세 국가(國歌)의 복잡도 및 장기기억 속성의 비교

  • 우리나라의 애국가(愛國歌), 일본(Kimigayo) 그리고 미국국가(The star-spangled Banner) 등에 대해서 악보가 갖는 고유정보를 카오스적 접근 방법인 근사엔트로피(approximate entropy)와 허스트(Hurst) 지수를 이용하여 각각 음계(scale)의 복잡도(複雜度)와 장기기억속성(長期 記憶 屬性)을 계산하여 비교하였던 바, 애국가가 상대적으로 복잡도에서 가장 높았으며, 세 국가 모두 장기 기억효과가 있는 것으로 나타났는데, 지속적인(persistent) 성향은 일본국가가 가장 컸다.

  • This paper tried to examine the implications of the sites of memory and diaspora memory of the life of Jun Itami(Yoo Dong-ryong), a Korean architect in Japan who is interpellated as Zainichi Koreana adopting theoretical and methodological discussions on memory, sites of memory, diaspora, and identity. To this end, the documentary was selected as the subject of analysis. According to the research results, which consists of a total of 48 scenes, is based on the assumption that the sea and Japan and Korea between the sea are the space of memory, and emphasizes that Itami Jun, who had to live as a borderliner and a stranger is disengaged from the borders of nationalities, territories, and countries. In particular, the story of Jun Itami set the sea as a diachronic space(sites of memory) that penetrates the past and present and explores his diaspora identity. The sites of memory of Jun Itami reconstructed in can be said to be a memory space that makes Yoo Dong-ryong more firmly aware of his diaspora identity as a Korean.

  • It is the responsibility of the government organization in the field of history and archives to control preproduction of records and their production sphere. Moreover, it should also manage all kinds of archives and presidential records as its function is to manage and share public information, and carry out compilations of historical records. With this, this study explains how having all these functions would make the ideal reorganization of the government. It should correspond to principle of Government's reorganization such as transparency, responsibility, communication. A plan for reformation needs two-track approach. I would like to propose the establishment of the 'Ministry of National Archives' or the 'National Memory Committee' at the organization that is in charge of national records and memory management. It means that the National memory isn't limited to public sphere. In terms of Total archives, the organizations should contain the whole community's memory. This organization should be formed independently.

  • Death and the Maiden(1990), by the Chilean playwright Ariel Dorfman, directly addresses the issue of liquidating the past that the transient democratic government of Patricio Aylwin faced, the government established right after the end of the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet. This article focuses on analyzing the aspects of conflicts and discords between memories of individuals as reflected in the conversations between characters of the play. For example. we look into the effects of traumatic memories of Paulina, tortured and raped by the past government, on her everyday life and examine the relationship between her personal memory and the collective memory. We also look into the discourse of the dominating memory through the confession of the rapist doctor Roberto, and observe how Gerardo, a lawyer appointed as a member of the investigation committee, exposes the truth of the case and mediates the conflict of the memories between the two characters. We uncover the problems inherent in the state memory as it tries to intervene in the strife in memories between assailants and victims and explore the possibility that the concept of memory deterritorialization would be an alternative to overcome these problems.

Archival Exhibitions and Photographs in the Age of the Image (이미지의 시대 기록전시와 사진기록)

  • For a society to be constantly sustained, it needs its past memories to be made present into cultural memories. The state of oblivion resulted from the time difference of the past and the present is commonly made present into commemoration days or memorial spaces. Each has its own form of representation it reflects, but all are related to how past is remembered and how it will be formed. Records, especially the authentic records the nation secured, have an ontological feature of proof that is able to persuade the current present of the past present, and inherent in it is faith that originates from fundamental objectivity. Therefore the image of silence that such strictness of records creates realizes the detonation of specific memories through the act of visual exhibition. Hence, this paper endeavors to examine how the national records, particularly the photographical records, was utilized and how it influenced the people and the society after its organization, through analysing examples of memorial spaces.

  • This study started from an interest in the unique history and literature of Okinawa and Jeju Islands. The Battle of Okinawa at a late stage of the Asia-Pacific theatre of World War II, and the indiscriminate violence in the 4.3 Jeju Massacre directly show the shared tragedy of the two islands; furthermore, they are are both located on the frontier of a nation's authority, and thus are symbolic cases. This thesis analyzes Oshiro Tatsuhiro's Island of the Gods and Hyun, Ki Young's Sooni's Uncle, both directly deal with the tragedy of two different but analogous incidents, and question the difference in memory struggle and definitions. Thus, though both novels show a similarity in focusing on and exposing the forbidden memory of mass suicide and massacre, the methods of suggesting the course of memory struggle are different. For example, in contrast to Hyun who took a different approach from the fury, accusations, and violence of South Korea to espoused forgiveness and reconciliation, Oshiro showed the changes in the form of responding to the mainland Japan.

  • The history of modernization of Korea is divided into two folds of the colonial era in the 20's and the economic development era in the 60's. Most of the spaces built in the process of modernization were public spaces developed by the drive of the government. These spaces of modernization are functionality-oriented public places of production and at the same time, and they are the spaces of national power to symbolize the identity of national authorities. Along with changes in the society, modern spaces were reduced down to monument buildings without functionality and this requires new definition to renew the identity of modern spaces. Small stations, power plants, mines, warehouses, abandoned factories, and etc... the study has paid attention to the process of changing thought, one of the main characteristics of modernization, the relations of modern concepts projected in the spaces, framework of modern society, and placeness in the process of framework building and relations of people in the spaces with video records on the process of rebuilding new identity of modern spaces and memories of the spaces. The relations of modern spaces and memory were explored in < Seoul Station > while the relations between modern spaces and records and place identity were explored in < Onyang Folk Museum > and < Okpo Shipyard > respectively. In the relations between space identity and memory in each space, the ironic relations of power in modern spaces (placeness) and personal narrative (memories) were explored with oral narrative and video footage.

A Study on the User Acceptance and Change upon Exhibitions of National Archives (국가기록 전시의 의미화에 대한 이용자 수용과 변화에 관한 연구)

Therefore the image of silence that such strictness of records creates realizes the detonation of specific memories through the act of visual exhibition. This research started from the notion that records achieve social vitality and return through its exhibition, as well as the critical awareness that it 're-mediate' the past and memory through interactions with image. The reason for viewing the archival exhibition as the subject of user analyzation is that in the process where exhibition sorts and arranges records, it is the tool and mediation that most distinctly exposes the identity of the archives. Hence, this research first analyzes national archives, particularly the exhibition of "presidential" records, which is in the center of memory conflict, in the viewpoint of the cultural practice of memory. Afterwards, it discusses empirical research and results on how users accept and resist the meaning of the exhibition through actual surveys of users after their viewing of an exhibition.
