The Effect of Organic Acids in Decontamination Solution on Ion Exchange of Metal Ions (제염용액내 유기산이 금속이온 이온교환에 미치는 영향)

  • In decontamination process to remove radioactive materials of reactor cooling system, the metal ions dissolved by organic acids in decontamination solution are separated by use of ion exchange resin in the column. However, organic acids in decontamination solution decrease the apparent affinity of the resin to metal ions. In light of this, some experiments were carried out on the Amberlite IRN-77 cation resin with cobalt and iron to gain a better understanding of the complexation effects on the ion exchange process. Experimental results showed that EDTA among organic acids used as chemical decontaminants predominantly caused reduction of ion exchange capacity of cobaltous ion to resin since this reagent formed the complex with the cobaltous ion stronger than that with the ferrous ion. In contrast, the effects of oxalic acid and citric acid were found to be negligible. And, single and two-component nonlinear equilibrium relationships of the metal ions were established using experimental data.

  • The separation efficiency of metal ions by using the poly-NTOE(1, 12-diaza-3, 4:9, 10-dibenzo-5, 8-dioxacyclopentadeca-1, 12-ylene-2, 7-dihydroxyoctamethylene) has been determined by column chromatography in aqueous solution. Binding constants and separation factors for several poly-NTOE interactions were measured in aqueous solution.   • Result of this study indicate that two criteria must be met in order to have effective macrocycle-mediated transport in these emulsionsystem. First, one must effective extraction of the post transition metals, $Cd^{2+}$. $Pb^{2+}$ and $Hg^{2+}$ , into toluene membrane. The effectiveness of this extraction is greatest if log K values for the metal-macrocycle interaction is large. Second, the ratio of the log K values for the metal ion-receiving phase to the metal ion-macrocycle interaction must be large enough to ensure quantitative stripping of the metal ion at the toluene phase interface. Control of the first step can be obtained by appropriate selection of macrocycle donor atom, substituents, and cavity radius. The second step can be controlled by selecting the proper complexing agent for inclusion in the receiving phase. The order of the transport, when using the several $A^-$ species such as $SCN^-$, $1^-$, $Br^-$ and $Cl^-$ is the order of the changing degree of solvation for $A^-$ and the transport of the metals is also affected by the control of concentration for receiving species because of solubility-differences. In this study, we can seperate each single metal ion from the mixture of $Cd^{2+}$, $Pb^{2+}$, and $Hg^{2+}$ ions by using the toluene membranes controlled by optimized conditions. Transport of the single metal is also very good, and alkaline and alkaline earth metals as interferences ions did not affect the seperation of the metals in this macrocycle-liquid membrances but transition metal ions were partially affected as interferences for the post transition metal ions.

  • 집속이온빔장치(FIB: Focused Ion Beam System)에 사용하는 액체금속이온원(LMIS: Liquid Metal Ion Source)은 고 전류밀도, 고 휘도, 낮은 에너지퍼짐 등 많은 장점이 있다. 집속이온빔장치는 주로 표면 분석, 집적 회로의 수정, 마스크 교정(Repair) 및 잘못된 부분의 분석(Failure Analysis) 등에 사용되고 있는데 최근에는 고 분해능의 이온빔 리소그래피와 이온 주입의 기술 및 미세가공 기술 등의 분야에 집중되고 있으며 이를 위해서는 집속이온빔장치의 수렴성(Convergence)을 개선해 나가는 것이 중요하다. 집속이온빔장치의 수렴성은 이온빔의 에너지 퍼짐(Energy Spread)과 각 분포(Angular Distribution)에 많은 영향을 받으며 에너지퍼짐 특성은 색수차에 직접적인 영향을 준다. 수렴성을 개선하기 위해 기존의 에미터(Emitter), 저장소(Reservoir), 추출극(Extractor)으로 제작된 액체금속이온원에 서프레서(Suppressor)라는 새로운 전극을 사용하여 이 전극의 유 무에 따른 각 분포의 변화에 대해 연구하였다.

  • 1-(2-Pyridylazo)-2-Naphthol (PAN) has been widely used as a spectrophotometric reagent and metallochromic indicator for many metal ions. In this work, the chelate reagent of PAN was used as mobile phase additive for the separation of metal ions by reversed phase chromatography. Metal ions could be detected by monitoring the effluent at 570 nm with spectrophotometric detector. In order to investigate retention behaviors of the metal ions, the chromatograms and capacity factors were obtained as the variation of pH, ionic strength and composition of organic modifier in mobile phase. Under the obtained optimum conditions, the mixtures of Fe(III), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Co(II) could be separated successfully and the calibration curves under the recommended conditions showed an excellent linearity. The detection limits(S/N) were feasible at the nanogram level.

  • Many researchers have reported that many biopolymers making up cell walls of the microorganisms display an ion-exchange property and play a major role in the sorption of the metal ions. Such polymers derived from microbial biomass are potentially useful as biosorbent materials for recovery various metal ions in industrial applications. although synthetic polymers such as ion-exchange resins and chelating resins have been widely used as commercial sorbents. In this study, valuable and commercial biopolymers for metal removal will be introduced.

  • 빠르고 정확한 글루코오스 농도 측정은 의료, 식품, 환경 등 다양한 산업에서 매우 중요하다. 글루코오스 산화효소를 기반으로 하는 현재 글루코오스 센서는 높은 감도와 선택성을 갖지만 온도변화나 다른 화학물 등 환경에 취약하다는 단점이 있다. 따라서 최근 비효소식 글루코오스 센서에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 금속-유기 구조체(MOFs)는 금속이온과 유기물 리간드로 구성된 결정성 다공체로, 큰 기공 크기와 비표면적, 안정성 등을 특징으로 갖는다. 대부분의 MOFs는 전기전도도가 낮지만 금속이온의 산화/환원, 리간드의 화학적 개질을 통해 전기화학분야에서도 다양하게 연구되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 글루코오스 농도 측정을 위한 전극촉매로 다양한 금속이온과 리간드로 이루어진 MOFs를 합성했다. 표면분석을 통해 MOFs의 전기화학적 처리 전후의 구조와 성질 변화를 관찰했고 전기화학적 분석을 통해 금속이온과 리간드의 종류가 감도, 선택성 등 글루코오스 검지 성능에 주는 영향을 분석했다. 그 결과 Ni, Co 기반의 MOFs가 글루코오스에 대해 높은 감도를 보였으며 이를 통해 MOFs의 글루코오스 센서로의 응용 가능성을 확인했다.

  • 본 연구에서는 인듐 액체금속이온원을 제작하여 빔 특성에 대해 연구를 하였으며, 기존의 연구를 하였던 갈륨 액체금속 이온원의 빔특성과 비교분석 하였다. 빔특성 분석을 위해 빔 안정도, 전류-전압특성곡선, 에너지 퍼짐을 측정하였다. 액체금속이온원에 사용되는 액체금속 저장소 및 바늘전극(tip)은 $500{\mu}m$의 직경을 갖는 텅스텐을 사용하였으며, 국내에서 제작된 제품을 사용하였다. 액체금속 저장소의 구조는 이전에 구상하여 연구가 이루어진 6개의 pre-etching된 텅스텐와이어(wire)가 묶여진 형태를 사용하였다.

Physicochemical Characteristics of Selective Adsorption of Tin Phosphate on the Transition metal ions (전이금속 이온에 대한 주석 인산염의 선택적 흡착에 관한 물리화학적 특성)

  • The adsorption and ion exchange properties of tin phosphate were studied in an aqueous solution of KCl, varing the pH and metal ion concentration in the solution. The data were explained on the basis of chemical equilibrium. Tin phosphate behaved as an acidic ion exchanger and had an adsorption selectivity toward the bivalent transition metal ions in the following order : Cu+2 > Co+2 > Ni+2. As in the case of a weekly acidic exchanger, the change in hydration of metal ions played the dominant role in determining the selectivity of tin phosphate. In all cases the extent of adsorption increased with an increase in temperature and concentration. The apperance of irregular kinks in the titration curves justified the presence of several exchangeable adsorption sites with different pKa values.
