Development of Verification System and Selection Process for Track Structure (궤도구조 성능검증체계 및 선정프로세스 구축)

  • Recently, with the beginning of the commercial operation of high-speed railway, there have been a number of changes in track structure fields. Also, it is expected that the development and introduction of new technology will be increased afterwards. However, it accompanies a lot of risk to install new track structures of which performance and safety are not verified on permanent ways with high traffic density. Therefore, to minimize the risk and enhance the adoption of new technology, it is required to develop a systemic verification system for track structure. To do this, in this paper, main contents of a draft of guidelines for track structure verification, and main issues in debate such as criteria and method for verification, test conditions and test periods are discussed. Also, a process to choose a most appropriate one for a specific project out of proven track structures by the above verification system, the selection process by the technical investigation committee and the VE process to analyze the economical and maintenance aspects based on LCC concept in Korea Rail Network Authority is introduced.

  • COMS is the one of Korean hybrid geostationary satellite and is scheduled to be launched in 2009 by Arian V into $128^{\circ}$ E longitude. COMS is designed and manufactured for three main objectives which are Communications, Oceanographic, and Meteorological missions. It provides the weather monitoring, ocean monitoring, and Ka band satellite communication services by means of three different payloads. The Ka band communications payload was developed by Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), and provides not only the digital transmission for the communication services against natural disaster but also digital transmission for the high speed multimedia services. This paper describes the overview of the electrical and mechanical design and measured performances of the Ka band communications transponder flight model (FM) for COMS.

  • 위성 탑재체 제조 산업은 기초 과학이 뒷받침된 초정밀 기계 공학, 첨단 전자 기술, 극한 환경 기술 및 신소재 공학 등과 같은 첨단 산업의 집합체라 할 수 있다. 현재 미국을 비롯한 서구 선진국에서 진행중인 탑재체 기술동향을 보면, 폭발적으로 증가하는 위성수에 따라 위성 궤도가 부족하고 주파수 자원이 고갈되고 있는 상황에서 통신 위성의 효율성과 성능을 향상시킬 수 있는 신호처리 탑재(OBP) 위성과 통신기능을 포함한 다양한 기능을 가진 복합위성 개발이 진행되고 있으며 주파수 대역의 포화와 광대역 멀티미디어 서비스 제공 등을 위해 보다 높은 주파수의 준 밀리미터파 대역(Ka 대역) 위성 개발이 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 국내에서는 현재, 2008년 발사를 목표로 마이크로스위치 매트릭스(MSM)가 탑재되어 빔간 스위칭이 가능하도록 설계된 통신해양기상위성(COMS)용 통신 탑재체(SACOM) 개발이 진행중이다. 국내의 위성탑재용 RF 부품분야는 1990년부터 위성 중계기 시스템의 기본적인 설계, 조립, 종합화, 시험기술을 바탕으로 통신위성 탑재체용 초고주파 부품을 개발하여 왔으며, 2000년대에는 Ku 대역(12/14GHz) 및 Ka 대역(20/30GHz) 기술인증모델(EQM) RF 부품을 성공적으로 개발하였다. 이를 바탕으로 통신해양기상위성 통신탑재체용 Ka 대역 RF 부품이 현재 우주인증 모델(QM)의 개발이 완료되었으며 비행 모델(FM) 개발이 진행중이다.

Driving Performance Simulation of Mining Robot for SMS deposits (해저열수광상 채광 로봇의 해저면 주행성능 시뮬레이션)

  • KIOST developed a deep-sea mining robot called "MineRo" to collect manganese nodules in 2007. MineRo operates on flat ground. SMS (seafloor massive sulfide) deposits are shaped like undulating mountains. This paper deals with a numerical analysis model of a mining robot for SMS deposits. The mining robot consists of a tracked vehicle, chassis structure with a turntable, boom arm with 2 articulations, excavation tool, discharging unit, hydro-electric system, and sensing-and-monitoring system. In order to compare and analyze the dynamic responses of the driving mechanism, various tracked vehicles are modeled using commercial software. Straight driving simulations are conducted under undulating ground conditions. A conceptual design of a mining robot with four track systems for SMS deposits is modeled on the basis of these results.

  • The operation speed improvement of the train in electric railway must pursue continuously and need the investigation of whole railway system whole. The high-speed of the train is related to not only vehicle technique but also the infrastructure, signal system, operation technique, the trolley line and catenary, economical efficiency. Specially, in case of electric railway, we have to consider a technical investigation which is current collection efficiency improvement, voltage drop countermeasure, equipment capacity, track force, signal system. In this paper, we presents the technical investigation of AT feeder system in order to achieve high speed train in exist real railroad. We proved this approach which will use the whole domestic lines in the future.

  • Control method for DACS with variable burning area is designed and the performance of the control method is analyzed by doing simulation at various conditions. DACS, which got solid propellant on board, is designed as end-burning type typically. End-burning type DACS has the merit of controlling pressure and thrust, but it discharges the combustion gas which does not using for getting thrust. Therefore, optimal design of propellant grain and burning area changes over time as a result. Variable burning area can be assumed as a disturbance and adaptive control method is useful for pressure control of DACS effected by disturbance.

Reaction Wheel Momentum Dumping with Magnetic Torquer Failure (자기토커 고장시 반작용휠 모멘텀 덤핑)

  • High precision pointing satellite uses the reaction wheels for the attitude control and their momentum dumping is performed by the three magnetic torquers. In this paper, the effects of one magnetic torquer's failure on the momentum dumping will be reviewed. When the satellite on the high inclination angle orbit holds LVLH (Local Vertical Local Horizontal) attitude, pitch axis magnetic torquer failure causes the momentum dumping failure. But in case of other torquer's failure, momentum dumping is still possible with degraded dumping performance. When pitch axis magnetic torquer fails, momentum dumping is possible by changing the satellite attitude. This paper propose the satellite attitude change to make the momentum dumping possible when pitch axis magnetic torquer fails. In addition, if torquer arrangement is modified, momentum dumping is always possible regardless of any torquer's failure.

  • The performance of satellite parts must be verified under the space orbit environment before the launch. This paper develops a model formula considering the thermal environment such as conduction, radiation, heat loss and internal heating between satellite parts and a small thermal vacuum chamber for thermal vacuum tests. System identification is carried out using test data from 20 recent thermal vacuum tests conducted by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute. It is verified that the model formula and the identification results are valid, except when the heating of the functional test of the test specimen is not constant.

  • The Divert and Attitude Control System(DACS) used in high-altitude engagements is expensive and complex. In this paper, we design a high-altitude terminal guidance and control loop of guided-missile equipped with a Thrust Vector Control(TVC) that is less expensive and simpler than DACS. The proposed system utilizes a quaternion feedback control technique to track the thrust attitude command converted from the acceleration command of true proportional navigation guidance. The performance analysis of the proposed terminal guidance and control loop is conducted through engagement simulations against ballistic targets at a high altitude.

Linkbudget Analysis of Palau Tracking Station Using Antenna Gain of Launch Vehicle (발사체 안테나 이득패턴을 이용한 팔라우추적소 링크버짓 분석)

  • In this paper, we analyzed linkbudget with comparing actual received level of telemetry system at Palau Tracking Station. Because Palau Tracking Station participated in the launch mission for the first time and lack of verification tests for antenna tracking and signal reception performance, we analyzed the linkbudget more accurately by predicting transmit antenna polarization gain according to the trajectory and attitude of launch vehicle. The analysis results were used to analyze signal reception range, antenna operation angle and LHCP/RHCP received level. The actual received level of the antenna was similar to the linkbudget result as a result of the launch mission operation.
