  • In this study, parameters and requirements of an 120kW class monorail planetary gearbox was analysed and the adaptive planetary gearbox design was selected. The specification of the sun gear, planetary gear and carrier was set and the profile & lead was optimized. The mechanical efficiency of the optimized one and the original one was observed. Dynamo-tester system was used to observe the mechanical efficiency of the planetary gearbox. A dynamo unit was connected with the planetary gearbox which straightened through the motor by a coupling. The standard tooth shape planetary gearbox and modified tooth shape planetary gearbox were used as test pieces and the rotation speed was set from 600 to 6000rpm with 600rpm, 2.5min one step. In order to check the mechanical efficiency of the planetary gearbox, the tests were done as follows. 1) The power loss between driving motor and dynamo tester. 2) Temperature variation by different rotation speeds. 3) Noise variation by different rotation speeds.

  • Gears, which rotate and transmit power by interlocking two cogwheels, were invented in BC. They have been used in various systems, including industrial machinery, transportation devices, and living facilities, through the industrial revolution. Regardless of how they are used, gears are a major source of noise and vibration. Many effective measures are being taken to reduce the radiation noise generated from gears, most commonly by lubrication. Lubrication in gear units reduces friction on interlocking gear surfaces, dampening radioactive noise. This can be very useful for quiet gear design if these lubricating damping effects can be reflected in the analytical phase for gear design. This study experimentally confirms the properties of lubricated and non-lubricated radioactive noise by designing a decelerator gearbox and analyzing the radioactive noise characteristics by torque, rotation, and the number of gears using computer analysis.

  • In this paper, factors affecting accuracy or grade of forged bevel gears are investigated in the experimental way. Two materials of SKD-11 and copper. two machining conditions and two machines of WIA-V50 and Roders-RFM600 are particularly investigated to reveal their effects on the grade of bevel gear forging dies in this study. It has been shown that the bevel gear grades are much affected by all the factors tested, revealing that it is of great significance to find the optimal machining process of die making to develop or manufacture a high precision bevel gear and that the bevel gear is degraded by one from the grade of its related die during forging.

  • Recently, 3D printer technologies have been used in many research efforts for high precision manufacturing. In particular, the rapid prototyping technology has been developing rapidly, because it can be manufactured in a short time with a 3D designed shape. This paper relates to the production characteristics of the straight bevel gear designed using a 3D print using the PolyJet method. The characteristics of a 3D printed straight bevel gear were compared with a machined straight bevel gear. The accuracy of the produced straight bevel gear was evaluated by backlash, meshing pattern, face angle, root angle, and surface roughness.

  • Cold forging has several advantages as compared with conventional forming by cutting process. In this study, the elastic deformations of straight bevel gear and die induced by cold forging process are investigated to use 3D-Scanner. So we could estimate the total elastic deformation as comparing between forged bevel gears and die. And finite element analysis has been performed to predict the elastic deformation, each of cold forged bevel gear and die. The predicted values are compared with the experimental values and as a result they are well agreed with experimental data.

  • Bevel gears are important mechanical parts to transmit power in transportation system high precision parts like bevel gears might be manufactured by closed die forging process for dimensional accuracy. Closed die forging of bevel gears offers the high quality and good mechanical properties and also leads to considerable cost saving. To determinate the proper closed-die forging process for bevel gear forms, three-dimensional finite element simulation for the progressive forging process was earned out and also the simulation results were compared with experimental results.

  • This study contains to theory and analysis research for the stress and the translation of an expand disk that fix a ring gear for tooth profile machining. The stress of the expand disk is analysed by the finite element method(FEM) to calculate design parameters. From the analysis results, the stress of the expand shows a linear tendency under various fixing force. This results show that the expand disk have a elastic characteristics as a disk spring. The maximum stress was observed on under side in split section of the expand disk. It is verified that the analysis results are useful to calculate design parameters of the expand disk.

  • Industrial reducer is in general use to Deck Crane. High-precision and high-efficient reducer is minimized the power-loss and energy-loss of a machine. So it contribute the price reduction and life extension. Reducer is usually using the Planetary gear reducer. Planetary gear reducer is composed the sun gear, planet gear, internal gear and casing. Industrial reducer's wear and breakage have a short-life. To solve this problem, it is using the profile-shifted-gear or tooth modification. This study was carried out the effect of addendum modification coefficient on tooth fillet bending strength to planetary reducer. Tooth fillet bending stress is calculate. And all parameter were expressed the function of addendum modification coefficient. And then stress concentration factor of tooth fillet curve was express the function of addendum modification coefficient using comparison between theory and finite element analysis.

  • This paper presents the study on the contact stress analysis of a pair of mating spur gears during rotation. Contact stress analysis is performed between two spur gear teeth at different contact positions during rotation. An example is presented to investigate the variation of contact stress on a pair of mating gears with contact positions. The variation of contact stress during rotation is compared with the contact stress at lowest point of single tooth contact(LPSTC) and AGMA Equation for contact stress. The results show that contact stress varies along the contact position and gets maximum values in the beginning and end of the contact. In this study, the gear design considering the contact stress on a pair of mating gears is more severe than that of AGMA standard.

  • The aircraft flight control system controls an aircraft's direction and flying attitude, and actuators are key components of control systems. Actuators can be classified as Geared Rotary Actuator (GRA) and Ball Screw Actuator (BSA). GRA is used in mid-sized aircraft, and BSA is used in larger aircraft. A two-stage differential GRA model was suggested in this paper, and structural analysis and performance tests were performed. According to the analysis and experiment, the stiffness of the two-stage differential GRA was 17.57% higher than that of the conventional GRA, and the structural safety was improved.
