With circular tube heated directly or indirectly placed in a cross flow, heat flows circumferentially by conduction due to the asymmetric nature of the fluid flow around the perimeter of the circular tube. The circumferential heat flow affects the wall temperature distribution to such an extent that in some cases. The effects of circumferential wall heat conduction on local convective heat transfer is investigated. The wall heat conduction parameter which can be deduced from the governing energy equation should be used to express the effect of circumferential heat conduction. Two-dimensional temperature distribution is presented through the numerical analysis. The comparison of one-dimensional and two-dimensional solutions is demonstrated on graph of local Nusselt numbers.

There are no domestic researches of plate fin heat exchanger in the field of cryogenic such as LNG FPSO liquefaction plant. In this study, condensing heat transfer characteristics of nitrogen according to three kinds of fin type in the plate fin heat exchanger were analyzed through simulation and experiment to secure independent technologies. In the simulation, nitrogen was condensed at 69bar and $-140^{\circ}C$ in serrated and wavy fin of plate-fin heat exchanger. The serrated fin shows the highest value of local heat transfer coefficient, followed by wavy and plain fin. The experimental results were shown errors less than 12% comparing with the simulation results.

A ventilated disc brake having spirally fluted surface has been proposed to improve the thermal judder by way of heat transfer enhancement. The local heat transfer coefficients were measured in the flow passage of disc brake. These measured local heat transfer data were utilized to do the finite element numerical analysis which predicts the maximum temperatures on the disc brake. The results show that the maximum temperatures on the disc surface with spirally fluted surface are approximately 26.6% lower than those without them.
In this study, the effect of channel flow in the concave surface on local heat transfer characteristics of array jets was investigated experimentally. A TLC method is employed to determine local heat transfer coefficients on the target plate and also flow visualization has been conducted to investigate the behavior of a row of impinging jets and array of impinging jets. Two different array patterns of impinging array jets devices are tested for Reynolds number(Re=10,000). In a row of impinging jets, secondary vortex is strongly maintained by main vortex at nozzle-to-plate distance of H/d=2. Therefore, the Nusselt number slowly decreased at the mid-way region between adjacent jets. In array jets, the local maximum Nusselt number region move further in the downstream direction due to the increase of channel flow velocity.

When a circular tube with uniform heat generation within the wall was placed in a cross flow, heat flows by conduction in the circumferential direction due to the asymmetric nature of the fluid flow around the perimeter of the circular tube The circumferential heat flow affects the wall temperature distribution to such an extent that. in some cases, significantly different results may be obtained for geometrically similar surfaces. In the present investigation, the effect of circumferential wall heat conduction is investigated for forced convection around circular tube in cross flow of air and water Two-dimensional temperature distribution $T_w(r,{\theta})$ is calculated through the numerical analysis. The difference between one-dimensional and two-dimensional solutions is demonstrated on the graph of local heat transfer coefficients. It is observed that the effect of working fluid is very remarkable.

The buoyancy effects on mixed convection heat transfer over a flat plate surface with unheated starting length is reported. The governing equations are solved by a finite difference method using Patankar scheme and the solution was numerically obtained for various mixed convection parametr $Gr_{x}/Re_{x}^3$, and Prandtl number of 0.7 Local heat flux was measured by using Schilieren Interferometer. The local heat transfer results show that the presence of the unheated starting length can significantly accentuate the effects of buoyancy. The degree of accentuation of the buoyancy effects is strongly influenced by the magnitude of $Gr_{x}/Re_{x}^3$. When the parameter is larger than the order of $10^{-3}$, the contribution of natural convection to the heat transfer coefficients increased significantly due to the unheated starting length. In contrast, when $Gr_{x}/Re_{x}^3$ is smaller then about $10^{-5}$ , the buoyancy contribution is essentially unaffected by the unheated starting length. The shape of the velocity profile is also found to be highly responsive to the interaction between the buoyancy and the starting length.
A two-phase closed thermosyphon with circular fins was used as the heat transfer device for storing the thermal energy in paraffin wax. Experiments were carried out for 4, 6 and 8 fins and for various initial temperatures of the wax and power inputs. Heat transfer characteristics along the heat flow path were investigated as well as the overall performance of the system. Some of the important results are as follows:(1) The thermosyphon heat transfer coefficient and the overall heat transfer coefficient increased with the number of fins, whereas the heat transfer coefficient between the fin and the wax decreased; (2) Facilitation of heat transfer by the fins seemed to alleviate the dry-out phenomenon that had been reported to occur in case of bare thermosyphon; and (3) The horizontal fins had adverse effect of subduing a full scale convection in the wax, and the increase of the number of fins delayed the onset of local convection between the fins.

The purpose of this research is to investigate how the boundary layer separation caused by a tripping wire installed in front of the flat plate affects the transition from laminar to turbulent flow, and consequently mass transfer. A naphthalene sublimation technique is used to measure the local mass transfer coefficients on the flat plate, and two boundary conditions for the developed and developing flow are considered to evaluate the effects of the flow boundary. The local mass transfer data for a flat plate with a tripping wire are compared with the data for a flat plate without a tripping wire. The variation trends of the local heat transfer coefficients for the plates with and without the tripping wire are similar to each other in the case of the developing flow, but are quite different for the developed flow. The average Sherwood number for the flat plate with a tripping wire is much higher than that without a tripping wire because of the boundary layer separation.
With uniform heat generation from the inner surface of the cylindrical heater placed in a cross flow boundary condition, heat flow that is conducted along the wall of the heater creates a non-isothermal surface temperature and non-uniform heat flux distribution. In the present investigation, the effects of circumferential wall heat conduction on convection heat transfer is investigated for the case of forced convection around horizontal circular tube in cross flow of air. The wall conduction number which can be deduced from the governing energy equation should be used to express the effect of circumferential wall heat conduction. It is demonstrated that the circumferential wall heat conduction influences local Nusselt numbers of one-dimensional and two-dimensional solutions.
