  • This paper proposes a compact K-band radar applied to a miniature proximity fuze for the active defense system. In this terrestrial environment, it is not easy to detect approaching small targets because the clutter is scattered. In addition, it is difficult to miniaturize the radar for the small proximity fuze while improving the target accuracy of the radar in such environments. To solve these difficulties, this study presents system analysis and design, antenna design, and transceiver and signal processor design of the compact K-band radar. Some test results are presented and the results are analyzed, the validity of the proposed study is examined.

  • This paper describes the fundamentals, design, realization and test results of a BPSK(Bi Phase Shift Keying) transceiver for the direction finding proximity fuze sensor for anti-aircrafts or air missiles. The BPSK transceiver for the direction finding fuze sensor has been designed to detect a moving target by Doppler signal processing with the code correlation method and to distinguish direction by comparing received powers of each Doppler signal from adjacent three receiving antennas. The electrical and ESS(Environmental Stress Screening) tests of the BPSK transceiver showed satisfactory results and target detection and direction finding performances proved to be successful through dynamic operation tests by 155 mm gun firing.

  • We have studied the numerical analysis about the fragment ejection velocity and spray angle when the High Explosive warhead detonated at proximity distance at an aircraft. To study the physical quantities about the warhead components is very important to assessment the vulnerability of aircraft. Generally, the physical quantities about the components of a warhead such as the mass, length, diameter and charge to mass ratio are unknown. Therefore, it is required to estimate the physical quantities by using physical continuities of similar threats. The empirical formulas to understand the dependence among charge to mass ratio, length and diameter ratio were driven by using the physical parameters of similar threatening such as terrier, sparrow. As a result, we confirmed that the dead mass ratio was closed to 20% of warhead mass since the metal case of the proximity threat acts as a simple carrier. This implies that the effective length and diameter of High Explosive Compound is smaller than the length and diameter of warhead, and become a key to understand the large ejection gradient velocity and small spray angle of fragments within 6 degree.

  • A modern artillery use a FMCW Proximity Fuze for effectively target destruction. FMCW Proximity Fuze can be deceived by Jamming Technique because it uses RF for distance estimation. FMCW Proximity Fuze algorithm is similar to FMCW radar's, but normal Jamming Tech. like Noise and Mulitone is useless. Most Shots with FMCW Proximity Fuze have a additional mechanical fuze against RF Jamming. Shots explode by mechanical fuze when Proximity Fuse is Jammed. However, distance Deception is available because shots can not distinguish between deception jamming signal and ground reflected signal. For making Distance Deception Jamming, FMCW signal tracking is demanded. In this paper, we propose a FMCW tracking method and develop the Jammer to show Jamming signal.

  • This paper presents the direction finding proximity fuze sensor using the clutter rejection method and the adaptive target detection algorithm for anti-air missiles. To remove effects by clutter and detect a target accurately, the clutter rejection method of Legendre sequence with BPSK(Bi phase Shift Keying) modulation has been proposed and the Doppler signal which has cross correlation characteristics is obtained from reflected target signals. Considering the change of the Doppler signal, the adaptive target detection algorithm has been developed and the direction finding algorithm has been fulfilled by comparing received powers from adjacent three receiving antennas. The encounter simulation test apparatus was made to collect and analyze reflected signal and test results showed that the -10 dBsm target was detected over 10 meters and the target with mesh clutter was detected and direction was distinguished definitely.

  • We herein analyze the survivability of an airborne platform when an active decoy delivers jamming attacks against an active RF seeker system that operates based on the proportional navigation guidance law. In encounter scenarios with various conditions, such as platform maneuvering, the decoy's RF specification, and the seeker's approaching range and angles, the missed distance of the RF seeker is evaluated. By comparing the missed distance with the proximity of the fuze range, the platform's survivability is determined and the survival area of the platform is drawn on several encounter scenarios.

  • Measurements of the peripheral dose were performed using a 2D array ion chamber and solid water phantom for a $10{\times}10cm$, source-surface distance (SSD) 90cm, 6 and 15MV photon beam at depths of 0.5cm, 5cm through $d_{max}$. Measurements of peripheral dose at 0.5cm and 5cm depths were performed from 1cm to 5cm outside of fields for the dynamic wedge and physical wedge $15^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$. For 6MV photon beam, the average peripheral dose of dynamic wedge were lower by 1.4% and 0.1% than that of physical wedge For 15MV photon beam, the peripheral dose of dynamic wedge were lower by maximum 1.6% that of physical wedge. The results showed that dynamic wedge can reduce scattered dose of clinical organ close to the field edge. The wedge systems produce different peripheral dose that should be considered in properly choosing a wedge system for clinical use.
