Absorption of CO2 in Aqueous K2CO3 Absorbents at Pre-Combustion Condition (연소전 조건에서 탄산칼륨계 흡수제의 이산화탄소 흡수특성)

  • The absorption capacity and initial absorption rate of $CO_2$ into aqueous $K_2CO_3$ solutions were measured by using VLE(Vapor-Liquid-Equilibrium) equipment in the pre-combustion condition. Absorption experiments were conducted within the temperature range of $40{\sim}80^{\circ}C$ while increasing the $CO_2$ pressure from 0 to 50bar. The effect of $K_2CO_3$ concentration was investigated by varying in the range of 5~20%. As a results, the absorption capacity and initial absorption rate were increased with increasing $K_2CO_3$ concentration in the absorbents. Also, the initial absorption rate was highest at $40^{\circ}C$. Further more, we have studied the effect of adding piperazine and homopiperazine to $K_2CO_3$ solutions. The results showed that absorption capacity of $CO_2$ was somewhat increased by adding piperazine.

Numerical Simulation of Storm Surge and Wave due to Typhoon Kong-Rey of 2018 (2018년 태풍 콩레이에 대한 폭풍해일과 파랑 수치모의)

  • Numerical simulations of the storm surge and waves induced by the Typhoon Kong-Rey incident on the south coast of Korea in 2018 are conducted using the JMA-MSM weather field provided by the Japan Meteorological Agency, and the calculated surge heights are compared with the time history observed at harbours along the south-east coast. For the waves occurring coincidentally with the storm surges the calculated significant wave heights are compared with the data measured using the wave buoys operated by the KHOA (Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Agency) and the KMA (Korea Meteorological Administration), and the data observed at AWAC stations of the KIOST (Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology). Additional simulations are also performed based on the pressure and wind fields obtained using the best track information provided by the JTWC (Joint Typhoon Warning Center) of the United States, and the results are compared and analyzed. Based on the results of this study it is found that the reliable weather fields are essential for the accurate simulation of storm surges and waves.

  • The flow characteristics in the thruster should be analyzed considering its geometry and the pressure ratio to estimate its performance and etc. This paper suggests the computational result of an axisymmetric real nozzle for the altitude control of a satellite to find out the application limit that the assumption of continuum mechanics holds. The steady non-reacted compressible flow field in the unstructured grid system is computed and analyzed with varying the environmental pressure (or the degree of vacuum) under the fixed pressure ratio in a real thruster of which the area ratio of exit to throat is 56. The assumption of the continuum mechanics is not approved when the environmental pressure is reduced less than $10^{-3}$ atm.

Nonstoichiometry of $ZrO_2$ and $Sm_2O_3$ ($ZrO_2$$Sm_2O_3$의 비화학양론)

  • The x-values of nonstoichiometry chemical formulas, Sm$O_{1.5+x}$ and Zr$O_{2+x}$, have been measured in temperature range from 500$^{\circ}$C to 1000$^{\circ}$C under oxygen pressure of 2 ${\times}10^{-1}$ to 1 ${\times}10^{-5}$ atm by gravimetric method. The enthalpies of formation of defect in samarium sesquioxide and zirconium dioxide decrease with decreasing oxygen pressure and are all positive. The 1/n values calculated from the slopes of the plots of log x vs. log $PO_2$ increase with temperature and are positive values which mean the higher oxygen pressure dependence at higher temperature. From x-values and thermodynamic data, it is found out that the nonstoichiometric defect is fully ionized metal vacancy. The conduction mechanisms of the systems are also discussed with respect to the nonstoichiometric compositions.

  • We performed numerical simulations of freely propagating premixed flames at atmospheric pressure to investigate the influence of trifluoromethane on $CH_4/O_2/N_2$ flames under oxygen enrichment. Trifluoromethane significantly contributed toward a reduction in flame speed, the magnitude of which was larger in terms of the physical effect than the chemical effect. More trifluoromethane could be added and consumed on oxygen-enriched $CH_4/O_2/N_2$ flames. $CHF_3$ was decomposed primarily via $CF_3{\rightarrow}CF_2{\rightarrow}CF{\rightarrow}CF:O{\rightarrow}CO$ and $CHF_3+M{\rightarrow}CF_2+HF+M$ played an important role in oxygen-enhanced flames. When an inhibitor was added to oxygen-enriched flames, the position of the maximum concentration of active radicals was shifted to a relatively low temperature range, and the net rate of OH became higher than that of H.

Total Precipitable Water Fields of Typhoons WALT(9407) & FAYE(9503) Derived from TOVS and SSM/I (TOVS 자료로 도출한 태풍(WALT(9407)과 FAYE(9503))에 동반된 총가강수량장)

  • The total precipitable water fields derived from HIRS(High Resolution Infrared Radiometer Sounder)and MSU(Microwave Sounding Unit) measurements of TOVS and brightness temperature of SSM/I were used to investigate the evolution of moisture fields for the Typhoon WALT(9407) which after landing in Japan it became tropical depression in Korea-Japan Strait, and FAYE(9503) which was the first tropical storm of 1995 to became a typhoon, respectively. The total precipitable water derived from TOVS observations is delineated according to the evolutions of WALT and FAYE movements because total precipitable water fields of TY WALT(9407) and FAYE9\(9503) were largely controlled by horizontal transport of water vapor over the Northwest Pacific Ocean which dominantly plays an important role in maintaining and accelerating their intensities toward Korea and Japan . These fields demonstrated that two major bands, which imply the rain bands, were locally well-organized and similar to the thick convective cloud features over Japan and the Korean peninsula while WALT and FAYE were approaching away and to. But the values of derived TOVS total precipitable water have shown the underestimate of those of SSM/I total comparatively for two typhoons.

  • With the increase in there are smart devices penetration around the world, services related to exercise checks are attracting attention. However, there is existing exercise amount measurement service does not use the altitude information, or because the use of an algorithm that does not corrected the GPS altitude error is not accurate movement distance provided have a problem. Therefore, in this paper, to improve the existing problems, Kalman-filter-based user movement distance measurement algorithm is designed and implementation of improved by using the Kalman-filter based GPS and barometric altimeter sensor fusion algorithm to improve the altitude value the accuracy and of calculate the coordinate plane distance. As a result of comparing the designed and implementation of algorithm with the existing algorithms, it is confirmed that the proposed algorithm improves the accuracy by about 2.17%.

  • 지구온난화에 따른 가장 큰 영향 중의 하나인 해수면 상승은 인구 및 산업시설이 집중되어 있는 연안에 심각한 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 연안 저지대 범람, 하천과 지하수로의 해수 유입, 하천의 수위증가, 조석 및 퇴적물의 변화 등의 직접적 피해를 증가시키고(국립해양조사원, 2012; Nicholls, 2002; 오상명 등, 2011), 시설물의 설계고 추산 및 흐름, 파랑의 흐름에 영향을 미쳐 연안 시설물의 안정성이나 기능성에 영향을 미치는 것으로 알려지고 있다(윤종주·김상익, 2012). 기후변화에 관한 정부간 협의체(Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, IPCC)의 5차 보고서(2014)에 따르면, 1901~2010년 동안 전 지구 평균해수면 상승률은 1.7mm/year에 이르며, 1990년대 이후에 더 높은 해수면 상승률을 예측하였다. 우리나라의 경우, 2010년 말까지의 자료분석 결과에서 2.48mm/year의 연평균 해수면 상승률을 보여 전세계 평균상승률보다 훨씬 상회하는 것으로 보고되고 있다(정태성, 2014; 윤종주 등, 2012). 이와 같이 전 지구적 평균해수면의 변화와는 별개로 지역적 해수면 변동특성은 그 양상이 크게 다를 수 있으며, 이는 지구온난화와 같은 자연적인 요인 뿐만 아니라 지역별 다양한 인위적 요인(풍속, 기압, 연안역 개발정도 등)에 따라 지역적 해수면 상승이 크게 변화할 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 국내 연안역에 분포한 조위관측소의 장기 관측자료(수위)를 이용하여 각 지역별 해수면의 상승경향을 분석하였으며, 동/서/남해안 및 제주권역은 권역별 조석특성이 현저하게 다른 특성을 보이므로 권열별로 구분하여 분석이 수행되었는데 우리나라 대부분의 관측지점에서 평균해수면이 증가하는 추세인 것으로 나타났다.

A Study on Machine Learning-Based Estimation of Roadkill Incidents and Exploration of Influencing Factors (기계학습 기반의 로드킬 발생 예측과 영향 요인 탐색에 대한 연구)

  • This study aims to estimate roadkill occurrences and investigate influential factors in Chungcheongnam-do, contributing to the establishment of roadkill prevention measures. By comprehensively considering weather, road, and environmental information, machine learning was utilized to estimate roadkill incidents and analyze the importance of each variable, deriving primary influencing factors. The Gradient Boosting Machine (GBM) exhibited the best performance, achieving an accuracy of 92.0%, a recall of 84.6%, an F1-score of 89.2%, and an AUC of 0.907. The key factors affecting roadkill included average local atmospheric pressure (hPa), average ground temperature (℃), month, average dew point temperature (℃), presence of median barriers, and average wind speed (m/s). These findings are anticipated to contribute to roadkill prevention strategies and enhance traffic safety, playing a crucial role in maintaining a balance between ecosystems and road development.

Terrain Referenced Navigation Simulation using Area-based Matching Method and TERCOM (영역기반 정합 기법 및 TERCOM에 기반한 지형 참조 항법 시뮬레이션)

  • TERCOM(TERrain COntour Matching), which is the one of the Terrain Referenced Navigation and used in the cruise missile navigation system, is still under development. In this study, the TERCOM based on area-based matching algorithm and extended Kalman filter is analysed through simulation. In area-based matching, the mean square difference (MSD) and cross-correlation matching algorithms are applied. The simulation supposes that the barometric altimeter, radar altimeter and SRTM DTM loaded on board. Also, it navigates along the square track for 545 seconds with the velocity of 1000km per hour. The MSD and cross-correlation matching algorithms show the standard deviation of position error of 99.6m and 34.3m, respectively. The correlation matching algorithm is appeared to be less sensitive than the MSD algorithm to the topographic undulation and the position accuracy of the both algorithms is extremely depends on the terrain. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an algorithm that is more sensitive to less terrain undulation for reliable terrain referenced navigation. Furthermore, studies on the determination of proper matching window size in long-term flight and the determination of the best terrain database resolution needed by the flight velocity and area should be conducted.
