Optimum Design of Composite Structures using Metamodels (메타모델을 이용한 복합재료 구조물의 최적 설계)

  • In this research, the optimization of composite structures was performed using metamodels. The optimization of composite structures requires a lot of time when optimizing the result of the time-consuming analysis. Thus, metamodels are used to replace the time-consuming analysis with simple models. RSM, kriging and neural networks are widely used metamodels. RSM and kriging were used in this study. The ultimate failure load analysis of the composite structure was approximated by metamodels. The optimizations of the composite plate were performed to maximize ultimate failure load using genetic algorithm and metamodels.

  • Electric vehicle body has to be subjected to uniform load and demand auxiliary equipment such as air pipe, electric wire pipe and gas pipe. Especially, lightweight vehicle body is salutary to save operating costs and fuel consumption. Cross beam supports the weight of passenger and electrical equipments and account for the most of weight of vehicle body. Therefore this study performs the size and the shape optimization of crossbeam for electric vehicle using GENESIS 7.0 and presents the effect of mass reduction and the shape of hole in cross beam.

번들-분해법을 이용한 대규모 비분리 콘벡스 프로그램 해법 - 수치 적용결과

  • 블록-삼각(Block-angular)구조를 갖는 선형 제약식과 분리되지 않는 콘벡스 목적함수의 대규모 비분리 콘벡스 최적화 문제의 해법으로 번들-분해법 (Bundle Based Decomposition)을 이용한 알고리즘 SQA(Separable Quadratic Approximation)은 비분리 콘벡스 프로그램을 분리가능한 2차계획 법(Separable Quadratic Programming) 문제로 근사화시켜 번들-분해법을 축 차적으로 적용한다. 본 연구는 수렴성(local convergence & global convergence) 및 알고리즘 구현 [1]에 이어 이에 대한 수치적용 결과를 중심 으로 소개한다. 수치 적용은 ANSI C로 작성된 SQA 프로그램을 SUN SPARC II에서 실행하였으며 이때 대규모 비분리 최적화 문제의 비분리 목 적함수와 블록-삼각 구조의 선형 제약식들이 계수들은 ANSI C의 랜덤함수 로부터 임의의 값들을 이용하였다. 이와같은 다양한 비분리 콘벡스 최적화 문제에 대한 수렴성, 반복회수 및 처리시간등의 결과와 함께 GAMS/MINOS 의 최적해를 소개한다.

Image Completion Using Hierarchical Priority Belief Propagation (Hierarchical Priority Belief Propagation 을 이용한 이미지 완성)

  • 본 논문은 이미지 완성(Image Completion)을 위한 근사적 에너지 최적화 알고리즘을 제안한다. 이미지 완성이란 이미지의 특정영역이 지워진 상태에서, 그 지워진 부분을 나머지 부분과 시각적으로 어울리도록 완성시키는 기법을 말한다. 본 논문에서 이미지 완성은 유사-확률적(pseudo-probabilistic) 시스템인 Markov Random Field로 모델링된다. MRF로 모델링된 이미지 완성 시스템에서 사후 확률(posterior probability)을 최대로 만드는 MAP(Maximum A Posterior) 문제는 결국 시스템의 전체 에너지를 낮추는 에너지 최적화 문제와 동일하다. 본 논문에서는 MRF의 최적화 알고리즘들 중에서 Belief Propagation 알고리즘을 이용한다. BP 알고리즘이 이미지 완성 분야에 적용될 때 다음 두 가지가 계산시간을 증가시키는 요인이 된다. 첫 번째는 완성시킬 영역이 넓어 MRF를 구성하는 정점의 수가 증가할 때이다. 두 번째는 비교할 후보 이미지 조각의 수가 증가할 때이다. 기존에 제안된 Priority-Belief Propagation 알고리즘은 우선순위가 높은 정점부터 메시지를 전파하고 불필요한 후보 이미지 조각의 수를 제거함으로써 이를 해결하였다. 하지만 우선순위를 정점에 할당하기 위한 최초 메시지 전파의 경우 Belief Propagation의 단점은 그대로 남아있다. 이를 개선하기 위해 본 논문에서는 이미지 완성을 위한 MRF 모델을 피라미드 구조와 같이 층위로 나누어 정점의 수를 줄이고, 계층적으로 메시지를 전파하여 시스템의 적합성(fitness)을 정교화 해나가는 Hierarchical Priority Belief Propagation 알고리즘을 제안한다.

  • The lower flash points for the n-pentanol+n-propionic acid and n-pentanol+n-butyric acid systems, in air at atmospheric pressure, were measured by using Pensky-Martens closed cup apparatus. The experimental data were compared with the values calculated by the Raoult's law and optimization method. The calculated values based on the optimization method were found to be better than those based on the Raoult's law.

  • Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) is a technique that delivers a high dose to a target legion and a low dose to a critical organ through only one or a few irradiations. For this purpose, many mathematical methods for optimization have been proposed. There are some limitations to using these methods: the long calculation time and difficulty in finding a unique solution due to different tumor shapes. In this study, many clinical target shapes were examined to find a typical pattern of tumor shapes from which some possible ideal geometrical shapes, such as spheres, cylinders, cones or a combination, are assumed to approximate real tumor shapes. Using the arrangement of multiple isocenters, optimum variables, such as isocenter positions or collimator size, were determined. A database was formed from these results. The optimization procedure consisted of the following steps: Any shape of tumor was first assumed to an ideal model through a geometry comparison algorithm, then optimum variables for ideal geometry chosen from the predetermined database, followed by a final adjustment of the optimum parameters using the real tumor shape. Although the result of applying the database to other patients was not superior to the result of optimization in each case, it can be acceptable as a plan starling point.

  • A rotor overlap technique was adapted to improve the performance of a axial turbine. The technique secured sufficient flow passage by additional height at the rotor tip and hub. especially in a supersonic turbine, the technique reduced the chance of chocking in the rotor passage, and made to be satisfied the design pressure ratio. However, the technique also made additional losses, like a pumping loss, expansion loss, etc. Therefore, a optimization technique was appled to maximize the improvement of the turbine performance. An approximate optimization method was used for the investigation to secure the computational efficiency. The design variables was shape factors of a rotor overlap. Results indicated that a significant improvement in turbine performance can be achieved through the optimization of the rotor overlap.

  • This paper considers a simultaneous optimization problem of structure and control systems. The problem is generally formulated as a non-convex optimization problem for the design parameters of mechanical structure and controller. Therefore, it is not easy to obtain the global solutions for practical problems. In this paper, we parameterize all design parameters of the mechanical structure such that the parameters work in the control system as decentralized static output feedback gains. Using this parameterization, we have formulated a simultaneous optimization problem in which the design specification is defined by the Η$_2$and Η$\_$$\infty$/ norms of the closed loop transfer function. So as to lead to a convex problem we approximate the nonlinear terms of design parameters to the linear terms. Then, we propose a convex optimization method that is based on linear matrix inequality (LMI). Using this method, we can surely obtain suboptimal solution for the design specification. A numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • 3-Dimensional flow which is represented by horseshoe vortex is generated as a type of secondary flow about the main flow. As well, it causes the flow loss. The present study deals with the leading edge fence shape on a wing-body junction to decrease a horseshoe vortex, one of the main factors to generate the secondary flow losses. The shape of leading-edge fence was optimized with the design variables of the installed height, length, width, and thickness of the fence as the design variables. Approximate optimization design method is used as the optimization. The study was investigated using $FLUENT^{TM}$ and $iSIGHT^{TM}$. Total pressure coefficient of the optimized design case was decreased about 7.5 % compare to the baseline case.

Improvement of the Aerothermal Environment for a 90° Turning Duct by the Nonaxisymmetric Endwall (90° 곡관에서의 비축대칭 끝벽면을 이용한 열유동 환경 개선)

  • This paper presents the shape optimization of the endwall which improve the aerothermal environment of a gas turbine passage. A nonaxisymmetric endwall technique was adapted as the improving method. The turbine passage was simulated by a $90^{\circ}$ turning duct ($Re_D$=360,000). The main purpose of the present investigation was to focus on finding a nonaxisymmetric endwall with minimum total pressure loss in the passage and heat transfer coefficient on the endwall of the duct. An approximate optimization method was used for the investigation to secure the computational efficiency. Results indicated that a significant improvement in aerothermal environment can be achieved through the application of a nonaxisymmetric endwall.
