Individual Pig Detection Using Kinect Depth Information (키넥트 깊이 정보를 이용한 개별 돼지의 탐지)

  • Abnormal situation caused by aggressive behavior of pigs adversely affects the growth of pigs, and comes with an economic loss in intensive pigsties. Therefore, IT-based video surveillance system is needed to monitor the abnormal situations in pigsty continuously in order to minimize the economic demage. In this paper, we propose a new Kinect camera-based monitoring system for the detection of the individual pigs. The proposed system is characterized as follows. 1) The background subtraction method and depth-threshold are used to detect only standing-pigs in the Kinect-depth image. 2) The moving-pigs are labeled as regions of interest. 3) A contour method is proposed and applied to solve the touching-pigs problem in the Kinect-depth image. The experimental results with the depth videos obtained from a pig farm located in Sejong illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method.

  • 밀집된 돈방에서 사육되는 돼지의 공격적인 행동들은 돼지의 성장에 심각한 악영향을 주고, 이는 농가의 경제적 손실로 이어진다. 따라서 돈방 내의 비정상 상황들을 지속적으로 모니터링할 수 있는 IT기반의 영상 감시 시스템이 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 돼지의 행동 분석 이전에 필수적으로 선행되어야 하는 개별 돼지의 탐지를 위한 키넥트 카메라 기반의 새로운 모니터링 시스템을 제안한다. 먼저, 배경차영상 기법과 깊이 임계값을 이용하여 서있는 돼지만을 탐지한다. 둘째, 서있는 돼지들 중에서 움직임이 있는 돼지만을 관심영역으로 설정하여 탐지한다. 마지막으로, 서서 움직이는 돼지들 사이에서 발생하는 근접 문제를 깊이 정보를 이용한 등고선기법을 제안 적용하여 돼지 객체의 탐지를 완성한다. 실제 세종에 위치한 한 돈사에서 취득한 깊이 영상 정보를 이용하여 본 논문에서 제안하는 시스템의 성능을 실험적으로 검증하였다.

  • Recently, the technologies related to autonomous drive has studying the goal for safe operation and prevent accidents of vehicles. There is radar and camera technologies has used to detect obstacles in these autonomous vehicle research. Now a day, the method for using LiDAR sensor has considering to detect nearby objects and accurately measure the separation distance in the autonomous navigation. It is calculates the distance by recognizing the time differences between the reflected beams and it allows precise distance measurements. But it also has the disadvantage that the recognition rate of object in the atmospheric environment can be reduced. In this paper, point cloud data by triangular functions and Line Regression model are used to implement measurement algorithm, that has improved detecting objects in real time and reduce the error of measuring separation distances based on improved reliability of raw data from LiDAR sensor. It has verified that the range of object detection errors can be improved by using the Python imaging library.

Touching Pigs Segmentation and Tracking Verification Using Motion Information (움직임 정보를 이용한 근접 돼지 분리와 추적 검증)

  • The domestic pigsty environment is highly vulnerable to the spread of respiratory diseases such as foot-and-mouth disease because of the small space. In order to manage this issue, a variety of studies have been conducted to automatically analyze behavior of individual pigs in a pig pen through a video surveillance system using a camera. Even though it is required to correctly segment touching pigs for tracking each pig in complex situations such as aggressive behavior, detecting the correct boundaries among touching pigs using Kinect's depth information of lower accuracy is a challenging issue. In this paper, we propose a segmentation method using motion information of the touching pigs. In addition, our proposed method can be applied for detecting tracking errors in case of tracking individual pigs in the complex environment. In the experimental results, we confirmed that the touching pigs in a pig farm were separated with the accuracy of 86%, and also confirmed that the tracking errors were detected accurately.

  • Tracking and detecting targets by the microwave seeker is affected by the clutter reflecting from the earth's surface. In order to detect retreating targets in look-down scenario, which appear in the sidelobe clutter (SLC) region, in the microwave seeker of high pulse repetition frequency (HPRF) mode, it is necessary to understand statistical characteristics of the surface SLC. Statistical analysis of SLC has been conducted for several kinds of the surface using data obtained by the captive flight test of the microwave seeker in the HPRF mode. The probability density function (PDF) fitting is conducted for several kinds and conditions of the surface. PDFs and PDF parameters, which best describe statistical distribution of the SLC power, are estimated. By using the estimated PDFs and PDF parameters, analyses for setting the target-detection thresholds, which give a desired level of target-detection false alarm probability, are made. These analysis materials for statistical characteristics of SLC power and the target-detection threshold can be used in various fields, such as development of a target-detection method, the constant false alarm rate processing.

A Review of Aircraft Camouflage Techniques to Reduce Visual Detection (항공기 시각 탐지 감소 위장기술 고찰)

  • This study reviewed camouflage techniques to reduce the visual detect-ability of aircraft. Visual camouflage can be defined as the process of making objects less visible. Aircraft visual camouflage delays detection of the aircraft position, speed, and flight direction. Multi-tone and counter-shaded schemes are generally adopted as camouflage patterns for close-air-support aircraft and air-superiority aircraft, respectively. Another study showed that the monotone scheme is also efficient when the hue and brightness of the camouflage color are controlled correctly. Active camouflage techniques for aircraft have been studied to increase the camouflage effectiveness. In particular, counter-illumination techniques using electroluminescence devices can minimize the difference in brightness between the aircraft and sky background. Active camouflage techniques are expected to enhance the survivability of low-altitude UAVs, which are vulnerable to visual detection.

Leakage experiments and applications of leakage detection algorithm in the pilot plant of water distribution system (상수관망 파일럿플랜트에서의 누수실험 및 누수탐지 알고리즘의 적용)

  • In this study, algorithm for the selecting the optimum monitoring location and leakage detection algorithm based on back tracing calculation method were developed and verified by the experiments in pilot plant of water distribution system. First of all, optimum monitoring locations were selected and pressure changes were measured due to artificial leakage by pressure gauges in pilot plant. Simulations of leakage detection was performed for the verification of back tracing calculation method as a leakage detection method. From the results, it was found that leakage locations and leakage amount were exactly estimated. Various leakage amount from $0.0005m^3/s$ to $0.0018m^3/s$ were reproduced and leakage location was detected by back tracing calculation method. It was verified that back tracing calculation method as a leakage detection method is effective.

  • 음원의 위치를 찾는 문제에 있어서 비독립 음원들이 존재하는 경우, 근접장에서는 음원으로부터 나오는 파형을 평면파로 가정할 수 없고 구면파로 가정해야 하며, 여러개의 비독립 음원이 존재한다고 가정하여 각각의 음원의 위치를 변화시켜 가면서 MUSIC파워를 계산하여야 한다. 실제 음원의 갯수보다 가정한 음원의 갯수가 작으면 정확한 음원의 위치를 가르키지 못하며 MUSIC 파워 값도 작다. 실제 음원의 갯수와 가정한 음원의 갯수가 같으면 정확한 음원의 위치를 가르치며 MUSIC 파워 값이 크게 얻어진다. 실제 음원의 갯수보다 가정한 음원의 갯수가 큰 경우 실제의 음원의 위치를 포함하여 다른 음원의 위치를 얻을 수 있으나 그 음원의 세기는 무시할 정도로 작다. 즉 실제 음원의 갯수보다 많은 수의 음원을 가정하여 음원을 탐지할 수 있다. 일반 음장 즉 독립 음원과 비독립 음원이 공존하는 경우 실제의 음원의 갯수만큼 가정한다면 음원이 위치를 찾을 수 있다.
