The Effect of Workplace Flexibility on Employees' Organizational Commitment (직장 유연성이 종업원의 조직몰입에 미치는 영향)

  • The COVID-19 pandemic catalyzed major changes in our work environment, underscoring the critical role of workplace flexibility. While a wealth of research exists on specific flexible work strategies and schedules, a broader understanding of workplace flexibility has been somewhat overlooked. This study aimed to bridge this gap by examining the correlation between workplace flexibility and organizational commitment. Our sample consisted of 300 employees from foreign businesses in the ICT(information and communications technology) service sector and the manufacturing industry, along with those from the top 50 leading Korean enterprises. We bifurcated workplace flexibility into two distinct categories for this study: quantitative and qualitative. Our results revealed that within the quantitative category, the flexibility of continuity of work and flexible place significantly enhanced organizational commitment. Interestingly, the flexibility of work schedules didn't have a marked impact on commitment levels. On the qualitative side, job autonomy and teamwork emerged as significant drivers of organizational commitment. It's worth noting that qualitative aspects of workplace flexibility had a more pronounced effect on organizational commitment than the quantitative elements. These findings highlight the necessity of approaching workplace flexibility from a comprehensive perspective, embracing both its quantitative and qualitative dimensions. For businesses aiming to maximize the benefits of flexibility, it's essential to cultivate a culture of open communication, champion collaboration, and prioritize job autonomy and teamwork. Establishing a work environment that actively supports feedback-oriented communication stands as a key component in this endeavor.

  • The damages from security accidents continue to increase as technology leaks from suppliers cause risks to the management of large companies, which are their customers, and their image and reliability to fall. However, the current industrial structure is practically impossible for large companies to form their own businesses and strategic alliances with business partners are essential, but it is changing into an industrial structure where the exchange of information is increased and the dependence of the information system is maximized, as well as legal demands and demands from stakeholders are increasing due to the complexity of the work process and the strengthening of security-related laws. The status of technology protection of small and medium-sized enterprises shows that they are not equipped with a security system due to relatively poor environment and financial difficulties compared to large enterprises, whereas the industrial structure between large and small business partners is indispensable for sharing the IT system, and the security system of large business, which is a customer company, should be improved by considering the fact that it is impossible to maintain security system between large businesses. Thus, the government intends to examine the system for shared growth of small businesses and the model for evaluating the capabilities of various agencies for information protection, and propose measures to introduce the certification system for small business partners.

  • It is one of the most crutial thing to secure efficient infrastructure of social infrastructure Including rna drinking water, sewer, gas, and electricity, etc. in modern society. Among them, the sourer system need to be properly maintained so as to sustain water quality over the large watershed thereby to provide reasonable level of living environment A few municipalities and private firms have so in been using sewer management system for assessing existing sewer network and auxiliary facilities. Such existing system can only provide functions to manage the sewer pipe itself and they can not fully estimate the amount of sewage water over the pipe through 4he network analysis due to the deficiency of the system Such a limited sewer network analysis function can only analyze the whole network under the assumption of uniformity. The results from such a process can not be fully implemented in the field. Therefore, this study emphasized the development of a sewer management system which can provide practical values from network analysts considering areal peculiarities using a zoning map utilizing a GIS. The system can support analyzing scenarios due to the changes of sewer amounts from the changes of population densities and rainfall amounts not to mention of calculating sewer amount for individual sewer pipes. furthermore, the system can support the decision making for better designing sewer facilities from the expansion of metropolitan areas and constructing satellite cities. Eventually, it will contribute to enhance the effectiveness of sewer-related works and services for residents as well as supporting a decision making for minor and major trouble-shootings.

CM Prospects and Strategies Based on Contract Statistics : 1997 through 2014 (CM산업 수주실적 분석을 통한 CM기업의 발전 방안 - 1997년 ~ 2014년 실적자료 기반 -)

  • CM services have been focused on the advancement of the CM industry and expansion to overseas market based on CM capabilities. However, there has been lack of quantitative and comprehensive research to investigate current CM trends and prospects for improving competitiveness. In this sense, the purpose of this study is to statistically analyze total of 3,453 CM service contracts over the past 18 years (between 1997 and 2014) in term of market type, contract size, owner's type, commodity type. Finding of this research reveal that 1) compared to 2005, CM market size in 2015 increased as much as 2.5 times, and that 2) domestic CM projects count for 87.5%, architectural project 88.4%, less than 1 billion won small contracts 75%, respectively. Also, recently as CM company are developing capability and competitiveness, 1) overseas CM market share has grown up to 20% among total CM contract amount, and 2) CM contracts by private owners has increased 3 times demanding the total management services based on high technical capability. Additionally, the result of this paper supports the growth path model proposed by Jung et al. (2014), where a path from Domestic Public (DP3) and Domestic Private (DC2) CM projects towards the expansion to International Private (IC5) contracts was quantitatively analyzed. Implications for other practical issues are also briefly discussed.

A Study on the Factors Influencing Technology Innovation Capability on the Knowledge Management Performance of the Company: Focused on Government Small and Medium Venture Business R&D Business (기술혁신역량이 기업의 지식경영성과에 미치는 요인에 관한 연구: 정부 중소벤처기업 R&D사업을 중심으로)

  • Due to the recent mid- to long-term slump and falling growth rates in the global economy, interest in organizational structures that create new products or services as a new alternative to survive and develop in an opaque environment both internally and externally, and enhance organizational sustainability through changes in production methods and business innovation is increasing day by day. In this atmosphere, we agree that the growth of small and medium-sized venture companies has a significant impact on the national economy, and various efforts are being made to enhance the technological innovation capabilities of the members so that these small and medium-sized venture companies can enhance and sustain their performance. The purpose of this study is also to investigate how the technological innovation capabilities of small and medium-sized venture companies correlate with the performance of knowledge management and to analyze the role of network capabilities to organize the strategic activities of enterprise to obtain the resources and organizational capabilities to be used for value creation from external networks. In other words, research was conducted on the impact of technological innovation capabilities of small and medium venture companies on knowledge management performance by using network capabilities as parameters. Therefore, in this study, we would like to verify the hypothesis that innovation capabilities will have a positive impact on knowledge management performance by using network capabilities of small and medium venture companies. Economic activities based on technological innovation capabilities should respond quickly to new changes in an environment where uncertainty has increased, and lead to macro-economic growth and development as well as overcoming long-term economic downturns so that they can become the nation's new growth engine as well as sustainable growth and survival of the organization. In addition, this study was conducted by setting the most important knowledge management performance within the organization as a dependent variable. As a result, R&D and learning capabilities among technological innovation capabilities have no impact on financial performance. In contrast, it was shown that corporate innovation activities have a positive impact on both financial and non-financial performance. The fact that non-financial factors such as quality and productivity improvement are identified in the management of small and medium-sized venture companies utilizing their technological innovation capabilities is contrary to a number of studies by those corporate innovation activities affect financial performance during prior research. The reason for this result is that research companies have been out of start-up companies for more than seven years, but sales are less than 10 billion won, and unlike start-up companies, R&D and learning capabilities have more positive effects on intangible non-financial performance than financial performance. Corporate innovation activities have been shown to have a positive (+) impact on both financial and non-financial performance, while R&D and learning capabilities have a positive (+) impact on financial performance by parameters of network capability. Corporate innovation activities have been shown to have no impact on both financial and non-financial performance, and R&D and learning capabilities have no impact on non-financial performance. It could be seen that the parameter effects of network competency are limited to when R&D and learning competencies are derived from quantitative financial performance.   • In a make-to-order manufacturing environment, the manufacturer's quotation information is important information used as basic information for bidding, receiving orders, and producing products in response to various customer demands. This quotation information is changed according to various factors such as customer demands, changes in product production environment, changes in drawing information of technical partners, and technological improvement of products. Due to this change, various changes occur in the quotation information that the manufacturer is preparing to reflect the customer's requirements. The change of quotation information according to these various change factors puts a lot of burden on the quotation management work from the standpoint of a make-to-order manufacturing company. In particular, the change of quotation information due to the change factors of quotation is inevitable and frequently occurs due to the requirements of the customer in the customer-oriented make-to-order production environment. In this paper, we propose a quotation change process based on the quotation creation process and propose a consistent and efficient quotation change processing method. To this end, the factors causing the change of quotation were defined, and the types of changes for each factor were defined. And it shows the procedure of applying the quotation change process to the quotation management system through the cases of each cause of the quotation change. In addition, in order to show the usefulness of the quotation change factors, the type of quotation change, the quotation change process, and the quotation system management, the proposed quotation change process and function was applied in the integrated quotation management system for the ship engine division of a typical make-to-order manufacturing company 'H'. As a result, it was confirmed that the proposed quotation change process and management system according to the quotation change factors were efficiently performed.

Business Process Design to Apply ebXML Framework to the Port and Logistics Distribution Industry (ebXML 적용을 위한 항만물류산업 비즈니스 프로세스 설계)

  • EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) has been widely utilized to support Business Activities since it has such advantages as fast transfer of information, less documentation work, efficient information exchange etc. Recently e-business environment has urged the traditional EDI system to be changed to ebXML framework. To apply the ebXML framework to a certain industry, it is required to implement Business Process (BP), Core Component (CC), Collaboration Protocol Profile (CPP), Collaboration Protocol Agreement (CPA), Messaging system etc. We have selected the port and logistics industry as a target domain to apply ebXML framework, since the EDI usage ratio of it is relatively higher than other industries. In this paper, we have analyzed the current status of EDI system and transaction processes in the port and logistics industry. We have defined the business process that will be registered in the registry/repository, the main component of ebXML framework, using UN/CEFACT modeling methodology. And Business Collaborations, Business Transactions, Business Document Flows, Choreography, Pattern, etc. are represented using UML according to UN/ CEFACT modeling methodology, to apply ebXML Framework to the port and logistics distribution industry. Also we have suggested the meta methodology for applying the ebXML framework to other industries.

A Study on the Scheme of Implementing Meta-data Based Applications for Enterprises (메타 데이터 기반의 기업용 애플리케이션 구축 방안에 관한 연구)

  • Generally, the phases of constructing information systems are consisted of systems planning and selection, system analysis, system design, and system implementation and operation. These systems require many efforts and costs for additional development of modification requirements due to a frequent changes of business environments and business processes. Especially, inconsistencies between system design and system implementation usually happen during development steps because of the difficulties of program developments due to difficulties of capturing exact user requirements and frequent changes of user requirements. This paper proposes a scheme of implementing meta-data based applications for enterprises in order to reduce inconsistencies between system design and system implementation and to overcome limits of the existing coding-based development methods of applications which must use until disuse if they are developed once. Also, this paper presents a framework of repository system to systematically manage and utilize meta-data. The core concept of the proposed scheme makes outputs generated in the phases of system analysis and design into meta-data and is to easily develop and customize application programs using meta-data repository. Also, to show the applicability of the proposed scheme, it is applied to implement ERP system of 'H' automotive part manufacturer. As a result, the proposed scheme can gain improvements such as easiness and productivity of program development, easiness of maintenance, reusability of program components, etc.

  • Today, companies exist amid unlimited competition and uncertain adminstration environment, so hands-on workers are being exposed to various job requirements and stress due to this. Especially, employees in the design firm are physically difficult because of heavy working intensity unlike other industrial field, and because the process is interrelated unlike working of a five-day workday of the other industry, it is difficult to guarantee periodic holidays and vacation. In addition, recently, while BIM is introduced in the construction industry, various changes in the individual role as well as organizational dimension such as business environment and scope & role, etc. are required, so it is the actual situation that the category and factors of job stress due to this are being also changed. Accordingly, this research has grasped important and weak sectors according to characteristics such as career, position, gender, education and existence/nonexistence of BIM template, etc. by confirming a job stress level and inducing factors of hands-on workers at the design firm. This research has a meaning in constructing a business environment of a design firm that is a main participant of BIM-based projects that are expected to have high utilization in the future.

A Case of IT System Development for Engineering Education of Low-carbon & Green-growth (저탄소 녹색성장 공학 교육을 위한 IT 시스템 개발 사례)

  • Recently, the most important paradigm is to prepare future and to protect the environment through the carbon savings occurs in everyday life and whole industry. For the success of this new paradigm, Korean government encourages the green certification and the development of green technologies and green growth as one of the important policies are adopted and implemented. Public agencies and companies establish the plans about the carbon savings and implement a lot of research has moved on using IT technology. There are some attempts in Korea to use as an electronic document instead of the use of paper document using these green IT and mobile devices. In this paper, the waiting sequence system using mobile phone is proposed as an example of practical engineering education for 'Low carbon, Green growth'.
