In this paper, we design local signals to remove side-peaks in the binary offset carrier (BOC) autocorrelation. Specifically, we first investigate why local signals of the conventional schemes are applicable to either sine or cosine-phased BOC signals, and then, design local signals applicable to both sine and cosine-phased BOC signals. Finally, we obtain two partial correlations and propose a correlation function with no side-peak via a combination of the partial correlations. From numerical results, we demonstrate that the designed local signals are applicable to both sine and cosine-phased BOC signals and can remove side-peaks completely.

Statement of problem: As the number of elders is growing with the advancement of medicine, partially or fully edentulous patients have increased. Medically compromised conditions are common in the older population so that it should be taken into account in prosthetic treatment planning as well as their economic conditions. In the older patients, removable prosthesis has been preferred to implant prosthesis. However, cast metal based removable partial dentures also has several limitations. Purpose: In this report, we present several cases of Valplast$^{(R)}$ flexible denture which were fabricated in patients who had medically compromised conditions or whose remaining teeth showed a relatively poor prognosis. Results & Conclusion: This article describes an alternative treatment for a partially edentulous patient with mouth opening limitation, after cancer surgery, compromised general condition and questionable remaining teeth. In these patients, Valplast$^{(R)}$ flexible denture was used because of its unique characteristics and the results were all satisfactory. Patients had 1-2 check-up and there were no postoperative pain or fracture of denture up to now.

This paper proposes a local improvement method that combines extended topological clean up and optimization-based smoothing for homogenizing triangular grid system. First extended topological clean up procedures are applied to improve the connectivities of grid elements. Then, local optimization-based smoothing is performed for maximizing the distortion metric that measures grid quality. Using the local improvement strategy, we implement the grid homogenizations for two triangular grid examples. It is shown that the suggested algorithm improves the quality of the triangular grids to a great degree in an efficient manner and also can be easily applied to the remeshing algorithm in adaptive mesh refinement technique.

콘크리트의 변형률국소화는 콘크리트의연화거동에 수반되어 변형이 국부적으로 집중되는 현상이다. 본 연구의 목적은 인장과 압축하중상태에서 콘크리트 부재에 발생하는 콘크리트 변형률 국소화 거동을 해석적으로 재현할 수 있는 통일된 모형을 제안하는 것이다. 본 논문에서는 인장과 압축에 대하여 변형률국소화가 일어나는 콘크리트 부재를 변형률 연화가 일어나는 국소화영역과 탄성제하가 발생하는 비국소화영역으로 구분하여 모델링하는 통일된 모형을 제안하였다. 또한 제안된 모형에서 미시역학적 평균화기법을 이용해 평균등가탄성계수와 수정된 평균등가탄성계수를 구하여 시편의 크기와 국소화영역의 크기에 따는 해석을 수행하였으며 기존의 실험값과 비교하였다. 연구결과, 본 연구에서의 변형률국소화모형이 크기효과를 포함한 콘크리트의 변형률국소화거동 해석에 타당하게 적용될 수 있음을 보여주었다.

본 논문은 최소 평균 제곱 오차(minimum mean-square error: MMSE)에 기반한 비국소적 (nonlocal) 평균 영상 잡음 제거기법을 제안한다. 제안하는 기법에서는 기존의 비국소적 평균 기법에 추정 이론을 적용하여 잡음 제거에 사용되는 이웃 블록 또한 잡음을 포함하는 일반적인 경우로 확장하여 이웃 블록에 인가되는 가중치를 적응적으로 조절한다. 컴퓨터 모의실험을 통해 제안하는 알고리듬이 기존의 비국소적 기법에 비해 잡음 제거 성능이 향상됨을 확인한다.

The number of variables exceeds the number of samples in microarray data. We propose a nonparametric local linear logistic classification procedure using orthogonal components for classifying high-dimensional microarray data. The proposed method is based on the local likelihood and can be applied to multi-class classification. We applied the local linear logistic classification method using PCA, PLS, and factor analysis components as new features to Leukemia data and colon data, and compare the performance of the proposed method with the conventional statistical classification procedures. The proposed method outperforms the conventional ones for each component, and PLS has shown best performance when it is embedded in the proposed method among the three orthogonal components.

Purpose: This study was done to evaluate the effectiveness of EMLA cream on pain related to venipuncture among children. Methods: In this study, 48 children were evaluated using a sequential measurement for level of pain by Skin Conductance Level (SCL) based on Galvanic Skin Response (GSR), heart rate, and the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) at four times. Results: The maximum and mean of the SCL were each significantly different between the experimental and control groups and furthermore, the two were also significantly different among observed times. In addition there was a significant interaction between group and time. The children's perceived pain using VAS was not significantly different between the experimental and control groups. There was no significant difference in the heart rate between the experimental and control groups; however, the interaction between group and time was significant. Conclusion: In conclusion, applying topical anesthetic cream to the venipuncture site to reduce pain was effective among the children and therefore it is highly recommended that topical anesthetic cream be applied at the venipuncture site as a nursing intervention to reduce pain when a child has to undergo a venipuncture.

Diagnosis and treatment planning is initial step to fabricate removable partial denture, and one of most important factor influencing the prognosis. Partial edentulous patients have various condition of remaining teeth and oral mucosa. Therefore, for the proper diagnosis and treatment planning for each patient, getting many informations from patients during initial examination and fabricating accurate diagnostic cast are required. Especially, because the use of various diagnostic tools and surveying of diagnostic cast will be a guide for the abutment teeth selection, oral preparation and design of partial denture, dentist should understand and be able to apply this procedure during diagnosis.

Objective : This systematic review aimed to investigate the effect of focal muscle vibration in patients with post-stroke spastic hemiplegia. Methods : We searched literature published between April 2009 and October 2017 using PubMed and RISS databases. The main search terms were Vibration therapy, Focal vibration, Somatosensory, Upper limb, and Spasticity after stroke. Based on inclusion/exclusion criteria, 6 articles were selected. Results : Articles on focal muscle vibration intervention ranged from evaluation of application-only vibration to muscle vibration with task-oriented activity. Intervention effects on upper extremity spasticity and function and activities of daily living were assessed. There were significant effects on upper extremity spasticity, function, and cortical excitability. Conclusions : This study can provide information on focal muscle vibration for use by clinical therapists. However, further studies are needed to identify the optimal stimulation site and frequency/amplitude of application to maximize the effects of focal muscle vibration.
