This study aimed to compare the effects of sit-to-stand training, or training to stand up from sitting positions at various seat heights, on the balance recovery among stroke patients. This study included 20 stroke patients who were randomly divided into two groups. Each group was trained for six weeks, three times a week from March to June 2019. Static balance and dynamic balance were measured, and the variations were analyzed using the paired t-test and the independent t-test. There were significant changes observed in both static and dynamic balance (p<.05) before and after training. However, no significant changes were seen in the static balance in the standing posture with eyes closed (p>.05). This study confirmed that there was a significant effect of training on the balance of stroke patients, especially when progressively lower seat heights were used during the training. This suggests new directions for treatment during rehabilitation for balance recovery of stroke patients. Further studies will need to apply this training to a larger number of subjects, and use various training methods such as randomization of seat height to enable the generalization of the results of this study and application in clinical practice.
Objective : To identify the effect of symmetrical and asymmetric bilateral training For stroke patients in upper extremity recovery. Methods : 15 patients with stroke, randomized to an in- phase group(n =7) and anti-phase group(n =8). Each groups received symmetrical and asymmetric bilateral training, 30-min sessions per a day for 5 weeks, total 20 session.Accelerometer was used to evaluate the amount used for both groups. Y-BAT was used to evaluate performance status and satisfaction, ARAT was used to evaluate hand function. Results : the amount used of symmetrical movement training showed significant changes in affected and unaffected side. asymmetric bilateral training. there is a significant difference in affected side before and after receiving asymmetric bilateral training. Also, There was a significant difference between the groups on the affected side. Both training, there was no significant difference in performance, satisfaction, and upper limb function between group but, there was significant differences within-groups, Conclusions : Symmetric training showed higher motor performance than asymmetric training, but, To obtain a clearer difference, it would be necessary to use a neuromuscular assessment tool such as fMRI. Also, need a clearer training protocol and the need for follow-up studies on more stroke patients is suggested.
The effects of inspiratory muscle training in conjunction with aerobic exercise on inspiratory muscle strength, pulmonary function, and maximal oxygen uptake(VO2max) were examined. Twenty four healthy collegiate men were divided into three groups; respiratory muscle training group(RTG; n=8), running exercise group(REG; n=8), and both respiratory muscle training and running group(BTG; n=8). Their pulmonary function, maximal inspiratory pressures(PImax), and VO2max were assessed before and after intervention. RTG underwent inspiratory muscle training(IMT) with load set to 50 % of PImax, 30 times per session, twice a day, 4 days a week REG ran on a treadmill at 70-75 % of VO2max for 30 min a day, 4 days a week. BTG participated both IMT and the running exercise. Participant's anthropometric parameters and pulmonary function were not changed. VO2max increased by 6.1±3.3 %, 5.9±6.6 %, and 10.0±8.3 % in RTG, REG, and BTG, respectively(p< .05), and PImax also increased by 21.7±14.3 %, 19.7±12.0 %, and 27.0±12.1 % in RTG, REG, and BTG, respectively, but no group differences were found. Based on the study, although statistically insignificant, BTG showed the biggest increase of VO2max and PImax indicating a possible synergic effect of inspiratory muscle training and aerobic exercise on respiratory responses.

The study has compared normally developed children and children who were diagnosed as autism spectrum in goal management training them to observe the effect. The research was conducted to four normally developed children and four children who were diagnosed as autism spectrum, and all subjects were provided with identical goal management training. The children and the caregivers have selected desired objectives activity, and all three activities were followed by goal management training. Intervention periods were conducted ten times in total, two times a week for five weeks, and eight subjects in the two groups were trained one on one by the researcher. The training time was 40 minutes for every session. The descriptive statistics and frequency analysis were used as the statistical method, and the Mann-Whitney test, the nonparametric statistical analysis, was conducted to compare the difference between the two groups. Goal management training for two groups did not show a statistically significant difference in terms of the performance status of Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (p>.05). In the summary of Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency (2nd) which evaluates the motor skill, there was a statistically significant difference between the autism spectrum disorder group and normal group (p<.05). Additionally, the two groups showed a statistically significant difference in eye-hand coordination sub-test among Developmental Test of Visual Perception (2nd) which evaluates the visual perception performance (p<.05). The research has confirmed the applicability of goal management training to children with autism spectrum compared to the normally developed children, and it has confirmed the effectiveness of the training.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of bodyblade training on pain and trunk muscle activity in patients with chronic low back pain. A sample of 30 subjects were recruited for this study. Bodyblade training group(n=10) was performed bodyblade training three times a week for six weeks, lumbar stabilization training group(n=10) was performed lumbar stabilization training three times a week for six weeks, and control group(n=10) wasn't performed any other training. For evaluation of trunk muscle activity, surface EMG was used and for evaluation of pain, VAS was measured. The results were as follows: trunk muscle activity, there was significant difference according to the measurement, pain, there was significant difference according to the measurement. From the results, bodyblade training is expected to be an effective intervention for patients with chronic back pain.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of task oriented activity and modified constraint induced movement therapy (mCIMT) on Quality of Life (QOL) for patients with stroke. Methods : Thirty stroke patients were participated voluntarily and were assigned randomly into task oriented activity and mCIMT groups. The QOL of both groups were assessed using Stroke Specific Quality of Life (SS-QOL). Results : The QOL showed a statistically meaningful difference for both groups (p<.05), but after the intervention, the both groups showed no statistically meaningful difference in terms of the QOL (p>.05). Conclusion : We found that task oriented activity and mCIMT improve the QOL of patients with stroke through increasing their affected upper extremity function and movement. It is expected that task oriented activity and mCIMT will have a positive effect on the QOL of stroke patients by applying them to clinic with occupational therapy.
