The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of push, pull and push-pull interactive factors for CFMC (Contract Foodservice Management Company)'s internationalization. The study was a quantitative study part in mixed methods (QUAL ${\rightarrow}$ quan) which was mainly qualitative study and quantitative study. Mail survey was carried out for quantitative study. For study subjects, 1,281 persons who completed 'Food Service Management Professional Program' of 'Y' University were selected as a population because the program was mainly for CFMC's workers. The analysis methods used in this study were frequency analysis, factor analysis, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis with SPSS 17.0. Push factors had the saturation in domestic market and the manager's purpose (fac.1) and the investment for internationalization (fac.2). Pull factors had the company's external environment for internationalization (fac.3) and the global network and spread of culture (fac.4). Push-pull interactive factors had the information about foreign market (fac.5), the procedure and budget of overseas expansion (fac.6) and the national network and size of domestic market (fac.7). Internal dynamics factors had the deterrents for internationalization (fac.8) and the enablers for internationalization (fac.9). The result showed that the company's external environment in pull factors had positive effects on the deterrents for internationalization. The global network and the spread of culture had positive effects on the enablers for internationalization. The information about foreign market in push-pull interactive factors had positive effects on the deterrents and enablers for internationalization. The national network and the size of domestic market had positive effects on the enablers for internationalization. The deterrents and enablers for internationalization had positive effects on the level of internationalization, and the deterrents had more effects on the level of internationalization than the enablers did (${\beta}$= .492 > .177).
This paper shows that the motives of foreign market entry is classified into the motive of overseas propensity(Motive(M) 1) and of the limited competition of domestic market(Motive(M) 2). International preparing activities are also divided into the activity of ex-ante forecasting and market research(Activity(A) 1), and of ex-ante cooperation and business experience with local firms(Activity(A) 2). M 1 and M2 of Taiwanese ventures can not explain the local performance, but both the influence of M 1 on international preparing activity and business performance, and inter-relationship between Performance(P) 1 and 2 are statistically significant at the 5 % level of significance. On the other hand, Korean ventures in Deadeok Innopolis show that the influence of Activity 1 such as ex-ante forecasting and market research on business performance(P 1) is statistically significant at the 5 % level of significance, but both the relationship between the motive of foreign market entry and P 1 or P 2, and inter-relationship between P 1 and P 2 are not statistically significant. This study finds out there exists the distinct difference owing to their own nationality between Taiwanese and Korean ventures.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the motivating factors determining global logistics network construction and to suggest the most suitable solution for the Korean logistics providers in order to facilitate effectively in global logistics network. The major findings are as follows ; Firstly, 'the factor of network' would be the most essential element for the Korean logistics providers. Secondly, we discovered that among various types of global logistics networks, 'Strategic Alliance' would be the most suitable type for the Korean logistic providers. This study provides the basic information for enhancing global logistics network construction to logistics providers and the Korean government respectively. It also suggests that the implication of Government policy to support global logistics networking business for the Logistics providers should be concentrated on supporting and encouraging M&A among the local logistics partners.
Increased attention has worldwide been given to exporting SMEs pursuing the rapid internationalization from their inception. In spite of the limited resources, exporting SMEs have entered in global markets successfully and then improve their internationalization performance. Nevertheless, there is little empirical research regarding internationalization in exporting SMEs, Using a survey of 317 exporting SMEs, this study designated organizational, entrepreneurial, environmental, and technological characteristics as determinants of internationalization performance as well as investigates empirically the relationships among the determinants of internationalization performance, export Support programs of the government, and internationalization performance. According to the results of the study, firstly, R&D capacity, globalization-orientation, international market environment, and technological characteristics (e.g. technological capacity and imitation) have significant effects on international performances. Finally, it is found that export support programs moderated the relationships between market information management, R&D capacity, management capacity, international market information, and technological capacity, and internationalization performance. Above results indicate that if exporting SMEs would not use export support programs effectively, they could not improve internationalization performance. As well, several implications for researchers and practitioners, limitation of this study and future direction were suggested.
The results of the study show that managers of Korean manufacturing firms pursue international business strategy(IBS) to achieve four different objectives: global integration, national responsiveness, market expansion, or development and exploitation of firm-specific knowledge. IBS is closely related to the international business environment of the firms. When managers think they can exploit economies of scale by integrating worldwide operations, they prefer the global standardization strategy. Managers of firms which implement the localization strategy actively recognize the importance of the strategy more than those of other firms. IBS helps to improve the overall international competitiveness of the firms. Especially. implementing global standardization and localization simultaneously seems to be useful to strengthen the competitiveness of the firms.
"국제화해야 21세기에 살아남을 수 있다"는 기업들의 절박한 모토는 국가도 개인도 예외가 아니다. 최근 서점가에 쏟아지고 있는 국제화.개방화에 대비하는 책들은 이러한 문명사적 대전환기를 맞아 작게는 '나', 크게는 기업, 국가가 '어떻게' '구체적'으로 '사고의 전환'을 이루어야 하는지가 조목조목 지적돼 있다.
This study analyzes the determinants of the choice of foreign direct investment mode by Korean fashion firms in entering into foreign markets. We have established hypotheses regarding their choice among three classical entry modes including a wholly-owned subsidiary, a joint venture and an M&A based on factors such as the investing firm's size, international experience and international strategy type, host market potentials, cultural distance and foreign investment risk. By conducting multiple logistic regression over secondary data on 100 Korean fashion firms, we found that all variables but cultural distance were statistically significant. The results may contribute to advancing international business theory on the fashion industry and developing fashion firms' global strategy.
This paper explores the technology resource-based determinants influencing internationalization performance of Korean software-related new ventures. On the ground of the study by Zahra et al.(2003), this paper aims to test empirically in Korea how interaction effects of tangible and intangible technological resources, as firm capability, are related to software new ventures' internationalization performance. The test results shows that intangible technological resource represented by R&D intensity is not significantly related to internationalization performance, but reveals that intangible technological resource represented by strength of technological cooperation network and technological reputation is positively and significantly associated with internationalization performance. Internationalization performance is more significantly and positively associated with the interactions of tangible technological resource and intangible technological resource than those resources respectively. The implication for the findings in the paper is that cutting edge technological capability of software new ventures can be more closely associated with internationalization performance if those resources are fully utilized or leveraged by intangible resources acquired by cooperation with local networks and created through technological reputation of new ventures.
Recent increase of academic interest in Born Globals has brought abundant researches, which accounts their causes and states, both in and out of the country. However, postulating that types of companies see the different perception of environment of global markets, and this difference will also bring different effects on enterprise capabilities and performance, this study implemented theoretical inquiry and evidential analysis. Technologically innovative SMEs, main subjects of this study, were categorized into Rapid Globals and Gradual Globals according to their internationalization speed, then followed by a CSA. This analysis has shown, regardless of corporate types, early perception of changes in global market environments, affects, in great amount, on marketing and R&D capabilities as well as performance. However, corporate types also showed difference in early perception of changes, marketing and R&D capabilities as well as performance. This evidential analysis provides enterprises pursuing internationalization in early stage with enforcement in their early perception of changes in global market environments.
