Delayed eruption disorders caused by systemic or local conditions are mostly found during childhood and can be treated with orthodontic forced eruption. When the disorder is not found nor treated during childhood, however, orthodontic eruption might become a difficult option while prosthodontic restoration can be considered as an another option. Considerations for the prosthodontic treatment plan include the extent of tooth loss, interdental mesio-distal space and interarch space, and age of the patient. In this case report, oral rehabilitation of the patient with delayed eruption disorder through zirconia partial fixed prostheses for both maxilla and mandible was performed.
The purpose of present study was to evaluate the polymerization shrinkage stress and cuspal deflection in maxillary premolars resulting from polymerization shrinkage of composites and compomers. Composites and compomers which were used in this study were as follows: Dyract AP, Z100, Surefil. Pyramid, Synergy Compact, Heliomolar, Heliomolar HB, and Compoglass F. For measuring of polymerization shrinkage stress, Stress measuring machine (R&B, Daejon, Korea) was used. One-way ANOVA analysis with Duncan's multiple comparison test were used to determine significant differences between the materials. For measuring of cuspal deflection of tooth, MOD cavities were prepared in 10 extracted maxillary premolars. And reduction of intercuspal distance was measured by strain measuring machine (R&B, Daejon, Korea) One-way ANOVA analysis with Turkey test were used to determine significant differences between the materials. Polymerization shrinkage stress is $\mathbb{\ulcorner}$Heliomolar, Z100, Pyramid < Synergy Compact Compoglass F < Dyract AP < Heliomolr HB, surefil$\mathbb{\lrcorner}$ (P < 0.05). And cuspal delfelction is $\mathbb{\ulcorner}$Z100, Heliomolar, Heliomolar HB, Synergy Compact Surefil. < Compoglass F < Pyramid, Dyract AP$\mathbb{\lrcorner}$ (P < 0.05). Measurements of ploymerization shrinkage stress and those of cuspal deflection of the teeth was different. There is no correlation between polymerization shrinkage stress and cuspal deflection of the teeth(p > 0.05).
Dental composite resin is a kind of the particle - reinforced composite material, and is widely used in recent dental restoration of anterior and posterior tooth region. The purpose of this study was to investigate the fracture behaviour according to volume fractions and external findings of the filler particles for better interpretation of the fracture characteristics of posterior dental composite resins by analytic method of fracture mechanics. The plane strain fracture toughness($K_{IC}$) and Acoustic Emission were determined with three - point bending test using the single edge notch specimen according to the ASTM - E399, and its analyzed data was compared with filler volume fractions derived from the standard ashing test and scanning electron fractographs of each specimen including the unfilled experimental resin as a control. The results were that the value of fracture toughness of the composite resin material was in the range from 0.85 MPa$\sqrt{m}$ to 1.60 MPa$\sqrt{m}$ and was higher than the value of the unfilled experimental resin, and the fracture behaviours dervied from Acoustic Emission analysis show prominent differences according to the volume fraction and the size of filler particles used in each composite resin. The degree of resistance against crack propagation seems to be increase and the fractographs demonstrate the high degree of surface roughness and irregularity according with the increase of fracture toughness value.

The use of composite resin for the posterior teeth gives rise to clinical problem due to the lack of mechanical properties. The purpose of this study was to observe the fractured surfaces of light posterior composite resins which are P-10, Clearfil posterior, Adaptic anterior & posterior, P-30, Lite-fil posterior, Estilux posterior, Helio-molar, and Ful-fil com pules (Table 1). The failure of composite resin specimens of I, T and Y-Type (Fig. 1,2) occured under compression. Fractographical observations by SEM (JSM-T20, JEOL) were carried out in order to examine the fracture behaviour of eight composite resins in different types of specimens. The results obtained from this study were as follows: 1. Similar features were found in fractured surfaces of eight composite resins. 2. The crack growth was initiated at the regions of porosities. 3. The crack propagated on the filler-matrix interface. 4. As the crack increased in size, it accelerated to form secondary crack. 5. The fracture behaviour was dependent on the content, size, shape, and distribution of fillers.

The use of resin composites has continued to increase over the last several years. In spite of their growing popularity, composites continue to exhibit a number of undesirable characteristics. One of the major deficiencies of composite restorative resins is their inadequate resistance to wear. Of the multitude of factors that have been associated with wear, subsurface degradation within the restoration is considered to be one. The aim of this study was to evaluate the resistance to degradation of four commercial composite resins in an alkaline solution. This solution with a high concentration of hydroxyl ions is a convenient medium for accelerated degradation of silane coupling and filler particles. The brands studies were Definite($Degussa-H\ddot{u}ls$ AG, Germany), Prodigy(Kerr, USA), Pyramid(Bisco, USA) and Synergy(Coltene, Swiss). Preweighed discs of each brand were exposed to 0.1N NaOH solution at $60^{\circ}C$. After 14 days they were removed, neutralized with HCl, washed with water and dried. Resistance to degradation was evaluated on the basis of following parameters : (a) mass loss(%)-determined from pre-and post-exposed specimen weights : (b) Si loss(ppm)-obtained from ICP-AE analysis of solution exposed to specimens; and (c) degradation $depth({\mu}m)$-measured microscopically (SEM) from polished circular sections of exposed specimens. The results were follows: 1. Mass loss of Synergy was $1.24{\pm}0.002%$, it was the highest, there was no significant difference among the materials. 2. The degree of degradation layer depth of Synergy was $107.83{\pm}2.52{\mu}m$, it was the highest, there was no significant difference among any other materials than Synergy. 3. There was no difference among the four materials in Si loss. 4. The correlation coefficient between mass loss and degradation depth was relatively high(r=0.06, p<0.05). 5. There was no coefficient correlation between Si loss and mass loss, the degree of degradation layer depth and Si loss. 6. When observed with SEM, destruction of bonding is observed between resin matrix and filler.

Purpose: The importance of occlusal contacts of the natural dentition for durability of teeth, mandibular stabilization, and restorative dentistry is well known. The purpose of this study is to analyze the occlusal contact and guidance pattern of Koreans by evaluating the static occlusion on maximal intercuspal position and measuring dynamic occlusion during straight protrusion. Materials and methods: The occlusal contacts at maximal interincisal position and the occlusal guidance pattern during straight protrusion of 29 subjects were recorded with shimstock foil (Whaledent, Langenau, Germany), T-Scan III (Tekscan Inc., Boston, MA, USA), polyvinylsiloxane registration material (Genie Bite, Sultan Healthcare, Hackensack, NJ, USA) and compared. Occlusal registration procedures were repeated 3 times. The position was fixed to an upright position and the head position was fixed with the Frankfurt horizontal plane paralleling the horizontal plane. Fisher's Exact Test (R-General Public License, ver. 2.14.1) and Pearson's Test were used to assess the significance level of the differences between the experimental groups (${\alpha}=.05$). Results: When using shimstock foil, T-Scan III system, and polyvinylsiloxane registration material, most of the patients showed contact on anterior, premolar, and molar teeth during maximal intercuspal position. Approximately 51% of maximal intercuspal position showed anterior contact using shimstock foil. When examining the protrusive movement using shimstock foil and T-Scan III system, guidance pattern with the central incisor was the most common. Conclusion: During maximal intercuspal position, there were cases in which not all of the teeth showed occlusal contact. During mandibular protrusive movements, one or more maxillary central incisors frequently joined in straight protrusion and the posterior teeth were disoccluded. Therefore, the anterior teeth protect the posterior teeth, and vice versa. Thus, mutually protected occlusion should be applied when reconstructing occlusion.

Trauma from occlusion (TFO) is a pathologic alterations which develop in the periodontium as a result of undue masticatory force. The purpose of this article is to review the controversies about TFO. There are evidences that TFO is a risk factor in the progression of periodontitis. Tooth mobility should be reduced by selective occlusal adjustment. TFO can be developed dependent on the masticatory pattern, occlusion and anterior overbite in sound periodontal conditions. Secondary TFO may aggravate unstable occlusion. If "loss of posterior support" was occur, the problems were worsen. Extrusion, migration, rotation and pathologic deviation can be resulted. Opposite contention is the "shortened dental arch" concept. However, these two concepts persue the occlusal stability together. To treat TFO adequately, exact diagnosis and multi-disciplinary treatment should be needed.
With the introduction of dental implants, restoration of missing teeth with conventional fixed or removable partial dentures is being replaced with implants. Especially, with young patients, not only longevity but also esthetic factors need to be considered. Implant restorations provide long-term success functionally but, esthetic complications such as, marginal exposure due to gingival recession, loss of the papilla and dark color of metal abutments may occur. Recently, zirconia restorations with CAD/CAM technology provide functional, biocompatible and esthetic restorations possible. All-ceramic restorations using the pressed ceramic technique show better fracture toughness values than those of the conventional porcelain veneering technique. Pressed ceramic technique creates the veneer design in wax and the lost wax technique is used to create the restoration. The final contour of the restoration may be controlled during wax-up. A 22-year old female patient was restored with dental implants and zirconia restorations using the pressed ceramic technique presenting short-term but optimistic prognosis.

Prosthodontic decision and management should be considered the patient's aesthetic need for anterior teeth in maxillary edentulism. This case report describes 10-year clinical outcome of a maxillary edentulous patient was rehabilitated by means of an implant-supported fixed dental prosthesis (ISFDP) for the anterior region and a distal-extension removable partial denture (RPD) for the posterior region. The ISFDP was designed to splint 4 endosseous implants as one unit and engaged by the RPD. The edentulous mandible was restored by means of an implant-supported overdenture. Over the course, no major adverse event occurred other than wear, discoloration, and breakage of resin veneers and artificial teeth.

To evaluate the posterior and anterior restoration of polymeric dental restorative composite (PDRC), PDRC was prepared using a silica filler treated by heat at various temperatures. Compressive strength (CS) and diametral tensile strength (DTS) values were investigated to study the effect of a heat-treated silica on the mechanical properties of PDRC using the recommended dental specifications. Both the particle size and specific volume of silica were decreased upon increasing the heat treatment temperature. CS and DTS values of PDRC containing a heat-treated silica showed 1.2 and 1.3 times, respectively, higher than that of the PDRC containing a neat silica. Also, it was found that the lower heat treatment temperature, the better mechanical properties of PDRC were observed because there was less agglomeration between silica particles. Specially, PDRC using a silica treated at $600^{\circ}C$ showed superior mechanical strength.
