KSTAR 토카막 플라즈마 가열을 위한 중성 입자빔 입사장치용 이온원 개발 현황

  • KSTAR (Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research) 장치는 차세대 에너지원 중의 하나인 핵융합로를 위한 과학기술 기반을 마련하기 위해 개발된 중형급 토카막 실험장치로서 토카막 운전 영역의 확장과 안정성 확보, 정상상태 운전 도달을 위한 방법 연구, 최적화된 플라즈마 상태와 연속 운전 실현 등을 주요 목표로 하고 있다. 이를 위해 핵융합 반응에 의한 점화조건과 가까운 상태로 플라즈마를 가열해주어야 하며, 토카막 장치의 저항가열 이외에도 외부에서 추가 가열이 반드시 필요하다. 중성 입자빔 입사 장치는 현재 토카막에서 사용되고 있는 가열장치 중 가장 신뢰성있는 추가 가열 장치라 할 수 있으며 한국 원자력연구원에서는 1997년부터 KSTAR 토카막 실험 장치에 사용될 중성 입자빔 입사 장치를 개발해왔었다. 중성빔 입사 장치는 크게 이온원, 진공함, 열량계, 진공 펌프, 중성화 장치, 이온덤프와 전자석으로 이루어져 있으며, 이중 이온원은 중성빔의 성능을 좌우하는 핵심적인 장치라 할 수 있다. 최근 한국원자력연구원에서는 2 MW 중성 입자빔 입사장치용 이온원 개발을 완료하여 KSTAR 토카막 장치에 설치하였으며, 2013년 현재 KSTAR에는 총 두 개의 이온원이 장착되어 최대 약 3 MW 이상의 중수소 중성 입자빔을 입사하여 KSTAR 토카막 실험의 H-mode 달성과 운전 시나리오 연구에 많은 기여를 하고 있다. 한국원자력연구원에서 최초로 개발된 이온원은 미국 TFTR 장치에서 사용되었던 US LPIS (Long Pulse Ion Source)를 기본으로 하여 국내 개발을 수행하였다. 이 온원은 크게 플라즈마를 발생시키는 플라즈마 발생부와 발생된 이온을 인출 및 가속시키는 가속부로 구성되는데, 개발과정에서 가장 먼저 KSTAR의 장주기 운전에 적합하도록 플라즈마 방전부와 가속부의 냉각회로를 요구되는 열부하에 맞게 설계 수정하였다. 그 후 플라즈마 방전부는 방전 시간과 안정성, 플라즈마 밀도의 균일도, 정격 운전, 방전 효율 등을 고려하여 수정 보완하며 개발을 진행하여왔다. 가속부의 경우 국내 제작기술의 한계를 극복하기 위해 빔 인출그리드를 TFTR의 US LPIS 모델의 슬릿형 그리드 타입에서 원형 인출구 타입으로 변경하였으며, 이후 가속 전극의 고전압 내전력 문제, 빔 인출 전류와 전력, 인출 빔의 광학적 질(quality), 빔 인출 시간 동안의 안정성 등을 위해 그리드의 크기와 간격, 모양 등을 변경하여 개발을 수 행하여 왔다. 이 논문은 한국원자력연구원에서 개발이 진행되어 왔던 이온원들을 시간적으로 되짚어 보면서 현재까지의 성과와 문제점, 그리고 앞으로의 개발 방향에 대해 논의하고자 한다.

Design of adhesive wireless bookbinding machine with optimal motor control and automatic cover insertion (최적의 모터 제어 및 겉표지 자동 투입 기능을 적용한 접착식 무선 제본기 설계)

  • An adhesive wireless bookbinding machine was designed with optimal motor control and automatic cover insertion for bookbinding. The noise level was improved by modifying the thrust of the machine and changing from a compressor method to an AC induction motor control method. The automatic cover insertion function was added to improve the task speed. Motor and decelerator damage can be caused by sudden braking and acceleration of the motor rotation (clockwise and counter-clockwise), so a buffer-type locational control system was developed to secure stable movement and durability. The complicated internal design was also simplified, and the volume and weight were decreased. The results show that the noise was decreased by 57% from 135 dB to 71.7 dB, and the task speed was decreased by 57% from 18 s to 9.58 s. The automatic cover insertion was designed to supply a maximum of 130 sheets per supply.

Technologies for improving the running safety of a tram operating on the concrete embedded track (콘크리트 매립형 궤도를 운행하는 트램의 주행안전성 향상 기술)

  • To improve the running safety of a tram operating on a concrete embedded track, a bogie, the core system of the tram, was developed and fabricated. After it was integrated with the prototype car body, a short distance track with a sharp curve and steep gradient was constructed for the test operation. A formula to check the interference of the wheel flange with the track during running was proposed. Based on the results provided by the formula, the track was designed. Another simple formula was derived to estimate the derailment quotient and the wheel unloading ratio. During running on the track, the acceleration of the car body was measured and the interface status between the wheel and the track was monitored by a video system. According to the results calculated by these simple formulas, the derailment quotient and wheel unloading ratio were estimated to be within the safety criteria. In the actual test, no derailment occurred and the measured acceleration satisfied the criteria. Also, there was no interference between the wheel and track. The video monitoring results showed no signs of derailment, such as the climbing of the wheel. The pinion in the center showed good running safety, contacting smoothly with the rack. The measurements of environmental noise proved that the criteria were satisfied.

Smoke Exhaust Performance Prediction According to Air Supply and Exhaust Conditions for Shipboard Fires from a Human Safety Point of View (인명안전 관점에서 선박 화재 시 급·배기조건에 따른 배연성능 예측평가)

  • When a fire occurs on a ship that has mechanical ventilation facilities, the air supply and exhaust systems directly effect smoke diffusion. And there is a high possibility that occupant's visibility will be harmed because of smoke. In this study, the effects and risks of air supply and exhaust systems with regard to smoke diffusion given a shipboard fire analyzed with a Fire Dynamic Simulator(FDS). Suggested measures are also provided for using air supply and exhaust systems more efficiently. The results showed that, when air supply and exhaust systems were both working at the time of a fire, rather than stopping these systems as previously encouraged, continuing to operate both was an effective measure to gain evacuation time. When a fire occurred and the exhaust system was operating, also starting the air supply system near the origin of the fire was another effective approach to gain evacuation time. However, when only the air supply system was operating and a fire occurred, the air supply system accelerated smoke diffusion, so it was necessary to stop the air supply system to detect smoke diffusion as much as possible.

Development of a Sound Quality Index for the Evaluation of an Intake Noise of a Passenger Car (급가속시 차량의 흡기소음에 대한 음질지수 개발)

  • In this paper, a sound quality index for the evaluation of the vehicle intake noise was developed through a correlation analysis of the objective measurement and the subjective evaluation. First, intake orifice noise was measured at the wide-open throttle sweep condition. And then, the acoustic transfer function between intake orifice noise and interior noise was measured. Simultaneously, subjective evaluation was carried out with a 10-scale score by 8 special engineers. The correlation analysis between the psychoacoustic parameters derived from the measurement and the subjective evaluation was performed. The most critical factor was determined and the corresponding sound quality index for intake noise was obtained from the multiple factor regression analysis method. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed index was validated.

  • In this paper, we estimated the D147 mode test, which is introduced as a new emission test mode for the driving car using diesel fuel. And we compared the D147 test mode, Lug-Down3 test mode and no load acceleration test mode. And the exhaust gas concentration between the three modes was compared. The exhaust concentration at the D147 mode is lower than the exhause concentration at the Lug-Down 3 mode and higher than that at the no load acceleration test mode. Also the correlation factor was estimated between the D147 mode and Lug-Down 3 mode.

  • In this paper, the fuel transport characteristics during transient condition was studied by using a Fast Response Flame Ionization Detector(FRFID). The quantitative measurement method for the inducted fuel mass into cylinder is studied. The inducted fuel mass into the cylinder was estimated by using calculated air-fuel ratio by hydrocarbon concentration of cylinder and air flow model. In order to estimate the transportation of injected fuel from the intake port into cylinder, the wall wetting fuel model was used. The two coefficient $\alpha$,$\beta$) of the wall-wetting fuel model was determined from the measured fuel mass that was inducted into the cylinder at the first cycle after injection cut-off To reduce an air/fuel ratio fluctuation during rapid throttle opening, the appropriate fuel injection rate was obtain from the wall wetting model with empirical coefficients. Result of air/fuel ratio control, air/fuel excursion was reduced.

  • This paper describes the AC accelerated ageing characteristics of zinc oxide varistors for the station class lightning surge arresters. ZnO varistors whose rated voltage were 3.27kV, 4.00kV, and 6.00kV were manufactured with general ceramic production methods. The power loss of sample A varistors rapidly increased and eventually showing the thermal run-away, but sample B and sample C varistors exhibited negative creep phenomena in power losses during the test.

  • Modern vehicles require a high degree of refinement including good driveability. Vehicle driveability, which becomes a key decisive factor f3r marketability, is affected by many parameters such as engine control and the dynamic characteristics in drive lines. Therefore engine and drive train characteristics should be considered to achieve a well balanced vehicle response simultaneously. This paper describes experimental procedures which have been developed to measure engine torque and investigate shuffle characteristics. To analyze the vehicle dynamic behavior, fractional torques and inertia mass moment of engine, and drive train were measured. Shuffle characteristics during tip-in condition were investigated in an experimental vehicle at 2nd and 3rd gear stages. It was found that the shuffle characteristics were caused by sudden changes of engine torque and have a different vibration frequency with gear stage variation. Inertia mass moment of engine including flywheel rotation showed a key factor for the shuffle characteristics.

  • Modern vehicles require a high degree of refinement, including good driveability to meet customer demands. Vehicle driveability, which becomes a key decisive factor for marketability, is affected by many parameters such as engine control and the dynamic characteristics in drive lines. Therefore, Engine and drive train characteristics should be considered to achieve a well balanced vehicle response simultaneously. This paper describes analysis procedures using a mathematical model which has been developed to simulate spark timing control logic. Inertia mass moment, stiffness and damping coefficient of engine and drive train were simulated to analyze the effect of parameters which were related vehicle dynamic behavior. Inertia mass moment of engine and stiffness of drive line were shown key factors for the shuffle characteristics. It was found that torque increase rate, torque reduction rate and torque recovery timing and rate influenced the shuffle characteristics at the tip-in condition for the given system in this study.
