Study on Cold Forward Extrusion Formality Analysis along with Tool Entrance Angle of Helical Gear for Electronic Parking Brake Using Finite Element Analysis (유한요소해석을 이용한 전자식 주차브레이크용 헬리컬 기어의 금형 도입부 각도에 따른 냉간 전방압출 성형성 분석에 관한 연구)

  • This study uses finite element analysis to evaluate the forming load of tool entrance angle of the cold forward extrusion molding process of helical gear; this can replace the spur gear applied to the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) system. A cold forging process is often used in the automobile industry as well as in various industrial machines due to its high efficiency. Finite element analysis is frequently used when interpreting results of the forging process. Formality was evaluated by calculating tooth profile filling rate of helical gear. Change in required forming load was investigated when the entrance angle of forward extrusion tool die was changed from $30^{\circ}$ to $60^{\circ}$, also by finite element analysis. We suggest suitable tool entrance angles.

Development of an Electronic Starting Controller for Starting Motor of Packaged Power Systems (이동식발전설비의 기동전동기용 전자식 시동 제어장치 개발)

  • The core technology of a starting device in the packaged power system is the pinion gear shifting device and to limit the initial starting voltage. Although the conventional products have been used the starting controller using mechanical contactor, these have a big problem such as the uncertainty for the start of starting motor after a pinion gear is completely shifted or the arc demage due to high current. In this study, in order to solve these problems, we designed and fabricated a new product to achieve the safety and reliability as follows: the pinion gear-shifting control circuits to eliminate the uncertainty of the start, the starting control system using semiconductor device to prevent the arc demage of contactor caused by high current, a start safety devices for soft starting of series motor. In addition, we obtained the electrical safety by separating the pinion gear control circuit and the source circuit of motor.

Axial magnetic gear with a closed magnetic path (자기 폐회로를 갖는 축형 마그네틱 기어)

  • A magnetic shutter gear is a device that transfers mechanical power by synchronizing the magnetic field between permanent magnet layers facing circumferentially through a harmonic modulator. However, magnetic gears uses many rare-earth permanent magnets to guarantee comparable torque density to that of mechanical reducer. Hence, we propose a novel axial magnetic gear with a dramatically reduced number of permanent magnets and a closed magnetic path. The torque of the system was compared to that of an existing shutter gear through a harmonic analysis of the air-gap magnetic field. The modulator thickness and open ratio were considered as the primary design parameters, and the cogging effect was analyzed for variation of the reduction ratio. A dynamic model between the high-speed side and low-speed side was derived, and position control was performed for a constructed hardware implementation.

Analysis of Pole Ratio Effect of Magnetic Reducer (마그네틱 감속기의 극수비 영향 분석)

  • In a concentric magnetic gear, which replaces the teeth of a mechanical gear with a permanent magnet, the polar ratio of the magnet that determines the reduction ratio affects the behavior of the magnetic gear dramatically. This study analyzed the density of transmission torque, the efficiency of torque considering the solid loss, and the torque quality, including the cogging characteristics using finite element analysis. When the pole number on the driving side was changed from two to five, it was confirmed that there was an optimal pole ratio, in which the transmission torque was maximized. Because eddy current generation density is proportional to the magnetic field, the transmission efficiency also shows a similar tendency to the transmission torque density, and the efficiency is more than 95% at a low gear ratio. The cogging characteristics due to the interaction of the permanent magnets with the limited number of poles are inversely proportional to the least common multiple between the number of magnets on the drive side and the number of modulator teeth. A test model was built for the transmission torque evaluation.

Development of gear type grease lubricator by rapid prototyping (쾌속조형기에 의한 기어식 주유장치의 개발)

  • An automatic grease lubricator provides an adequate amount of fresh grease constantly to any type of rotating machine to minimize friction heat and reduce friction loss. This study seeks to develop an automatic grease lubricator by means of rapid prototyping with a gear-driven mechanism and a controlled operation time. The ultimate design is to lubricate an adequate amount of grease by a simple dip-switch clicking mechanism according to an advanced set cycle. The backlash of the gear was minimized to increase the power, and to increase the power of the mechanism, the binding frequency and the thickness of the coil were changed. To control the rotation cycles of the main shaft according to certain set numbers, different resistances and chips were used in the design of the circuit which controls the electrical signals via a pulse. A digital mock-up was analyzed and the rapid prototyping (RP) trial products were tested with a PCB circuit and grease. An evaluation of the outlet capacity of RP trial products was conducted, as the friction caused by the outlet on the wall surface was an important factor in the operation of the equipment. Finally, a finishing process was applied to decrease the roughness of a surface to a comparable level to test the performance of the product.
