This paper concerns flexural strength of reinforced concrete beams containing recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) with compressive strength ranging from 31 to 38 MPa. The experimental parameters were replacement ratio of RCA and rebar ratio. Replacement ratio of RCA was 0, 30, 50 and 100%, and rebar ratio was 0.50, 0.79 and 1.14%. The RCA concrete beams were tested by using four-point bending test, and experimental results were discussed regarding crack and failure patterns, load-deflection relationship. Crack pattern of concrete beams with RCA was similar to that of concrete beams with natural coarse aggregate (NCA) but overall crack spacing of concrete beams with RCA was smaller than that of concrete beams with NCA. The crack width of RCA and NCA concrete beams was similar to each other. In addition, the test results of flexural strength were compared to the design code predictions. The design code predictions for flexural strength underestimated the experimental results. Therefore, the design code predictions for flexural strength of RCA concrete beams would offer conservative design.

The objective of this paper is to investigate experimentally the effect of the substitution of recycled aggregates under 13mm on the properties of the concrete using coarse aggregate with size of 13~25mm. Recycled aggregate under 13mm were substituted to the concrete ranged from 10% to 100%. To compare the properties with the case of recycled aggregate, crushed stone with smaller than 13mm was also substituted to the concrete by 20% and 40%. Test results showed that increase of recycled aggregate under 13mm resulted in the increase of slump and compressive strength compared with plain mixture, which was made with only aggregate with 13~25mm size. This is due to the dense gradation of aggregate in association with addition of relatively small particle. It is thought that the use of recycled aggregate under 13mm along with 30% contributes to the quality improvement of the concrete made with only 13~25mm aggregate.

Vicker's hardness and pore size distribution of mortar adhered to the recycled coarse aggregate were tested according to the strength level of original concrete of recycled coarse aggregate to find the change of mortar adhered to the recycled coarse aggregate in cement paste. The strength levels of original concrete of recycled coarse aggregate were 25.5MPa, 41.7MPa and 60.1MPa and the aggregates were used at the state of saturated surface dry condition and oven dry condition. The results of this experimentation indicated that the mean value of Vicker's hardness was increased according to age and strength of original concrete of recycled aggregate. Porosity of $100nm{\sim}10{\mu}m$ size was reduced and porosity of 6nm~100nm size was increased in cement paste.

This study assessed the use of zeolite with high absorption performance in landscape paving concrete as a substitute for aggregate. The absorption performance and strength properties of paving concrete were investigated according to the replacement rate of the zeolite coarse aggregate, and the mechanical properties were investigated through strength tests. The absorption rate of the zeolite aggregate was 14%, which is 2.5 times higher than that of general aggregate. When zeolite coarse aggregate is applied to paving concrete, the absorption rate increases according to the replacement rate. The absorption rate was 5.2% at a replacement rate of 50%, which was 42% higher than that of general paving concrete. The compressive strength increased to 20% of the replacement rate and decreased at a higher replacement, but all the strengths in the construction standard code were satisfied. The flexural strength satisfied the code up to a replacement rate of 10%, but the strength decreased with increasing replacement rate, and the splitting tensile strength was greater than that of paving concrete using general aggregate up to a 20% replacement rate. Overall, zeolite coarse aggregate can be applied as a substitute.

Re-damage is frequently occurring for various reasons, including material factors, external factors, and factors caused by poor construction in concrete cross-section restoration work, so it is necessary to identify the cause and improve it. Cement-based materials are the most commonly used maintenance materials for concrete structures, and in particular, additional cross-sectional restoration work may be carried out due to re-damage such as cracks and excitement due to dry contraction of the repair material. In this study, a basic study was conducted to identify the characteristics of concrete while diversifying the maximum dimensions and assembly rate of thick aggregates to examine the effects of using thick aggregates in repair materials. As a result, the slump of concrete increased as the maximum size of thick aggregates increased, and the amount of air content was measured 1.88 to 2.35 times higher in the mixing using aggregates with a maximum aggregate size of 5 mm or more compared to the mixing group with a maximum aggregate size of 10 mm or more. It was found that compressive strength was greatly affected by the performance rate of thick aggregates. The compressive strength was measured the highest in the mixture using thick aggregates with the highest performance rate of 20 mm, and the compressive strength of the mixture with the lowest performance rate was more than 45%. As a result of the dry shrinkage measurement, the dry shrinkage was the lowest as the performance rate of the thick aggregate increased according to the change in the maximum dimensions and assembly rate of the thick aggregate, and the lowest performance rate was the largest in the mix. Through this study, it was confirmed that adjusting the particle size by diversifying the maximum dimensions and assembly rate of thick aggregates used in concrete structure repair materials can improve strength and workability and reduce dry shrinkage.

In this study, the mechanical properties of concrete with recycled coarse aggregate (RG) selected by multi-stage wind pressure (MSWP) treatment were evaluated. After evaluating the basic properties of natural and recycled coarse aggregates, the mechanical performance of the recycled coarse aggregates concrete was experimentally investigated. As a result, it was found that the MSWP technique could improve the fundamental properties such as density and water absorption of RG. In addition, the concrete with RG selected by MSWP showed a better mechanical performance, indicating a higher strength values, surface electric resistivity and a lower absorption. Thus, it seems that the MSWP technique can be effective for the production of high-quality RG.

This study analyzed the fundamental properties and strength properties of concrete utilizing Bottom Ash as coarse aggregate for concrete. As a result, compared to non-mixture, the slump decreases about 4.5${\sim}$54.2% as the mixing ratio of Bottom Ash increases. However, influence of the air contents is very little. The bleeding shows similar slump characteristics, and the primary stage of bleeding decreases as the mixing ratio of Bottom Ash increases. As the mixing ratio of Bottom Ash increases, the compressive strength decreases. When Bottom Ash is mixed by 40%, compressive strength decreases about 1.1${\sim}$5.3%. Even when Bottom Ash is mixed over 60%, compressive strength decreases sharply and is revealed about 85.2${\sim}$87.7% of non-mixture concrete strength. To utilize Bottom Ash in large quantities, it is thought that the improvement method of strength has to be discussed such as mixing strengthening element.

In this study, it was determined that it was necessary to consider the replacement rate when applying recycled coarse aggregate to concrete, so data on existing research trends and results were collected and the mechanical properties of concrete according to the replacement rate of recycled coarse aggregate were analyzed. In collecting data on recycled coarse aggregate, data without processes such as compressive strength and removal of residual mortar attached to recycled coarse aggregate were collected among the concrete measurement items. In the case of concrete with 50 % and 100 % replacement of recycled coarse aggregate, it was confirmed that the mechanical properties were lower or higher than ordinary concrete by -36.0 ~ 9.9 % and -40.0 ~ 10.4 %, respectively, on average. Accordingly, it is judged that additional water should be mixed in consideration of the absorption rate when mixing, and the replacement rate of recycled coarse aggregate, which has mechanical properties of 80 % or more compared to ordinary concrete, should be less than 50 %.

Recently, natural aggregate was adequate to supply the demand due to increase of building construction. National pollution induced by construction waste caused by the reconstruction and redevelopment was cited as the major social issues in Korea. Therefore, government are required by law to use the recycled aggregate. In order to consider safety, KS F 2573 recommend that recycled aggregate with below design strength 27MPa and replacement ratio of 30%. This study on flexural behaviors of reinforced concrete beam was conducted and the specimens employed in test were planed with high strength concrete (40, 50 and 60MPa) and recycled aggregate replacement ratio (0, 30, 50, 100%). Although the flexural strength of reinforced concrete beam has trendy to decrease with increase of replacement ratio, it is meet to KCI 2007. The comparison results show that reinforced concrete beam using recycled aggregate can apply as flexural member in building construction.
