we identified them as metacercariae of Heterophyosis continua, C. myriaster is a new intermediate host H. continua in the literature.

결핵을 이기기 위해 가장 중요한 것은 무엇일까요? 규칙적인 복약은 가장 중요하게 여겨지는 부분입니다. 그 밖에도 일일이 설명할 수 없는 많은 요소들이 있지만, 결핵환자들의 이야기에서 공통적으로 나타나는 증상이 바로 '우울함을 느낀다'는 점입니다. 최소 6개월이라는 긴 투병기간, 그리고 1차에서 치료가 끝나지 않아 장기 치료로 들어갈 때 많은 환자들이 힘겨움을 토로합니다. 그렇다면 물리적인 치료 외에 한 가지 치료가 더해져야 할 것입니다. 바로 마음을 보듬는 치료일 텐데요. 환자와 의사는 각각 어떤 마음으로 결핵에 대처해야 할까요?

Dolichoectasia is an uncommon disorder characterized by the presence of a dilated, elongated, and tortuous cerebral artery. Its main pathologic mechanism is the disruption of the internal elastic lamina. Risk factors for dolichoectasia are advanced age, chronic hypertension, and metabolic disease. It mainly involves the vertebrobasilar vasculature (or "posterior circulation"), but dolichoectasia can also be seen in the anterior circulation, particularly the anterior cerebral artery. There are no reported cases of dolichoectasia involving both anterior and posterior circulation in South Korea. Here we report an unusual case of dolichoectasia involving both anterior and posterior circulation in a young female without any underlying disease on the basis of prominent imaging findings.

써픽스 배열은 텍스트의 써픽스들을 사전적 순서대로 저장하여 검색을 효율적으로 할 수 있는 자료구조이다. 생물학에서의 DNA 스트링과 같이 긴 텍스트에 대해 써픽스 배열을 이용하면 빠르게 검색할 수 있다. 써픽스 배열은 유사한 자료구조인 써픽스 트리에 비해 적은 공간을 차지하기 때문에 생물학에서 사용하는 긴 텍스트의 처리에 유리하다. 최근, 텍스트에서 바로 써픽스 배열을 선형시간에 구축하는 알고리즘들이 발표되었다. 그러나 이들 알고리즘은 정수 문자집합을 위한 알고리즘들이었다. 본 논문에서는 고정길이 문자집합에 대해 써픽스 배열을 빠르게 구축하는 알고리즘을 소개한다. 그리고 실험을 통해서 DNA 스트링과 같은 고정길이 문자집합에 대해서 다른 알고리즘들과 구축시간을 비교하여 속도 향상이 있음을 보인다.

In the situation where the interest of the academics related to the Hyangje Samhyunyukgak is increasing, the task of identifying the identity of the Hyangje Samhyunyukgak should precede. In this paper, we will discuss the characteristics of the Hyangje Samhyunyukgak distinguished from the court style Samhyunyukgak. First, we will discuss the characteristics of instrument organization. In the form of the Hyangje Samhyunyukgak, the composition of the musical instrument is flexible. Depending on circumstances such as the geographic region or the composition of the player, the set of instruments were added or reduced. The second part relates to composition of music. Among the various pieces of music, a piece of music to be selected in a specific situation is music pieces related to the use of the piece of music in depth. In this phenomenon, the music with the greatest change is Geosangak(거상악). The music played as Geosangak repertoire showed various musical pieces that are related to various situations in different regions. Finally, I would like to discuss the problems related to the origins of Hyangje Samhyunyukgak music. Compared to the songs of Ginyeombul(긴염불), Gutgeori(굿거리), and Taryeong(타령), it is difficult to totally exclude the relationship from the local music genre. And I could guess that such a common denominator was closely related to the Jangdan.
