  • Twelve ciliates were collected from freshwater, marine, and brackish water habitats in Korea and taxonomic descriptions are provided based on observations of living cells and protargol-impregnated specimens. These ciliates, recorded for the first time in Korea, were classified into 12 genera, 11 families, 10 orders, and five classes. We provide brief descriptions and remarks, including microphotographs, for the 12 ciliates: Allotricha mollis, Amphileptus eigneri, Didinium gargantua, Holophrya teres, Lacrymaria marina, Novistrombidium apsheronicum, Pelagostrobilidium conicum, Pseudochilodonopsis fluviatilis, Pseudourostyla subtropica, Strombidium conicum, Urocentrum turbo, and Uronema marinum.

  • We collected three soil ciliates, Colpoda maupasi Enriquez, 1908, Tillina minima Alekperov, 1985, and Gonostomum singhii Kamra et al., 2008, in Korea. The two genera, Colpoda and Tillina, belong to the class Colpodea, and the other, Gonostomum belongs to the class Spirotrichea. We describe these species based on observations of live and protargol-impregnated specimens.

  • Seven species of the families Cybaeidae and Gnaphosidae are reported. Cybaeus auriculatus n. sp., C. parvus n. sp. and Haplodrassus miryangensis n. sp. are described from Gyeongsang-do, Korea. Drassodes platnicki Song, Zhu and Zhang, 2004, Haplodrassus hatsushibai Kamura, 2007, Zelotes eskovi Zhang and Song, 2001 and Z. xiaoi Yin, Bao and Zhang, 1999 are newly recorded to the spider fauna of Korea.

  • Paraplectana sakaguchii Uyemura, 1938 is a ultra rare species belonging to Araneidae worldwide. This species was collected by sweep net between the shrubs at the foot of mountainous region in August, 2012. This species is briefly described and illustrated in this report. The spider genus Paraplectana is also newly recorded to Korean spider fauna.

  • A new species, Zabelia densipila M.-P. Hong, Y.-C. Kim & B.Y. Lee (Linnaeaceae) is described from Gangwon-do, Korea and illustrated. The new taxon resembles Z. biflora (Turcz.) Makino, but it can be distinguished by its different flowering seasons, ovaries with densely long-pilose hairs, and sequence differences in nuclear ribosomal DNA and chloroplast DNA coding regions.

  • Japanese/Korean Amynthas carnosus (Goto & Hatai, 1899) is redescribed from a newly designated Neotype (Tokyo NSMT An435). An annotated synonymy is presented that nominally includes: kyamikia Kobayashi, 1934, monstrifera Kobayashi, 1936, sangyeoli, youngtai, kimhaeiensis, sinsiensis and baemsagolensis - all Korean names by Hong & James, 2001, and Taiwanese monsoonus James et al., 2005. However, Chinese A. pingi (Stephenson 1925) (syn. fornicata Gates, 1935) is maintained separately, at least for the present, until its comprehensive review, possibly extending to DNA barcode differentiation.

  • We investigated five ciliate species from soil, estuary and marine habitats in eastern Gangwon-do Province, South Korea. Morphology was studied through observation of living specimens as well as silver preparations. The species were classified into five genera, five families, five orders and four classes. Aspidisca aculeata, Hemiurosoma similis, Litonotus alpestris, Stentor roeselii and Vorticella infusionum are first records in Korea, and among them, the genus Hemiurosoma is recorded for the first time. Here, we provide short descriptions with microphotographs of these species.

  • The following seven species of soil enchytraeids belonging to five genera were collected from Korea: Enchytraeus buchholzi $Vejdovsk{\acute{y}}$, 1878, Enchytraeus irregularis Nielsen & Christensen, 1961, Fridericia bulboides Nielsen & Christensen, 1959, Hemifridericia parva Nielsen & Christensen, 1959, Henlea perpusilla Friend, 1911, Henlea ventriculosa (Udekem, 1854), and Marionina argentea Michaelsen, 1889 sensu lato. Species were found in soil and litter layers of sites investigated in 2007, 2008 and 2014. Diagnoses or descriptions for these species are provided here with new micrographs or drawings.

  • An Uraniidae moth, Lyssa zampa (Butler, 1869) is newly discovered from southern Korea. One male specimen was collected at a valley of south aspect of Mt. Hallasan, Jejudo in July, 2014. This species is briefly described and illustrated here. DNA barcoding sequence (Genbank KU160388) for the species was provided for species identification.
