Analytical Study on the Reinforced Details of Orthotropic Steel Deck Bridge (강바닥판 교량의 보강상세에 관한 해석적 연구)

  • The improvement of stiffness by the increase of thickness of deck plate or the reinforcement of longitudinal rib is one method among the effective methods to control fatigue damages occurring in orthotropic steel deck. It is likely that the increase of stiffness is effective to restrain local deformation caused by axial load in the steel deck. Therefore, in this study, the parameter studies for the reinforced structural details such as the bulk-head plate and vertical rib which is established to reduce the resultant stresses in the connection parts of the longitudinal rib and floor beam were performed with FE analysis. From the results, it was known that the reinforced structural detail with the bulk-head plate in the longitudinal ribs reduced overall the principal stresses at the connection parts, but the stress concentration increased in the weld toe parts which are occurring fatigue cracks. Also, it was estimated that the reinforced structural detail with the vortical rib in the longitudinal ribs because of the reduction of stress concentration in the weld toe parts is more effective details than the bulk-head plate.

  • An electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) instrument attached on transmission electron microscopy (TEM) becomes a powerful and analytical tool for extracting the noble information of materials using the enhancement of TEM images, elemental analysis, elemental or chemical mapping images, electron energy loss near edge structure (ELNES), and extended energy-loss fine structure (EXELFS). In this review, the principle and applications of EELS which is widely used in material, life, and electronic sciences were introduced.

근육 피로도 분석시 사용되는 매개변수들간의 민감도 비교 연구

  • 근전도(EMG:Electromyogram)를 사용하여 국부 근육 피로(Localized Muscle Fatigue)를 정량화으로 분석 하기 위해 널리 이용되고 있는 AR(Autoregressive)모델의 1차 계수, RMS(Root Mean Square), ZCR(Zero Crossing Rate), MPF(Mean Power Frequency), MF(Median Frequency)를 선택하여, 근육이 발휘하는 힘과 시간의 흐름에 따라 근육 피로의 정도를 민감하게 나타내는 매개변수를 규명하였다. 피실험자 10명의 좌우 척추세움근(Erector Spinae Muscle)을 대상으로 등장수축(Sustained Isometric Contraction)조건에서 허리의 신전(Extension)운동을 실시하였다. 이때 발휘해야 하는 힘의 수준은 15%, 30%, 45%, 60%, 75% MVC 로 정하였고 각 수준마다 20초 동안 근전도를 측정하 였다. 데이터 분석은 총20초 구간의 근전도를 0.5초 간격으로 나누어 매개변수들을 각각 구하고 분석을 실시하였다. 시간의 흐름에 대한 피로도 분석 결과, AR 모델의 1차 계수와 MPF가 유의한 차이를 보였으며, 낮은 수준의 %MVC에서는 AR 계수가, 높은 수준에서는 MPF가 민감한 반응 결과를 나타냈다. 그리고 근육이 발휘하는 힘의 정도를 분석하기 위해 주로 사용되고 있는 RMS 보다는 더 AR 계수가 모든 수준에서 뚜렷하게 차이를 보인 것이 확인되었다. 따라서 AR 모델의 1차 계수가 근육의 피로 정도와 힘의 수준을 다른 매개변수에 비해 더욱 민감하게 구별함이 입증되었다. 이러한 결과는 다른 분야에서도 근육 피로를 정량적으로 측정하는데 사용될 수 있을 것으로 생각되며, 개인적 변이도를 고려한 확률 기법을 사용한다면 보다 정확한 근전도 분석이 이루어질 것으로 기대된다.있음을 알 수 있었다. 사료된다.의 결과는 자전거 에르고노미터의 결과가 트레드밀의 결과에 87.60%정도 나타났다.음을 관찰하였다. 특히 vitamin C와 E의 병용투여는 상승적으로 적용하여 간세포손상을 더욱 억제시킴을 알 수 있었다.mance and on TFP(Total Factor Productivity) growth which is a pure measure of firm performance. Experimental Study on the Safety of a Valve for a Special Gas Cylinder (특수가스용기용 밸브의 안전성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • This paper presents an experimental study on the safety of a valve for a special gas cylinder. The test valves that were randomly dismantled from the special gas cylinder were experimented on the gas leakage and operation safeties. The crack, wear and deformation of the valve body, screw thread, safety disk, vent hole, stem and handle components that may affect to the gas leakage safety of a used valve were not found in this experimental study. A painted handle of a valve was partly stripped from the coated surface, and the surface of PT screw of a used valve body was rusted. But, these paint and rust problems do not affected to the gas leakage safety of used valves. And there was no gas leakage in the dismantled valve, and the permanent deformation and partial scars of a valve stem and O-rings were observed on the rubbing surfaces. Thus, the valve seat and O-rings are recommended to be replaced for a gas leakage safety of a dismantled valve. And it is necessary to repair and inspect handle fastening forces for a safe opening and closing operations of a valve.

  • Recently a lot of researches have been conducted on the progressive collapse of structures which is the total collapse of structures initiated by localized damage. Most of the previous studies on the field of progressive collapse have followed deterministic approach without considering uncertainty involved in design variables, which results in unknown reliability of the analysis results. In this study the sensitivity analyses are carried out with design variables such as yield strength, live load, damping ratio, and elastic modulus on the vertical deflection of the joint from which a column is suddenly removed. The Monte Calro simulation, tornado diagram method, and the first order second moment method(FOSM) are applied for the sensitivity study. According to the nonlinear static analysis results, the vertical deflection is most affected by the variation of yield strength of beams. The nonlinear dynamic analyses show that the behaviour of model structures is highly sensitive to variation of the yield strength of beams and the structural damping ratio.

  • For the safety management of tunnel, effective measurements should be continuously carried out. Most of sensors currently being applied for tunnels measure only the local status, thus many of them are needed to monitor an entire tunnel. For the railway tunnel where trains of same conditions are regularly operated, dynamic responses of tunnel structure to train operations can be a good index to estimate the deformation of tunnel structure in wide area. Meanwhile, the electromagnetic interference caused by overhead centenary in railway tunnel obstructs the use of electric-based sensors. In this study a brand new accelerometer using FBG optical fiber sensors is developed to solve these problems. Sensitivity and capacity of the accelerometer are enhanced with effective structural design of its components and verified with laboratory tests. A case history where the developed accelerometers were applied to a safety monitoring system of a high-speed train tunnel is presented. The performances of the developed accelerometers are validated from the measured acceleration data.

탄소와 질소 함량 변화에 따른 type 347 스테인리스강의 피로균열거동 연구

  • 오스테나이트 스테인리스강은 우수한 내식성 및 기계적 특성으로 인해 구조용 재료로 널리 사용되고 있다. 표준원전 경수로의 경우 가압기 밀림관소재로 Nb 안정화 오스테나이트 스테인리스강인 type 347 스테인리스강이 사용되고 있다. 그러나 원전배관에서는 운전중 배관내 온도편차에 의한 열응역과 하중변화에 의한 기계적하중에 의해 피로손상을 받는다. 일반적으로 범용 오스테나이트 스테인리스강(AISI 304, 316)의 피로균열 성장거동에 대한 연구결과는 국내외적으로 다수 축적되어 있으나 type 347 탄소, 질소 함량에 따른 기계적 특성 및 피로균열성장 연구는 매우 미비하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 탄소와 질소의 함량에 따른 기계적거동을 평가하고, 이에 따른 피로균열전파속도를 관찰하여 스테인리스강의 정확한 피로균열전파속도 곡선을 제시하고자 한다. 실험에 사용된 시편은 두께 5mm, 폭 25.4mm CT시편을 사용하였으며, 1mm의 예비균열을 주었다. 그리고 실험온도는 상온과 원전가동온도인 $316^{\circ}C$에서 실시하였으며, 주파수는 10Hz를 주었다. 실험결과 각 함량에 따른 type 347의 미세조직 관찰결과 기지내에 압연방향을 따라 조대한 석출물의 흐름이 관찰되었으며, 크기나 분포가 큰 차이를 보였다. C+N 함량이 낮은 시편은 주로 $0.1\;{\mu}m$ 이하의 미세한 입자들이 오스테나이트 기지조직의 입내와 입계에 고르게 분포되어 있었다. 그러나 C+N 함량이 높은 시편의 경우에는 $0.1\;{\mu}m$ 이하의 미세한 입자들과 함께 국부적으로 $1\sim10\;{\mu}m$의 조대한 입자들이 분포하고 있는 것이 관찰되었다. 그리고 질소의 함량이 높아짐에 따라 인장강도는 증가하였으며, 피로시험결과 고온에서 실험한 피로균열성장률 곡선이 상온보다 높게 나타남을 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고 질소가 적게 첨가되고 탄소의 함량이 많을수록 피로균열성장률은 ASME 곡선보다 낮게 나타났다.

  • Recently, since the advanced nano technology develops unique physical and chemical properties different from those of the conventional materials. Normal concretes mixed with nano - $SiO_2$ have been studied to improve the fire-resistance with high strength and lower heat conductivity. In this pilot study, the nano-particle contents in the specimens (${\Phi}100{\times}200 mm$) were 0, 2, 4, and $6\%$ by weight of cement, and fire-temperatures $200^{\circ}C$, $500^{\circ}C$, and $800^{\circ}C$ were considered. The results show that as the nano-particle contents increases, the weight loss of concrete gradually decreases, and the compressive strength after fire-attack increases effectively.

Development of 2-ton thrust-level sub-scale calorimeter (추력 2톤급 축소형 칼로리미터 개발)

  • A calorimeter of 2-ton thrust level rocket engine chamber has been developed to measure the wall heat flux. The liner of the chamber is made of copper-chromium alloy to maximize the heat transfer performance and structural strength. 1-D design code based on empirical correlations has been used for the prediction of the global thermal characteristics while 3-D CFD has been applied for the verification of local cooling performance. The predicted average wall heat flux at the throat is 43 $MW/m^{2}$ for the combustion chamber pressure of 53 bar. The chamber structure is confirmed to be safe at the pressure of 150 bar through 2-D stress analysis and measurement of the strain of the test species. Finally, the test of pressurizing the calorimeter chamber has been performed with water at the pressure of 150 bar in room temperature environment. No thermal damage has been detected after the hot-fire test in the test nozzle of same cooling performance with the developed calorimeter though the measured throat heat flux is higher than the design value by 10%.

FEM Analysis on the Strength Safety of a LPG Cylinder (LPG용기의 강도 안전성에 관한 유한요소해석)

  • This paper presents the strength safety of a LPG cylinder, which is fabricated by a steel sheet forming and a welding technology. The strength safety of a cylinder is guaranteed by analyzing a stress distribution of a LPG cylinder structure using a finite element method. The FEM computed results indicate that the hydraulic test gas pressure of $31kg/cm^2$ generates a concentrated local stress near the upper round end plate, which exceeds the yield strength of a LPG cylinder. Thus, the current hydraulic test pressure may be rechecked and revised because this pressure increases the fatigue failure and decreases the lift of the pressure vessel. The normal operation and sealing gas pressures such as $9kg/cm^2\;and\;18.6kg/cm^2$ are relatively safe for a steel LPG cylinder.
