Myofascial pain is a condition associated with regional pain and muscle tenderness characterized by the presence of myofascial trigger points. In this case report, a subject complaining of nighttime bruxism was clinically assessed, and a latent trigger point of the anterior temporalis muscle was identified with manual palpation. A surface electromyographic (SEMG) exam of the anterior temporalis muscle harboring the latent trigger point demonstrated several SEMG features, including post-contraction irritability, delayed relaxation following contraction and accelerated muscle fatigue. It was concluded that a SEMG exam may detect abnormal masticatory muscle function and, therefore, assist in the evaluation of myogenous temporomandibular disorders.
Histological changes occurred by freezing storage and subsequent thawing, and changes of muscle fiber after heating and drying of the eel (Anguilla japonica) were observed under microscope . The results are as follows : (1) After one month of freezing storage the muscular tissue produced considerable number of extracellular and intracellular ice crystals. The sample stored at the temperature of $-40^{\circ}C$ produced ice crystals inside the muscle cells while sample stored at $-20^{\circ}C$, outside. (2) No changes were observed in the hypodermic fat after thawing regardless of storage temperature, while insufficient recovering of muscle cells were detected in the muscular tissue. Muscular tissues which have been stored $-20^{\circ}C$ showed severe change in shape due to dehydration. (3) Microscopic observation on muscle homogenate showed loss of transparency due to free-zing, disfiguration and contraction by drying and water seperation, and elasticity by heating.

The heifer electrocardiograph is a widely progressing research which is used in judgement to existence for a heart disease and analyzes electric potential changes of heart movement during continuous living of everyday after attaching to body portable holler recorder for twenty-four hours. In order to obtain electrocardiogram clearly, it must eliminate that 60Hz power line interference, baseline wandering, noise of muscle constriction. In holter electrocardiogram, the most big problem which is recorded signal of ECG(electrocardiogram) is a baseline wandering elimination, which is occurred by rhythm of respiration and muscle constriction of part from attaching to an electrode. Such baseline is roughly irregular wandering and shaking up and down therefore the part of baseline wandering elimination is very important because it is difficult of ECG diagnosis. In this study, it is stabilized baseline wandering in analog part as implementation f real-time signal processing digital filter so it is applicable to analyze patient's heart disease by way of design of baseline wandering elimination system.
Electromyogram (EMG) is the bioelectric signal induced by motor nerves. Analyzing EMG with the movement produced by muscle contraction, we can provide input commands to a computer as a man-machine interface as well as can evaluate the patient's motional abnormality. In this paper, we developed an integrated miniaturized device which acquires and transmits the surface EMG of an interested muscle. Developed system measures $60{\times}40{\times}25mm$, weighs 100g. Using an amplifier circuitry on the electrodes and the radio frequency transmission, the developed system dispenses with the use of cables among the electrodes, amplifier, and the post processing system (personal computer). The wiring used in conventional systems can be obstacle for natural motion and source of motion artifacts. In results, the developed system improves not only the signal-to-noise ration in dynamic EMG measurement, but also the user convenience. We propose a new human-computer interface as well as a dynamic EMG measurement system as a possible application of the developed system.

This study conducted a comparative analysis of the contraction pattern of trunk and lower limbs muscles of handicapped children with brain lesions during the use of foam pad and air pad for fixing a standing table to the body for pediatric patients with brain lesions using a standing table product applied with a pneumatic air fitting system. There was a difference in the measurement of muscle strength activity by muscle in accordance with pad type (foam pad vs. air pad). A large difference was found with big movements (movements of eating), while a small difference was discovered with small movements (writing and reading movements). This was found to furnish a little more comfort to users compared with the existing foam pad during the use of a standing table product applied with a pneumatic air fitting system.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of cerebral ischemia on Type I(soleus) and Type II(plantaris, gastrocnemius) muscles, and to determine the effects of isometric contraction training by electro- stimulation on Type I and II muscles in cerebral ischemia model rats. Method: Twenty-five male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups: ST(stroke), STES(stroke+electrostimulation), SH(sham) and SHES (sham+electrostimulation). The ST and STES groups received a transient right middle cerebral artery occlusion operation. The SH and SHES groups received a sham operation. The STES and SHES groups had daily isometric contraction training by electrostimulation(100Hz, 45mA, 7.5V) on hindlimb muscles for 7days. Result: Plantaris and gastrocenmius muscle weight, myofibrillar protein contents of soleus and gastrocnemius, and the muscle fiber cross-sectional area of gastrocnemius in the ST group significantly decreased compared with the SH group. Soleus, plantaris, gastrocnemius muscle weight, myofibrillar protein contents of soleus and gastrocnemius, and the Type I muscle fiber cross-sectional area of soleus and the Type II muscle fiber cross-sectional area of gastrocnemius in the STES group significantly increased compared with the 57 group. Conclusion: Hindlimb muscle atrophy occurs after acute stroke and isometric contraction training by electrostimulation during early stages of a stroke attenuates muscle atrophy of Type I and Type II muscles.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of craniocervical flexion exercise with masticatory muscle contraction in patients with neck pain. Patients with neck pain also experience muscle weakness and limitation of activities of daily living. Craniocervical flexion exercise with masticatory muscle contraction may increase the thickness of the deep cervical flexor muscles, thereby reducing pain and limitations on activities of daily living. METHODS: Twenty-six volunteers participated in this study. The subjects were randomly divided into an experimental group (n=13) and a control group (n=13). Both groups performed craniocervical flexion exercise using a pressure biofeedback unit; the experimental group performed craniocervical flexion exercise with masticatory muscle contraction for 20 minutes, 3 times a week for 4 weeks. Assessment tools included ultrasonography for measurement of muscle thickness and the Neck Disability Index for the level of pain and function. RESULTS: The rate of change in muscle thickness in both groups significantly increased (p<.05), with a significantly greater increase in the experimental group than in the control group (p<.05). The Neck Disability Index score significantly improved (p<.05) in both groups, with significantly greater improvement in the experimental group compared with the control group (p<.05). CONCLUSION: These results suggest that craniocervical flexion exercise with masticatory muscle contraction can be effective in increasing muscle thickness and improving the Neck Disability Index score in patients with neck pain.
