A survey on status of quality and risk assessment in dentifrices and mouthwashes (치약제 및 구중청량제의 품질 실태 조사 및 안전성 평가)

  • The quality of the products was investigated by analyzing fluorine content, pH, preservatives and tar colors in 31 dentifrice products (6 items for children) and 15 mouthwash products (2 items for children) marketed. It was intended to provide correct information to consumers by checking whether the standards and product indications match. As a result of measuring the fluoride concentration, 26 dentifrice and 15 mouthwash products contained from 48 to 1,472 ppm and from 85 to 225 ppm, respectively. Fluorine detection rates of dentifrice and mouthwash products were 83.9 and 83.3 %, respectively showing similar levels. Of the 41 fluoride-detected dentifrice and mouthwash products, 40 were 90.7~109.8 % of the displayed amount and suitable for the fluorine content standard of 90.0 to 110.0 %, but one dentifrice was found to be inappropriate at 36.3 % of the content indicated on the product. The pH of the dentifrice was 5.1~9.4, and the mouthwash was 4.2~6.2, which met all standards. As a result of simultaneous analysis of the concentration of six preservatives, benzoic acid was detected the most in 15 cases with a 30.6 % detection rate, sorbic acid was detected in 9 cases (detection rate of 18.4 %), and all four types of methyl p-hydroxybenzoate, ethyl p-hydroxybenzoate, propyl p-hydroxybenzoate, butyl p-hydroxybenzoate were not detected. As a result of analyzing the concentration of 10 types of tar colors, six types including red40, yellow4, yellow5, yellow203, green3, and blue1 were detected in a total of 9 cases (2 dentifrices and 7 mouthwashes) with blue1 being the most frequently detected. Detected fluorine concentration, added preservatives and tar colors were consistent with the product markings and it was well written on product packaging. The detected preservatives and tar colors were at a safe level due to low risk compared to Acceptable Daily Intake.

Proper Planting Density and Depth for Acclimation of Tissue-cultured Bulblets in Lilium Oriental Hybrids (오리엔탈 나리 조직배양구의 순화, 비대를 위한 적정 재식밀도 및 깊이)

  • This study was carried out to investigate proper planting density and depth of tissue-cultured oriental lily bulblets for bulb production. Planting densities of bulblets were 200, 400, 600, 800, 1,000 bulblets/ $m^2$, and planting depths were 1, 3, 6, 9, 12 cm. Proper planting density of tissue-cultured 'Siberia' bulblets was 400 bulblets/ $m^2$ with 87.3% of survival rate, 6.4 cm of bulb circumference, and 8.3 g of bulb weight. For 'Sorbonne', it was thought to be 400 bulbs/ $m^2$ with 88.8% of survival rate, 5.0 cm of bulb circumference, and 7.1 g of bulb weight. Proper planting depth of tissue-cultured 'Siberia' bulbs was 3 cm with 77.8% of survival rate, 5.9 cm of bulb circumference, and 7.9 g of bulb weight. For 'Sorbonne' bulbs, it was 3 cm with 87.1% of survival rate, 5.1 cm of bulb circumference, and 6.5 g of bulb weight.

Quality Characteristics of Mash of Takju Prepared by Different Raw Materials (원료를 달리하여 담금한 탁주 발효 과정중의 술덧의 품질특성)

  • Quality characteristics of mash of takju prepared by different raw materials such at nonglutinous rice. glutinous rice, barley and wheat flour were investigated during fermentation. At the beginning stage of fermentation, ethanol content was in the range of $0{\sim}1.2%$ but it was increased to $9.8{\sim}11.6%$ after 16 day of fermentation. takju that was made of nonglutious rice with starter showed higher ethanol content than any other treatment. At the first stage, pH of takju that was made of nonglutinous rice without starter was 6.57 while other sample showed pH $5.04{\sim}5.80.$ There was no significant difference in pH value between treatments after 2 day of fermentation. Total acid was increased rapidly at the first stage of fermentation, and increased slowly after 2 day of fermentation. Takju that was made of nonglutious rice without of fermentation, and increased slowly after 2 day of fermentation. Takju that was made of nonglutious rice without addition starer showed higher total acid content than the other teratments. Total sugar contents were $19.18{\sim}20.23%$ at the beginning of fermentation, and decreased to $5.21{\sim}14.03%$ after 2-4 days of fermentation. Takju that was made of wheat flour showed higher value of total sugar during the fermentation. Reducing sugar contents of takju decreased with fermentation progressing to $0.2{\sim}0.5%$ after 16 day if fermentation. L value decreased during the fermentation. period and that of takju that was made of barley had lowest L value among the treatment. Alcohols, such as n-propanol ($nd{\sim}0.05\;mg/ml$), iso-butanol (0.02), iso-amyl alcohol ($nd{\sim}0.13$), n-hexanol ($nd{\sim}0.17$), n-heptanol ($nd{\sim}0.09$), and phenylethanol ($nd{\sim}0.02$) were detected. There were no alcohols detected at the beginning of fermentation, but their contents were increased during fermentation.

Efficacy evaluation dental plaque and halitosis removal of mouthwash containing sodium chloride (염화나트륨 함유 구중청량제의 치면세균막 및 구취 제거 효능평가)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of mouthwash containing sodium chloride on dental plaque, gingival inflammation index, and bad breath through clinical trials. Materials and Methods: This trial was designed as 12 weeks and subjects were instructed to put an appropriate amount of the provided standard detergent on a toothbrush and brush their teeth 3 times a day. They were instructed to gargle a mouthwash provided to each group after brushiung. Efficacy was evaluated by performing gingival and periodontal-related index tests, dental plaque changes, and bad breath tests a total of 5 times. All data were statistically analyzed using 2-sample t-test, paired t-test to compare between groups at 95% significance level using IBM SPSS Statistics 24.0. Results: As a result of the PMA index measurement, the gingivitis improvement effect rate of the experimental group compared to the control group was 107.63% after 8 weeks and 73.08% after 12 weeks. As a result of the PHP index measurement, the plaque improvement effect rate of the experimental group compared to the control group was 79.37% after 8 weeks and 74.06% after 12 weeks. As a result of measuring volatile sulfur compounds using Oral Chroma, the effectiveness of improvement in bad breath in the experimental group was 65.06% after 8 weeks and 99.33% after 12 weeks, compared to the control group. Conclusion: As a result of this study, it was confirmed that effective gingivitis alleviation, plaque removal effect and bad breath removal effect can be expected when a mouthwash containing sodium chloride, green tea extract, and sodium monofluorophosphate is used.

Selecting Varieties of Onion Suitable at Southern Part of Korea (남부지역에 적응한 양파의 품종선발)

  • In order to obtain basic information for breeding varieties of onion which is suitable at the southern part of Korea. 222 early mature variety and 219 late mature variety were grown from sep.1993 to jun. 1994 at experimental field of Muan-Gun area, and yield components and yield of onion plant ware observed. Early mature onion cv. Changnyeongchunghwan-gkeukjoseng and Keumjungjoseng showed higher yield than other early mature variety used in the experiment. It showed relatively long plant height and leaf sheath length and, height of bulb and diameter of bulb and high weight of bulb. Late mature onion cv. Chunjudaego showed higher yield than other late mature variety used in the experiment. It showed relatively long plant height and leaf sheath length and diameter of bulb, and high weight of bulb. Therefore, it was concluded that Changnyeongchunghwangkeukjoseng,Keumjungjoseng and Chunjudaego were the most suitable early and late mature varieties with high yield at the southern part of Korea.

  • 가뭄이 매년 지속됨에 따라 고랭지배추 재배지에서도 관수의 필요성이 인식되면서 관수를 실시하고 있으며, 대부분 스프링클러로 관수하고, 분수호스나 점적호스도 일부 이용하고 있으나 아직 토양수분, 토성이나 작물상태, 재배시기 등 환경요인을 고려한 과학적인 수분관리가 이루어지지 못하고 있어 고품질 안정생산을 위해서는 수분관리의 과학화가 필요한 실정이다. 물을 최소화 하면서 관비가 가능한 점적 호스 재배는 적정한 비료를 필요한 위치에 공급하는 방식으로 비료의 효율을 높이면서 환경오염을 최소화하고, 비료과다 시용에 따른 환경오염 등을 회피할 수 있는 좋은 수단이다. 본 연구는 앞으로 고랭지배추 점적호스 재배시 가뭄 극복과 효율적인 시비를 위한 적정 관비횟수를 구명하고자 하였다. 배추품종은 수호를 이용하였으며 관비횟수는 2회(20일 간격), 3회(15일), 4회(10일), 6회(7일), 관행(추비3회) 등 5처리를 두었으며 기준시비량은 N-P-K=32.0-7.8-19.8kg/10a로 하였으며 관비농도는 EC 1.2 dS/m fh 하였다. 시험은 고령지농업연구소 시험포장에서 6월 하순부터 8월 상순까지 무멀칭 노지재배를 하였다. 관비는 정식후 7일째부터 주었으며 관비량은 1회 구당 20ℓ를 주었다. 시험구배치는 단구제 3반복으로 배치하였다. 생육시기별로 초장, 엽장, 엽폭 모두 관비횟수가 많은 처리에서 생육이 좋았으며 6회 처리가 가장 생육이 좋았다. 주당 외엽수와 내엽수는 관행보다는 관비횟수가 많을수록 많아져 관비 6회에서 주당 69.7매로 가장 많았으며 주중과 구중도 관행에 비해 관수횟수가 많아질수록 높아졌으며 관비 6회에서 주중은 2,439g, 구중은 1,917g 으로 높게 나타나, 고랭지배추 관비횟수는 EC 1.2 dS/m 농도에서 6회를 한 것이 생육이 양호하였다.
