The aim of this paper is to reveal the ethical problem of insider trading. 'Insider trading' refer to obtaining information from non-public sources such as private acquaintances about trade secret, using it purposes of enhancing insider's financial advantages. And sometimes such a practice can be conducted fraudulently. Therefore, the focus of this paper will be on fairness or justice arguments against insider trading. And all kinds of discussion this paper are to focus the underlying consideration behind these arguments, that is, the underlying consideration about violation of ethical standards of fairness. First, one of these arguments argues that insider trading does necessarily involve defrauding general investors such as general employees, general stockholders. And economic power and unjust advantage of insider can be exercised to the detriment of this non-insider's interests. Second, another argument argues that insider trading undermines competition which is the principle of any free market. And insider trading is not only a complication in the free market mechanism, but also thwarts free competition which free markets depend. Third, the final argument argues that insider trading will be made something unfair about the concept of equal access to information. This argument argues, therefore, that to permit insider trading would be to set up stock market trading rules that are unfair to non-insiders.
Most of all the transfer of undertakings in such a service provision business as labour-intensive operation creates uncertainty of employment, aggravates terms of employment and breaks a trade union. However there are no regulations in Korea to protect employees from these undesirable situations. On the other hand Great Britain has introduced the concept of a transfer of undertakings by service provision change in 2006. It was intended to remove or at least alleviate the uncertainties and difficulties created by the need under TUPE 1981 and EU Directive to establish a transfer of a stable economic identity which retained its identity in the hands of the alleged transferee. In contrast to the words used to define transfer in the 1981 Regulations 'service provision change' is a wholly new statutory concept and distinguished from the economic entity. The new provisions seems to be straightforwards and the circumstances in which service provision change is established are clearly set out in Regulations. In this context there is no need for a judicially prescribed multi-factorial approach, as advanced by European Court of Justice like Spijkers test. The new concept of service provision change apply even though there are some minor difference or differences between the nature of the tasks carried on after service provision change as compared with before it. A commonsense and pragmatic approach is required and It is enough only to ask whether the activities carried on by the alleged transferee are fundamentally or essentially the same as those carried out by the alleged transfer. TUPE 2006 of Great Britain far exceeding the scope of the Acquired Rights Directive is full of suggestions as a model of legislation to secure a stable employment itself and favorable and fair conditions of employment. More active efforts are needed for lawmaking to prohibit a dismissal and vary conditions of employment for the reason of the transfer of undertakings itself.
Recently, security behavior of members of organizations has been recognized as a critical part of information security at the corporate level. Leakage of customers' information brings more attention to information security behavior of organizations and the importance of a task force. Research on information breach and information security is actively conducted of personal behavior toward security threats or members of organizations who use security technology. This study aims to identify factors of influence on information security behavior of members of organizations and to empirically find out how these factors affect information security behavior through behavior toward attitude, subjective norm and perceived behavior control. On the basis of the research, this study will present effective and efficient ways to foster information security activities of members of organizations. To this end, the study presented a research model that applied significant variables based on integration of Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and Theory of Protection Motivation (TPM). To empirically verify this research model, the study conducted a survey of members of organizations who had security-related work experience at companies. So, it is critical for members of organizations to encourage positive word of mouth (WOM) about information security behavior. Results show that based on the integration of TPM and TPB, perceived vulnerability, perceived severity, perceived efficiency and perceived barriers of information security behavior of members of organizations had significant influences on mediating variables such as behavior toward attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavior control and intention. They also had significant influences on organization information security behavior which is a dependent variable. This study indicates companies should introduce various security solutions so that members of the organizations can prevent and respond to potential internal and external security risks. In addition, they will have to take actions to inspect vulnerability of information system and to meet security requirements such as security patches.
The Korean economy have experienced the remarkable decreases in factor prices such as bond yields, real wage since the IMF foreign exchange crisis. This paper investigates the effects of the price changes in the factor markets on determining the level and cyclicality of industrial markups in the manufacturing industry. For this purpose, we construct a markup equation in the small open economy based on the production function including foreign intermediate goods and assuming constant returns to scale technology and AR(1) process of technological coefficient. Empirical results are summarized as the followings. The empirical results shows that the increased markups after the IMF crisis can be explained by the price decreases in the factor markets which result in lowering marginal costs. And we also observed counter cyclicality of markup, labor share and interest rates while real wages, technical coefficients, and production price index proved to be pro-cyclical. In conclusion, the price changes in factor market have contributed to the stickiness in markup fluctuation in the manufacturing industry.
A standing auditor can perform the monitoring and control activities for the opportunistic behaviors of top manager. However, for this purpose she/he must have the independence from top manager. Thus, this study is designed to analyze the factors that influences the independence of standing auditor. The independence of standing auditor as dependent variable was measured in terms of school and company ties to top manager. The relationship between the shareholding of professional top manager and independence of standing auditor, and the moderating effects of the shareholdings of related-party, institutional investors, and foreign investors were examined by implementing multiple regression and conditional moderating effect analyses. The findings present a negative relationship between the shareholding of professional top managers and the independence of standing auditor. They also reveal a positive moderating effect of the shareholding of related-party on that relationship. On the other hand, the shareholdings of foreign and institutional investors did not significant change the relationship between the shareholding of professional top manager and the independence of standing auditor. The findings imply that professional manager might be able to lower the controlling mechanism by appointing a standing auditor having low independence. Related-party as an internal control mechanism might be beneficial to reduce this effect while institutional investors or foreign investors as an external control mechanisms might not. This is the first study that examine the antecedents of the independence of standing auditor in terms of the characteristics of ownership structure. It provides a guideline for selecting an effective standing auditor with the consideration for ownership structure.
Store loyalty is increasingly being recognized as a path to long-term business profitability. Customer contact employees deliver a service firm's promises and create an important image for the firm. A major purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of customer service and product value on store loyalty. In order to test research hypotheses, data were collected through surveys administered to 300 apparel store customers. Two hundred thirty nine usable data were used for the analysis. The findings of this research are as follows: First, a employee's voluntary service(EVS) has a positive impact on interpersonal r elationship, which then affects switching barrier and store loyalty. Second, a employee's regular service(ERS) has an influence on store satisfaction, which in turn affect store loyalty. Third, product value is shown to be a significant antecedent to store satisfaction, which have a direct effect on store loyalty. The study concludes with implications, contributions, and limitations of the research and the empirical findings of this research should be beneficial to marketing practitioners and retailing businessmen in developing effective marketing strategies.
This study attempts to elucidate manifold dimensions of gendered accessibility experiences. How gender roles(household responsibilities) differentiate accessibility experiences between women and men is explored through the comparison of married dual-earner couples' parental status, using the US Portland activity-travel diary dataset with GIS-based geocomputation results of(time-geography based) space-time accessibility. First, this study shows how gender division of labor within the household still permeates current society, despite the widespread belief of the social change toward a gender-egalitarian society. Then, the study pays special attention to the way gender roles structure individual accessibility experiences of women and men differently, and, in turn, the way such accessibility experiences take a form of gendered spatiality. Gendered spatiality is examined through the analysis of accessibility space as well as activity space in order to ascertain women's home-attached and spatially entrapped characteristics. More household responsibilities throughout a day and, even more, the time constraint of picking up children at the daycare centers after work lead women's possible activity space to be more home-centered. The analysis of the spatio-temporal context of accessibility space makes gendered spatiality visible. However, the findings suggest that behavioral outcomes should be understood with an explicit awareness of constraints individuals face. It is because the revealed activity spaces can be not only an outcome of constraint but also an outcome of choice. Behavioral outcomes should not be treated as a straightforward expression of the level of constraints. It is problematic to expect that behavioral outcomes directly mirror the level of constraints. It is also problematic to suppose that the level of constraints can be straightforwardly elicited from revealed behavioral outcomes.
Recent reports about economic structure and changes show that global economy changes to rely on service rather than manufacturing. This phenomenon can be explained in two ways: the growth of service industry itself and the increasing reliance on service by other industry areas. The importance of service is indicated by the fact that the contribution of research and development, marketing, and finance to the revenue generation of companies is getting greater than that of manufacturing. This change in the economic structure calls for researchers' attention on the importance of service and the service-based economy. In the service-based economy, firms are considered value proposition providers and consumers actual value creators so that the concept of co-value creation becomes a key thesis to study. However, there are a variety of definitions of service and diversified measurements of service anchored in the supplier-oriented understanding of service yet. This lack of understanding of the service and the economic paradigm change causes a lot of problems in the areas of service productivity, service quality, and service innovation. Even though a new movement called service science started and rigorously pursues the way of enhancing the understanding of the economic change and service productivity, there is no framework that provides a unified view about the new role of service, service productivity, service quality, and thus service innovation. This study proposes a unified framework to provide a structured view about service provision and to facilitate the research on service. The framework is built on the concepts from previous studies about service marketing and service science: service life cycle and service networks including value activity network, resource integrator network, and capability network. We hope this study can be used as the basis for future studies on service science.

This study was performed to determine the musculoskeletal symptoms and its association with sociodemographic and health related characteristics, job-related characteristics and occupational stress among manufacturing workers. The self-administered questionnaires were given to 856 male workers in randomly selected 62 work places with 50 or less employees in manufacturing industries during the period from October 1st, 2011 to November 30th, 2011. Complaint rates of work-related musculoskeletal symptoms was 82%. In logistic regression analysis, significant factors related with musculoskeletal symptoms were marital status, BMI, subjective health status, alcohol drinking, job position, job tenure, experience of sick absence and visiting out-patient department. In conclusion, the study results suggested that the complain rates of work-related musculoskeletal symptoms of workers in work places of manufacturing industries with 50 or less employees were higher than workers in a large enterprise or the small and medium enterprises and it was related with sociodemographic and health related characteristics, job-related characteristics and occupational stress.
An airline should consider the number of seats or size of aircraft, when it composes fleet or selects a type of aircraft for some routes. There are two major factors considered for this choice problem under the assumption that the objectives of an airline is a profit maximization: the operating cost and revenue from the aircraft operated. This research tries to solve the problem of aircraft size selection by airline. The study applies four steps to get optimal choice of aircraft size: (1) cost analysis for the relationship between airline operation cost and aircraft size: (2) market share and revenue analysis: (3) flight segment-level analysis, based on the derived cost, demand and revenue functions: and (4) network-level analysis to see how airlines make choice of aircraft size systematically at a network level. An airline can accommodate the increasing air travel demand by either increasing operation frequency, or increasing aircraft size that is represented by seat capacity, or both. Airport runway capacity and productivity depend on the size of aircraft used at airport. This paper presents the understanding of how airlines make decisions on the size of aircraft to operate, how they will adjust their choices when airport capacity is constrained, and how public regulation such as policy for landing fees could influence airlines' aircraft choice.
