  • Rotifers collected from Duung and Gyeongpo wetlands in Korea were investigated. Five species belonging to five genera in four families of monogonont rotifers were identified: Cephalodella ventripes (Dixon-Nuttall), Dicranophorus grandis (Ehrenberg), Lecane undulata Hauer, Taphrocampa selenura Gosse, and Testudinella emarginula (Stenroos). All these species are new to the Korean fauna, even though they have very wide or cosmopolitan distributions. The present study is the first report on the genus Taphrocampa Gosse from Korea. The taxonomy and distribution of each new Korean record are briefly discussed here. The diagnostic characteristics, photomicrographs and the deposition of voucher specimen are provided for each new Korean record.

  • Located 60 km from southern tip of Korean peninsula, Jeju is the largest Island in Korea and composed of volcanic habitat. Twenty-eight species of terrestrial mammals are listed from Jeju Island, of which 1 species and 3 subspecies are endemic. Also, 1 endangered species and 4 invasive alien species of land mammals are listed. Current status, brief history, management and conservation of the 28 species are discussed.

  • In Irkutsk region the plants of spring wheat (Tr. aestivum) grow in three agro-ecological zones: steppe, forest-steppe and subtaiga. Due to this reason, the paper determines the coefficients of correlation between the indicators field germination of seeds, plant safety, productivity, temperature and moisture content of the plant habitat for each zone. The zonal moisture saving features of soil treatment for growing wheat plants (Tr. aestivum) are discussed on the basis of these data.

  • While preparing a floristic study of Korean hepatics, we discovered four unrecorded species collected from Mt. Geumo, Donggang river, Mt. Deokhang, and Mt. Naebyeon in Korea. Plagiochila shangaica Steph., Porella stephaniana (C. Massal.) S. Hatt., Porella chinensis (Steph.) S. Hatt., Solenostoma horikawanum (Amakawa) V$\acute{a}\check{n}$a, Hentschel & J. Heinrichs are reported for the first time in Korea here.

  • Pennisetum flaccidum Griseb. (Poaceae) is native to Central Asia. While monitoring Poaceae weeds nationwide in Korea, we found its new naturalized distribution in Gunsan, Jeonrabuk-do. The species is distinguished from P. alopecuroides var. alopecuroides by subsessile involucres and plumose bristles. We provide the first documented record of P. flaccidum Griseb. for Korea with the description and illustration. We also provide a taxonomic key to the species of Pennisetum in Korea.

  • The genus Dienerella Reitter and its described species are reported for the first time in Korea. Scanning Electronic Microscope (SEM) photographs of habitus and diagnostic characters, and line drawings of male genetalia are presented. All specimens of the species were collected from inside of a building associated with dried collections, but no evidence is available of the damage caused by the species.

  • It was found that a total of 94 species of marine algae, 13 green algae, 24 brown algae, and 57 red algae, are living at the seashore of Oho-ri in this study. 739 voucher specimens for 94 species were made based on plants from March to September 2010 at the 3 islets, including Heukdo, Goraebawi, and Juckdo. Voucher specimens were catalogued and deposited in the herbarium of the National Institute of Biological Resources (KB) of Korea.

  • Four species of opisthobranch molluscs collected from Jeju Island were identified as Pleurobranchus peronii Cuvier, 1804, Pleurobranchus weberi (Bergh, 1905), Aplysiopsis nigra (Baba, 1949) and Stiliger aureomarginatus Jensen, 1993. All of the species and genera examined here are new to Korea. Pleurobranchus peronii and P. weberi were easily distinguished to each species by dorsal tubercles and markings. In this report, we provided descriptions and photographs of these species for identification.
