The Changes in the Future War Patterns and ROK's Response (미래 전쟁양상의 변화와 한국의 대응)

  • This paper is to analyse the changes in the future war patterns and ROK's response. To this end the paper is composed of 5 chapters titled instruction; concept, characteristics, types, and evolution of war; changes in the war patterns of the future; Korea's response strategies for the future war. Truth can be immutable, but everything else changes. War has begun with human history, and today there are still wars in places all over the world. As ages change from agricultural society to industrial society to knowledge and information society, aspects(patterns) of war have also changed. Future warfare includes the 5th dimensional war(in the ground, the sea, the air, the universe, the cyber), the network-centric, the precision strike, the rapid maneuver, the non-gunpowder, the non-lethal, the unmanned robot, the informational & cyber, the asymmetric, the non-linear, and the parallel etc. In response to these changes in the pattern of wars, the ROK military should seek (1)to build a future-oriented military force, (2)to continuously develop military innovation and preparedness, and (3)to develop and establish a paradigm for acquiring the power of technology. A Roman strategist, Vegetius said, "If you wish peace, prepare for war." This is a universally accepted maxim in international society today. We must never forget that peace we desire is given when we have the will and ability to keep.

Effects of Aspergillus niger-Derived Multi-Enzyme Complex on Performance, Milk Yield, Blood Metabolites, and Manure Output in Multiparous Lactating Sows (사료내 Aspergillus niger 유래 복합효소의 첨가가 포유모돈의 생산성, 유생산, 혈액성상 및 분배설량에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of Aspergillus niger-derived multi-enzyme complex supplementation to feedrestricted lactating sows on performances, milk yield, blood profiles, and manure excretion as compared with ad libitum-fed sows without supplementation of enzyme. Fifty multiparous lactating Berkshire sows were allotted to 5 treatments of 10 sows per treatment during a 28-d lactation period and litter per sow was standardized to 9 suckling piglets. Treatments were ad libitum-fed sows without enzyme and feed-restricted sows supplemented with four increasing levels (0, 0.02, 0.04 and 0.08%) of multi-enzyme complex derived from Aspergillus niger. Blood samples from all sows were collected to determine serum metabolite concentrations before the morning feeding on d 27 of lactation. Litter body weight and a piglet weight at weaning, and litter weight gain significantly (P<0.05) increased with increasing levels of multi-enzyme complex, but there was no significant difference between ad libitum-fed sows without enzyme and feed-restricted sows supplemented with multi-enzyme complex. Body condition score and backfat depth at weaning significantly (P<0.05) increased as multi-enzyme complex level increased. Lactational backfat depth tended (P>0.05) to less decrease with increasing levels of enzyme complex. Serum inorganic phosphorus and non-esterified fatty acid concentrations significantly (P<0.05) increased with increasing levels of enzyme complex. Daily milk yield was not significantly different across treatments, but milk fat yield significantly (P<0.05) increased as multi-enzyme complex level increased. Manure output was significantly (P<0.01) higher for ad libitum-fed sows than for feed-restricted sows, but there was no significant difference among feed-restricted sows supplemented with increasing levels of multi-enzyme complex. Fecal phosphorus amount significantly (P<0.05) decreased with increasing levels of multi-enzyme complex. Feed costs of sows per litter weight gain were reduced by 1.25% to 9.67% with increasing levels of multi-enzyme complex as compared with ad libitum-fed sows without enzyme. The results indicated that multi-enzyme supplementation to feed-restricted lactating sows not only increased litter performances, but also was comparable to ad libitum-fed sows, resulting in reduced feed costs. Moreover, the reduction of fecal phosphorus amount with increasing levels of enzyme complex would contribute to the reduction of environmental pollution.

  • 충청남도 서해안은 생태환경의 보고로서 갯벌, 사구, 해안습지 등 독특한 자연적 특성을 갖고 있는 지역이다. 그러나 다른 지역에 비해 대규모 간척 및 매립으로 인한 해양생태계 피해에 현저히 노출되어 있고, 최근 산업화 및 관광권화가 진행되고 있으며 해안선 침식 방지를 위한 연안정비사업으로 각종 연안 방호구조물이 건설되었다. 이 중 가장 많이 건설된 연안 호안구조물은 배후지역의 안정성 확보, 해안도로의 건설 등 다양한 목적으로 축조되었다. 그러나 성장위주의 경제정책으로 연안 호안구조물이 무분별하게 설치되어 파도와 호안 구조물의 접촉 시 호안구조물이 파랑을 견디지 못해 사면피복재가 산란되어 외관상 주변 환경을 해칠 뿐만아니라 2차 피해까지 야기 시킬 우려가 있다. 본 연구에서는 호안구조물의 리모델링을 통해 안정성을 증대시키기 위해 서해 연안지역의 4개 시 군 29개 지점을 대상으로 호안구조물 현황에 대해 조사하고 호안구조물의 리모델링을 통해 붕괴된 지역을 대상으로 파랑에 대해 안정한 사석재 소요질량을 호안구조물의 경사 별로 산정하여 비교하였다. 피복재 소요질량 산정을 위한 설계파고는 유의파고를 적용하였으며, 산정공식은 허드슨공식(Hudson, 1959)을 사용하였다. 추가적으로 사석 층의 두께와 단위면적당 수용해야할 사석재의 개수를 산정하여 호안구조물 설계 시 사석재의 배치를 용이하게 할 수 있도록 하였다. 본 연구에서 산정된 값들은 초기설계로서 파랑에 안정한 호안구조물의 설계 조건 중 일부분으로 호안구조물의 최종 설계 시 조파실험을 통하여 안정성을 검증 해야 할 것으로 판단된다.

영상정보용 공용데이터링크 표준화 발전방향

  • 미래 전에서는 정보의 중요성이 더욱 부각되고 있으며 정보의 수집 및 전파, 정확한 지휘결심 및 전파, 기동타격체계의 통제 등으로 이어지는 지휘통제의 전 과정을 유기적으로 연결하여, 그 성능을 극대화시키는 것이 네트워크 중심전(NCW: Net-Centric Warfare)의 개념이다. NCW 실현을 위해 개발중인 여러 체계 중 주목 받고 있는 것이 무인기(UAV: Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) 이다. 무인기는 감시정찰, 고정밀 타격, 그리고 전투피해평가 기능 등을 수행하며, 전술적인 상황인식이 가능하게 한다. 무인기가 이러한 임무를 수행하기 위해서는 비행체의 상태정보, 비행체의 조종통제정보, 그리고 임무 탑재체가 획득한 정보의 간단없고 정확한 전달이 요구된다. 이러한 정보를 전송하기 위한 비행체와 지상체간의 제반 통신을 데이터 링크(Data Link)라 하며, NCW 구현에 있어서 가장 핵심이 되는 요소이다. 세계 각국은 영상정보 수집자산으로서 무인기와 데이터링크의 개발에 박차를 가하고 있는 실정이며, 우리 군도 전력화가 계획된 각 제대별 무인기의 통합운용을 위한 영상정보 공용데이터 링크 (MPI-CDL: Multi-Platform Image and Intelligence Commom Data Link)를 개발중에 있으며 지속적인 영상정보 수집자산의 소요증가에 따른 주파수 획득문제와 사업별 독자적인 데이터 링크의 개발을 지양하고 기존체계와의 상호운용 및 단절없는 통신을 보장을 위해 개발과 동시에 국가적 차원에서의 기술구조 표준화가 추진되어야 한다. 이러한 시점에서 본고에서는 먼저 선진국의 (CDL : Commom Data Link) 표준화 동향을 알아보고, 상호운용성과 연동을 위한 한국형 MPI-CDL 기술 표준화방향을 제시하고자 한다.

A taxonomic study on the Fuirena, Kobresia, and Scleria of Korea(Cyperaceae) (한국산 사초과 3속(검정방동산이속, 좀바늘사초속, 너도고랭이속)의 분류학적 검토)

  • Morphological characters of three taxa belonging to three genera (Fuirena, Kobresia, and Scleria) in Korean Cyperaceae were reexamined. The anatomical patterns of stems and leaves, and epidermal patterns of achenes and leaves were investigated by a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and a light microscope (LM). Based upon the results, the scientific and Korean names, which have not been clearly established, were reviewed. Morphological characters such as length and width of stem, leaf, bract, scale, achene, and shape of achene, spikelet, style base, scale, perianth, and anatomical characters such as shape of stem and leaf, shape of achene epidermal cell and silica body of leaf, size and frequency of stomatal complex, presence of bulliform cell were useful for an identification of the three taxa.

Logical Modeling of Base System Model for Tank Engagement Simulation (전차 교전 시뮬레이션을 위한 기본체계모델의 논리 모델링 방법)

  • Tank, which is a representative ground weapon system, is one of the most important weapon systems in each country. For the cost-effective acquisition of a tank based on scientific analysis, the operational concept and effectiveness should be studied based on engagement simulation technology. Besides physical capabilities including maneuver and communication, logical models including decision-making of a tank commander should be developed systematically. This paper describes a method to model a tank for engagement simulation based on Base System Model(BSM), which is the standard architecture of the weapon system model in AddSIM, an integrated engagement simulation software. In particular, a method is proposed to develop logical models by hierarchical and modular approach based on human decision-making model. The proposed method applies a mathematical formalism called DEVS(Discrete EVent system Specification) formalism. It is expected that the proposed method is widely used to study the operational concept and analyze the effectiveness of tanks in the Korean military in the future.

Analysis of Erosion Characteristics for Environment-Friendly Remodeling of Revetment Structures in the West Coast Area of Korea (환경친화적 연안 호안구조물 리모델링을 위한 서해안 침식특성 분석)

  • 충청남도 서해안은 생태환경의 보고로서 갯벌, 사구, 해안습지 등 독특한 자연적 특성을 갖고 있는 지역이다. 그러나 다른 지역에 비해 대규모 간척 및 매립으로 인한 해양생태계 피해에 현저히 노출되어 있으며, 서해안 지역은 최근 산업화 및 관광권화가 진행되며 무분별하게 설치된 호안구조물은 그 기능을 상실하여 상당수가 설치전보다 오히려 서해안의 독특한 환경성과 관광성을 악화시키고 있어 서해안 특성을 고려한 대책이 요구된다. 본 연구에서는 서해안의 특성을 고려한 환경친화적 연안 호안구조물 리모델링을 위해 서해안의 침식특성에 대하여 분석하고자 한다. 분석 방법은 충청남도 서해안의 4개 시 군 29개 지점을 대상으로 1년여에 걸쳐 수행된 현장조사 결과를 바탕으로 서해안의 침식 현황을 파악하고, 기 조사된 서해안 지역의 침식에 대한 자료를 바탕으로 침식원인을 유형화하였다. 조사 분석결과 서해안의 대표적인 침식유형은 직립 급경사 호안구조물의 반사파로 인한 해빈침식(자갈화), 사구 토사포락, 직립 급경사 호안구조물 저면 세굴에 의한 호안구조물 붕괴, 방파제 설치에 의한 침식 등 대표적인 4가지 유형으로 분류할 수 있으며, 침식 유형별 발생지점 수는 총 29개 지점 중 각각 19개 지점, 13개 지점, 5개 지점, 4개 지점에서 나타났다. 이는 호안구조물이 미설치된 곳은 사구 토사포락에 의한 침식 발생빈도가 높았고, 반면에 호안구조물이 설치된 곳에서는 호안구조물의 기능 상실로 인한 해빈침식의 발생빈도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 조사지점으로 선정하였던 29개 모든 지점에서 토사유실로 인한 자갈화가 진행되어 서해안의 갯벌, 사구, 해안습지 등이 유실되고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 이는 최근 기후변화에 따른 해수면 상승과 서해안 특성을 고려하지 않은 정형화된 직립 급경사 호안구조물의 역효과로 피해가 발생된 것으로 나타났다.

Numerical Simulation of Bullet Impact for Fuel Cell of Rotorcraft using Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (입자법을 이용한 회전익항공기 연료셀 피탄 수치모사)

  • Military rotorcraft should be designed taking into account the condition of the fuel cell bullet impact. The internal fluid pressure, stress of metal fitting and fuel cell, bullet kinetic energy can be included as the design factor for the fuel cell. The best way to obtain the important design data is to conduct the verification test with actual product. But, the verification test requires huge cost and long-term effort. Moreover, there is high risk to fail because of the sever test condition. Thus, the numerical simulation is required to reduce the risk of trial-and-error together with prediction of the design data. In the present study, the bullet impact simulation based on SPH(smoothed particle hydrodynamics) is conducted with the commercial package, LS-DYNA. As the result of the numerical simulation, the internal pressure of fuel cell is calculated as 350~360MPa and the equivalent stress caused by hydro-ram effect is predicted as 260~350MPa on metal fittings.

  • Spare engine plays an important role for securing readiness of military strength during unexpected fault occurrences and field/depot planned maintenances. The purpose of this research is to present an approach towards the optimal number of spare engines/modules for diversity of aircraft types. We first reviewed two representative approaches, METRIC and meta model. We then investigated military aircrafts and categorized them into 5 types with regard to the engine type and number of engines/modules per aircraft. Through rigorous investigation of planned/non-planned maintenance of each type, we drew parameters and variables involved. As known, due to the complexity of the problem, it is impossible to develop a simple mathematical model with a closed form solution. Based on the airbase operation and maintenance logic with parameters/variable drawn, we developed a simulation model using ARENA well representing real field exercises. For the optimal solution, we applied OptQuest. It has shown that the program developed generates reliable results through a set of case examples.

Preliminary Analysis on Characteristics of Attitude Control based on Operation Scenario of Small SAR Satellite Mission, S-STEP (초소형 SAR 위성 S-STEP의 임무 시나리오에 따른 자세 제어 성능 예비 분석)

  • S-STEP is a small SAR satellite mission that monitors time-limited emergency targets and military anomalies in areas of interest, achieving the average revisit in less than 30 minutes by deploying a constellation of 32 satellites in low orbit at an altitude of 510 km. The mission operation mode of S-STEP is divided into normal mode, observation mode, communication mode, and orbit maintenance mode. Further,, the attitude control mode is subdivides into initial detumbling, sun pointing, target pointing, ground station pointing, and thrust direction maintenance. Based on the preliminary mission operational scenario and the satellite's characteristics, this study analyzed the attitude control performance during initial detumbling and observation modes. It verifies that each mode's attitude control accuracy requirements within the time allotted by the scenario of the S-STEP achieved.
