Lightweight geopolymers were fabricated with non-milled IGCC slag and Si sludge as a bloating material. The relationship between addition amount of Si sludge and physical/chemical properties of lightweight geopolymers was investigated. When the geopolymers were made by mixing IGCC slag, alkali activator, and more than 10 wt.% Si sludge, the temperature of the geopolymer pastes reached higher than 130℃ in a few minutes. This exothermic reaction accelerated the geopolymer reaction; however, it was difficult to make geopolymer specimens because of a rapid bloating reaction. Both compressive strength and density of the specimens tend to decrease with an addition of Si sludge; however, there was little difference in both compressive strength and density with addition of Si sludge more than 10 wt.%. Because there was a limit to get low density geopolymers by simply increasing the addition of Si sludge, the control of pore size and distribution of geopolymer is more important by controlling flow rate of the paste through the control of W/S ratio. Therefore, it is important to control process conditions, appropriate W/S ratio for the bloating than the control of Si sludge. The optimum W/S ratio was 0.20 for the addition of Si sludge less than 30 wt.% and W/S ratio should be more than 0.28 for the addition of Si sludge more than 30 wt.%, although there was no practical application in fact.
Premature-green wheat is typically obtained by early harvest when culms of wheat still appear green in color, and the wheat and its food products have been considered as wellbeing foods. The pasting properties of prematured whole green wheat powder (WGWP), were analyzed with a rapid viscosity analyzer (RVA), and compared with commercial flours. The RVA values of lower peak viscosity and time, holding strength, final viscosity, as well as breakdown and setback viscosity showed that the WGWP could retard a gelatination of starch and also delay retrogradation in bakery products. WGWP with different levels of 10, 20, 30 or 50% was added into flours for preparing bakery product (bread, muffin and cookie), and their quality properties were evaluated. The addition of WGWP lead to a reduction in loaf volume of bread and muffin, and bakery products containing different levels of WGWP showed the changed internal surface structure (e.g. pore size) observed with a scanning electron microscope when compared with the control (0% WGWP). The hardness, gumminess, chewiness of bread and muffins were increased, and cohesiveness was decreased as the WGWP content increased, but the hardness of cookies was decreased. The bakery products added WGWP showed darker and more greenish and yellowish color than control (p<0.05). The sensory evaluation showed that bakeries with WGWP were scored to have more greenish taste and green color (p<0.05), and muffins and cookies with WGWP were evaluated to have more nutty and less oily taste (p<0.05).
The thin film processing and the applicability as a IMD material of SiO2 aerogels providing ultralow dielec-tric properties were studied. The SiO2 aerogel films with 0.5g/㎤ density (78% porosity) and 4000~21000$\AA$ thickness could be prepared at 25$0^{\circ}C$ and 1160 psig by supercritical drying of wet-gel films, which were spin-coated at the spin rate of 1000~7000 rpm on p-Si(111) wafer under the isopropanol atmosphere. The optimum viscosity of polymeric SiO2 sols for spin coating was in the range of 10~14 cP. The main fac-tors being able to control the film thickness and microstructures were found to be sol concentration, spin rpm, and aging time of wet-gel films. The dielectric constant of the SiO2 aerogel thin film was around 2.0 low enough to be applied to the next generation semiconductor device beyond the giga level.

The effect of Al-MCM-41 preparation methods on the catalytic degradation of linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) was investigated. Al-MCM-41 catalysts were synthesized by direct method (Al-MCM-41-D) and post treatment method (Al-MCM-41-P) and their characteristics were elucidated by XRD, BET, $NH_3\;TPD,\;^{27}Al$ MAS NMR. TGA kinetic analysis showed that the catalytic activation energies of Al-MCM-41-D and Al-MCM-41-P were 191.54 and 114.26 kJ/mol, respectively. The higher catalytic activity of Al-MCM-41-P would be attributed to its smaller pore size as well as higher number of acid sites that are accessible.

A coupled thermomechanical analysis of composite structures in pyrolysis and ablation environments is performed. The pyrolysis and ablation models include the effects of mass loss, pore gas diffusion, endothermic reaction energy, surface recession, etc. The thermal and structural analysis interface is based upon a staggered coupling algorithm by using a commercial finite element code. The characteristics of the proposed method are investigated through numerical experiments with carbon/phenolic composites. The numerical studies are carried out to examine the surface recession rate by chemical and mechanical ablation. In addition, the effects of shrinkage or intumescence during the pyrolysis process are shown.
In this study, the approximate compositions, color properties, texture properties, physical characteristics, and sensory evaluation of muffins prepared from legumes (mung bean, cowpea, chickpea, or lentil) and wheat flour blends was evaluated. Pasting viscosity of legume flours was lower than that of wheat flour. The moisture, crude ash, and crude protein content of muffins made with legume-wheat flour blends were higher than those of control muffins made exclusively with wheat flour. The lightness value of muffins was decreased by adding legume flour. The hardness of muffins made from legume-wheat flour blends was higher than that of control, whereas springiness and cohesiveness was lower. The weight of muffins made with legume-wheat flour blends were higher than that of control, whereas the height and volume were lower than those of control. The scores of taste, aroma, and texture of muffins were not significantly changed by adding legume flours. The overall acceptability of muffins that were made with lentil or chickpea flour was similar to that of control muffins.

Pure-carbon materials such as graphite, graphene, carbon nanotubes, and diamond have very high thermal conductivities. The reported thermal conductivity of graphene is in the range 3000~5000W/m-K at room temperature. Here, we developed graphene/cu foam hybrid type heat spreader to obtain higher thermal conductivity than Cu foam. Hybrid materials were characterized using optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and thermal conductivity measurement system; LFA (Laser Flash Analysis @ LFA 447, NETZSCH). We suggest that excellent thermal properties of graphene/cu foam hybrid structures are beneficial for all proposed electrical applications and can lead to a thermal management application.

This research is based on fabricating Cu(In,Ga)$Se_2$ thin-film by co-evaporation method. On $1^{st}$ - stage, $In_2Se_3$ phase appeared when the substrate temperature reached to $400^{\circ}C$, however, there was small effect between the substrate temperature and absorbency spectrum on $2^{nd}$, $3^{rd}$ - stage because the average thickness of the thin-film was $1{\mu}m$ or higher. SEM and XRD was measured on $2^{nd}$ and $3^{rd}$ stage and it showed as the substrate temperature increases, the density of the crystal structure increased with the decreament of the vacancy. Furthermore, the formation of Cu(In0.7Ga0.3)$Se_2$ phase showed at $480^{\circ}C$ and $500^{\circ}C$.
The removal of particulate matter ranging from $0.01{\mu}m{\sim}10{\mu}m$ can be performed by using membrane filters composed of fibers. Electrospinning techniques offer the production of very thin fibers with a uniform fiber diameter over conventional techniques including template synthesis, melt-blown, phase separation, etc. Air filtration will be improved with electrospun membranes due to the open pore structures, high porosity, and large surface area of the membranes. In the present study, filtration efficiency increased with pore size decrease and fiber density increase induced by carbon nanotube and the increased CA (cellulose acetate) concentration during electrospinning process.

An efficient propylene/propane separation technology is needed to obtain high-purity propylene, which is a raw material for polypropylene synthesis. Since conventional cryogenic distillation is an energy-intensive process due to the similar physicochemical properties of propylene and propane, adsorptive separation has gained considerable interest. In this study, we have computationally investigated the changes in adsorption separation performances by arbitrarily controlling the adsorption strength of open metal sites in two different types of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). Through the evaluation of adsorptive separation performances in terms of working capacity, selectivity, and Adsorption Figure of Merit (AFM), we have suggested proper density and strength of adsorption sites as well as appropriate temperature condition to obtain optimal propylene/propane adsorptive separation performances.
