A Study of Transient Radiation Effects on Semiconductor Devices (전자소자의 과도방사선 영향 연구)

  • 우주방사선이나 과도펄스(Transient Radiation) 형태의 감마 방사선이 반도체에 조사되면 소자 내부에서 짧은 시간에 다량의 전하가 생성된다. 이 전하들과 증폭된 과전류는 소자의 고장(Upset, Latchup)과 오동작을 유발시키게 되고 나아가 전자부품이 소진(Burnout)되는 직접적인 원인이 된다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 핵폭 방출 과도방사선에 대한 전자부품/장비의 내방사선관련 기초연구로 군전자부품의 감마-과도방사선에 대한 피해분석 시험을 수행하고 나아가 과도방사선 방호기술 체계구축의 필요성에 대해 논하였다. 과도펄스 방사선시험은 군용으로 분류된 반도체 칩을 대상으로 포항 전자빔가속기를 사용하였다. 핵폭발 방출 과도방사선을 모사하기 위해 감마선 변환장치를 MCNP 설계를 통해 제작하고 단일모드의 마이크로초 단위 감마펄스 방사선을 방출시켜 시험대상 칩을 부착한 시험보드에 조사하는 과정으로 실험을 진행하였다. 온라인 고속 측정장치를 통한 전자소자의 과도방사선시험에서 다양한 피해현상을 측정할 수 있었고, 열상카메라 촬영을 통하여 과열상태를 관측함으로써 피해현상의 검증과 더불어 소진현상으로의 전개 가능성을 확인하였다.

The Design and Performance Verification of Real-Time Inspection Equipment Software based on Windows Operating System (윈도우 운영체제 기반의 실시간 점검장비 소프트웨어 설계 및 성능검증)

  • As the recent advancement of military equipment has been accelerated, it is becoming more important to act as an inspection device that verifies the performance of equipment in real time. Most of the inspection equipments were developed on the Windows OS based system. considering development convenience and development period. However, sice the data communication between these models occurs asynchronously, there is a problem that it is difficult to guarantee real-time performance of the window-based inspection equiment. To solve these problems, we use real-time commercial solutions to guarantee the real-time performance of Windows-based inspection equipment. In this paper, we propose a method of designing and implementing the inspection equipment software based on Real-Time implanted Kernel-Multi Processor (RTiK-MP) operating in Windows environment. In addition, real-time performance data accuracy was measured through a high-speed communication tool and interlocking test to verify the performance of the inspection device based on the real-time porting kernel.

Safety Verification of Mounting Flight Video and Data Recorder in the Military Aircraft (군용항공기 내 비행 영상 및 데이터 녹화기 장착에 관한 안전성 검증)

  • In this paper, to increase the research capability of flight missions and maintenance in operating military aircraft, we studied the requirements for additional mounting of flight video and data recorders and safety verification methods. The verification process of the recorder equipment itself, structural safety in the aircraft system, power and electrical safety, electromagnetic compatibility, and impact of airworthiness are described in accordance with military standards and operating environment requirements. In addition, through ground/flight tests, the results of functional operation suitable for the influence and demand of interference between the flight video and data recorder and other systems are also presented.

A Development of Real Time Video Compression System Based on Embedded Motion JPEG 2000 Using ADV212 and FPGA (ADV212와 FPGA를 이용한 임베디드 기반 실시간 Motion JPEG 2000 영상부·복호화 시스템 개발)

  • In this paper, we developed a miniaturized real time video compression system satisfying the military environment using ADV212 and FPGA. We present an efficient hardware design scheme for the weight reduction of the device and also a software solution to deal with noisy image signals. Experimental results show that the frame delay is reduced by a factor of 2 or 3 and the device's weight is decreased by a factor of 6 to 7. In order to prove the reliability for the military usage of this development, we examine the environmental test (MIL-STD-810G) and EMI test (MIL-STD-461F). Experimental results show that the developed system satisfies the requirements.

  • 본 논문에서는 핵폭발과 같은 고준위방사선환경에서의 전자부품소자의 피해평가분석을 통하여 군용전자장비의 내방사선화를 하기 위한 기반기술의 확립을 위한 연구의 일환으로 74AC04(Inverter) IC에 대한 고준위감마선조사시험을 통하여 Co-60 Gamma-ray 선원을 사용하여 총 400Krad[si] 누적 선량에 대한 74AC04 소자의 동작특성 및 전기적 파라메터의 변화분석을 진행하였다. 시험평가 방법 및 절차는 MIL-STD-883G 1019.7[1] 및 ESA/SCC Basic Specification No.22900[2] 절차를 기준으로 하여 동일 lot에 대한 5개의 샘플을 이용하여 동작특성에 영향을 미치는 주요한 전기 적파라메터인 정지소비전류, 입력누설전류, VIL(Maximum Low Level Input Voltage)에 대한 변화추이를 분석하였다. 이번 조사시험을 통하여 입력게이트에서의 누적선량에 따른 TID(Total Ionizing Dose) 효과로 인한 VIL의 감소 추이를 확인 할 수 있었으며 총 누적선량 160Krad 이상에서의 VIL은 허용기준치이하로 감소하였고 정지소비전류의 경우 누적선량에 따른 점진적 증가 현상과 200Krad부근에서의 설계스펙허용치를 초과하는 결과를 확인하였다.

  • In this paper, the TWTA (Traveling Wave Tube Amplifier) maintenance system for the low altitude surveillance Radar was developed using the embedded Linux system, and its superiority was demonstrated through the performance test. Nowadays, the necessity of maintenance system and reliability testing on military equipments has been increasing steadily. In addition, nonlinear characteristics of the maintenance system for the low altitude surveillance Radar are more likely to have serious problems as well as to slow down durability. Therefore, after analyzing characteristics of RF input-output signal and TWTA, we designed interface circuits between the TWTA equipment and the embedded Linux system. The Linux kernel on the system was optimized to improve the efficiency and reliability. And our new TWTA maintenance system was evaluated in the real field. As a result, the proposed system was contented with desired specifications, and demonstrated military's fighting capabilities. Therefore, our novel system will advance military maintenance technology and will help to develop similar equipments.

A Study on Cross Member Strength Improvement of Korean Light Tactical Vehicle (한국형 전술차량 크로스멤버 강도개선에 관한 연구)

  • The chassis of the Korean light tactical vehicle adopts a frame-on-body structure that uses lightweight design technology in terms of equipment operating characteristics. Military vehicles are operated in much harsher conditions compared to civilian vehicles, including mountainous terrain, especially steep slopes. Due to this characteristic, frame-welded cracks were found on some military vehicles. Therefore, in this paper, road damage analysis was conducted by identifying various roads including the military unit's road. The result confirmed that the operating environment of some military units' tactical road was much harsher than the endurance road test condition. A solution was derived through defect analysis, design review, and actual vehicle driving test. This study can be used as a reference by suggesting the development direction for the durability test of a new vehicle.

Consideration of MIL-STD-810G Explosive Atmosphere Test for Fighter Aircraft (전투기의 MIL-STD-810G 폭발성 대기 시험에 관한 고찰)

  • In various environmental requirements of a fighter aircraft, the explosive atmosphere is a test to verify whether or not military products are ignited for the safety of the aircraft system and crew. For the test, the explosive atmosphere test chamber owned by the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH) was applied, and n-hexane, which has more sensitive ignition characteristics than general fuel, was used to conduct the test conservatively. Based on Procedure I, Method 511.6, MIL-STD-810G w/Change 1, the US military environmental test specification, the scope of application, tailoring guide, and detailed test procedures are checked, and the necessity of this test for each subsystem of the fighter aircraft is considered. In this study, we present the correct tailoring method by analyzing the explosive atmosphere test results for the components installed in the fighter aircraft and sharing the derived essential points.

A Study on Quality Improvement through Analysis of Hub-reduction Failure Occurrence Mechanism for Military Vehicles (군용차량 허브리덕션 고장 메커니즘 분석을 통한 품질개선 연구)

  • For the tactical vehicles operated by the Korean army, the hub-reduction portal axle was applied considering Korea's topographical characteristics. Hub-reduction was applied to a Korean military vehicle to increase the vehicle body to secure ground clearance and improve the driving capability on rough roads, such as unpaved and field land by increasing the torque. The Korean military is operating tactical vehicles after various performance tests, including durability driving, but wheel damage occurred in one of the vehicles operating in the front units. Failure analysis revealed many damaged parts, including the hub, making it difficult to determine the cause. Therefore, an analysis of the failure occurrence mechanism for each damaged part was conducted, which confirmed that the cause of wheel breakage was a hub. Furthermore, the root cause of the hub breakage was a crack due to internal pores and foreign matters. In addition, a realistic improvement plan that can be applied throughout the design, manufacture, and shipping stages was presented using the fishbone diagram analysis. The derived improvement plan was verified through unit performance tests, including CAE and actual vehicle tests, and by reflecting this, the driving safety of Korean tactical vehicles was improved. Finally, it is expected that the proposed method for analyzing the failure occurrence mechanism will be used as reference material when analyzing the quality problems of similar military vehicles in the future.

A Study on the Design Improvement to prevent the stoppage phenomenon of Launch Support Device for Self-Propelled Artillery (자주포용 발사지지대의 멈춤현상 방지를 위한 설계개선 연구)

  • This paper reports a design improvement study to solve the stoppage phenomenon caused by the launch-support device applied to K105A1. The K105A1 is a weapon system equipped with an old 105 mm towed howitzer in a wheeled vehicle, which provides superior maneuverability compared to track equipment. The launch support device serves to withstand fire impact and load. In this way, this device is fixed firmly to the ground in preparation for the shooting mission and is responsible for the critical performance, such as fixing the position of the vehicle. On the other hand, during the field test, a temporary stoppage of the launch support occurred, which caused a problem of not being fixed to the ground. To solve this problem, the cause of failure was analyzed by a replay test and parts inspection. In addition, the operating concept, method, and design were analyzed to derive the cause and solve the problem by changing the parts design. Finally, the performance and firing missions were performed normally by applying the changed design to K105A1. The performance stability and reliability of the launch support device were confirmed, which are expected to be of great assistance in the development of military equipment in the future.
