  • In this study, in order to develop ultra rapid hardening mortar(URHM) for tunnel repairs using bottom ash of low recycle ratio and Admixture as Eco concept, watertightness and durability properties of URHM on temperature condition of construction field were performed. Test result, seepage quantity and water absorption coefficient regarding watertightness of URHM were as in the following : series II > series I. Seepage quantity for the standard condition were smaller than low temperatures. all specimens were satisfied below 20g as standards of seepage quantity on KS F 4042. Because of the decrease of unit cement content by to replacement of blast furnace slag, the neutrlization resistance for durability properties was reduced. The result of alkali resistance and acide resistance, compressive strengths for specimens soaked in calcium hydroxide solution of seriesI were lower than compressive strengths for specimens not soaked. On the other hand, the case of series II show that the deterioration of compressive strengths for specimens was not almost showed. Compressive strengths of specimens soaked were similar with specimens not soaked except series II-C in $5^{\circ}C$. Therefore, specimens using both blast furnace slag and bottom ash were good in alkali resistance and acide resistance.

  • In a performance-based design, the structural safety is estimated from pre- defined damage states and corresponding damage indices. Both damage states and damage indices are well defined for above-ground structures, but very limited studies have been performed on underground structures. In this study, we define the damage states and damage indices of a cut-and-cover box tunnel which is one of typical structures used in metro systems, under a seismic excitation from a series of inelastic frame analyses. Three damage states are defined in terms of the number of plastic hinges that develop within the structure. The damage index is defined as the ratio of the elastic moment to the yield moment. Through use of the proposed index, the inelastic behavior and failure mechanism of box tunnels can be simulated and predicted through elastic analysis. In addition, the damage indices are linked to free-field shear strains. Because the free-field shear strain can be easily calculated from a 1D site response analysis, the proposed method can be readily used in practice. Further studies are needed to determine the range of shear strains and associated uncertainties for various types of tunnels and site profiles. However, the inter-linked platform of damage state - damage index - shear wave velocity - shear strain provides a novel approach for estimating the inelastic response of tunnels, and can be widely used in practice for seismic designs.

  • This research have investigated the application and the injection effect of the alkaline silicasol grouting materia (which is) recently developed. To compare the engineering characteristics of the alkaline silicasol which is formed with 3D-gel and the sodium silicate, it have studied the strength and environmental effects through the laboratory test, and field application was investigated with a review of the injection effect and waterproof through the field test. As a result of the laboratory test, unconfined compression strength of alkaline silicasol was 5 times more than sodium silicate. As a result of the leaching test, a total amount of the eluviated elements was very small, it considered the environment-friendly material. As a result of the field test, considerable reduction of the coefficient of permeability at the hydraulic layer was confirmed, and it could secure that the coefficient of permeability showed a lower than standard value of $10^{-5}cm/sec$.

  • Bentonite-based grouting has been usually used for sealing a borehole installed for a closed-loop vertical ground heat exchanger in a geothermal heat pump system (GHP) because of its high swelling potential and low hydraulic conductivity. The bentonite-based grout, however, has relatively lower thermal conductivity than that of ground formation. Accordingly, it is common to add some additives such as silica sand into the bentonite-based grout for enhancing heat transfer. In this study, graphite is adapted to substitute silica sand as an addictive because graphite has very high thermal conductivity. The effect of graphite on the thermal conductivity of bentonite-based grouts has been quantitatively evaluated for seven bentonite grouts from different product sources. In addition, the viscosity of graphite-added bentonite grout was measured to evaluate the field pumpability of the grout.

The effect of graphite on the thermal conductivity of bentonite-based grouts has been quantitatively evaluated for seven bentonite grouts from different product sources. In addition, comparisons of viscosity between applications of graphite and silica sand as additives has been carried out. In conclusion, using graphite has thermal conductivity about three times higher than that of silica sand.

  • Anchor, soil nail and micropile have been widely used for slope reinforcement and foundation. These all methods need grouting work after placing reinforcing member. The pressure injection-grouting techniques helps to increase the bearing capacity of reinforcing member by enhancing larger effective pile diameter and increasing the radial stresses acting on the grout body and causing irregular surface. However, the pressure reinjection-grouting techniques is not commonly used because grouting equipment and practical application example are short and the verification of reinforcing effect is difficult. In this study, the laboratory test was performed to evaluate the reinforcing effect with variation of grouting methods in clay. As a result of the test, the pressure reinjection-grouting techniques showed that the pullout capacity of reinforcing member increased up to 1.22~2.61 times comparing to the gravity fill techniques.

  • This paper discussed the relationship between existing flowability test method and rheology test, and rheological flowable behaviour of Non Shrinkage Grouting Mortar(NSGM) based on rheological aspect. Five different grouting products are chosen and W/P are conformed to recommendation proposed by product company to meet KS F 4044. For rheological properties of NSGM, flowable behaviour can be explained by the assumption of Binghan model. Also, relationship between flowability test and rheology index of NSGM is confirmed based on this test. Increase of funneling time and decrease of flow led to increase rheology index.

  • Investigation for the high strength grouts using ordinary cement mortar, melamine formaldehyde condensate (MFC) with various admixtures was carried out. The physical properties of the grouts were investigated through the observation of the microstructure and the application of fracture mechanics. When the lime stone and fly ash was added with 6 wt% to the grouts, the compressive strength was about 72 MPa, 69 MPa respectively, and the flexural strength was about 11.9 MPa, 11.4 MPa respectively, the Young's modulus was about 4.3 GPa, 3.9 GPa, and the critical stress intensity was about 7.3 ×10-1MNm-1.5, 6.8×10-1MNm-1.5 respectively. When the silica fume was added with 6 wt% to the grouts, the compressive strength and the flexural strength were 81 MPa, 12.3 MPa, Young's modulus was 4.8 GPa and the critical stress intensity was about 8.4×10-1MNm-1.5.
