An experimental design method was used to optimize the synthesis of gamma-alumina with a superior thermal stability using the reverse micelle method. First, twelve experimental conditions were derived by using the mixture design method to optimize conditions for the ratio of surfactant, water and oil, which are main factors in the synthesis process. When the particles synthesized by reverse micelle method were calcined at $900^{\circ}C$ under the designed condition, they all had gamma-alumina crystal structure although there were differences in particle sizes. The coefficient of determination of the second-order regression model using the derived experimental results was 93.68% and the P-value was 0.002. The synthesis conditions forgamma-alumina with various particle sizes were presented using surface and contour lines. As a result, it was calculated that the smallest particle size of about 2.8 nm was synthesized when the ratio of surfactant/water/oil was 0.3450/0.0729/0.5821.

This study presents an effective stiffness-based optimal technique to control quantitatively lateral drift for tall frameworks using composit member subject to lateral loads. To this end, displacement sensitivity depending on behavior characteristics of tall frameworks is established and approximation concept that preserves the generality of the mathematical programming and can efficiently solve large scale problems is introduced. Specifically, under the 'constant-shape' assumption, resizing techniqe of composite member is developed. Two types of 50 story frameworks are presented to illustrate the features of the quantitative lateral drift control technique proposed in this study.
Several monomeric benzilidene anhydrides (2a~d) haying n-alkyloxy groups with various n-alkyl chain lengths were prepared by Stobbe condensation of diethyl succinate with 4-(n-alkyloxy)benzaldehyde (1a,b) followed by hydrolysis by the succinates and cyclodehydration of the benzilidenated succinic acids. Configurational isomerism of the monomer was investigated by spectroscopic means. It was found that monomers (2a~d) exist in (Z,Z)-isomeric structure. Polymerization was carried out in bulk at 150~$210^{\circ}C$ range in nitrogen flow. The chemical structure and thermal properties of the polymers were characterized by spectroscopic means, TGA and DSC. Their properties highly depended on their chemical structures in accordance with a side chain length.

Li-SGICs as a anode of lithium ion battery were synthesized by high-pressure method as a function of the Li-contents. The characteristics of these prepared compounds were determined from the studies with X-ray diffraction method and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) analysis. From the results of X-ray diffraction, it was found that the lower stage intercalation compounds were formed with increase of Li-contents. The mixed stages in these compounds were also observed. In the case of the $Li_{30;wt%}$-SGIC, the compounds in the stage 1 structure were formed predominantly, but the structure of only pure stage 1, due to the structural defect of synthetic graphite, was not observed. The enthalpy and entropy changes of the compounds could be obtained from the differential scanning calorimetric analysis results. From the results, it was found that exothermic and endothermic reactions of Li-SGICs are related to thermal stability of lithium between artificial graphite layers.

ZnO nanowires were synthesized by the thermal evaporation method and their growth mechanisms were confirmed by the characterization of the structural features depending on the growth conditions. The increase of vaporization temperature accelerates the growth rate and morphologies of ZnO nanowires were drastically changed at the temperature over 1000$^{\circ}C$, because of changed $CO/CO_2$ partial pressure. Au particles play their role on growth of ZnO nanowire as catalyst at growth temperature over 700$^{\circ}C$. The synthesized ZnO nanowires exhibit blue emission at 380 nm.

The stiffness method provides a framework to calculate the structural deformations directly from solving the equilibrium state. However, to use the displacement shape functions leads to approximate estimation of stiffness matrix and resisting forces, and accordingly results in a low accuracy. The conventional flexibility method uses the relation between sectional forces and nodal forces in which the equilibrium is always satisfied over all sections along the element. However, the determination of the element resisting forces is not so straightforward. In this study, a new fiber finite element mixed method has been developed for nonlinear anaysis of steel-concrete composite structures in the context of a standard finite element analysis program. The proposed method applies the Newton method based on the load control and uses the incremental secant stiffness method which is computationally efficient and stable. Also, the method is employed to analyze the steel-concrete composite structures, and the analysis results are compared with those obtained by ABAQUS. The comparison shows that the proposed method consistently well predicts the nonlinear behavior of the composite structures, and gives good efficiency.

This paper suggests an evaluation of risk level for damage of marine accidents in SRRs. This paper intoduces a concept of fuzzy logic with the plenty of related literature riview, fuzzy measure t-seminormed fuzzy integral and in the Korean SRRs of RCC and RSC. The methodology of this paper is max. min composition of fuzzy extensive principle, defuzzifiation is centroid of gravity methods. And final evaluation value using t-seminormed fuzzy integral. At the result, the evaluation of risk level is especially over serious for marine accident of Mokpo, Tongyoung, Yeosu SRRs.. This paper recommends that many rescue vessels and equipments need to the reduction of risk level about those.

This study intends to reduce the weight of structure without changing the dynamic characteristics. At first, the Vibration analysis by the Substructure Synthesis Method and FFM using the ANSYS are performed for the engine speed converter to confirm the reliability of the analyzing tools. Weight minimization is performed by the Sensitivity Analysis and the Optimum Structural Modification. To decrease the converter weight ideally, the parts with low sensitivity are to be cut mainly, and the changing quantity of the natural frequency by the cut is to be recovered by the weight modification of the parts with high sensitivity. As the unique mathematical solution for the homogeneous problem(i.e. 0 object function problem) does not exist, the converter is redesigned with much thinner initial thickness. The goal of this study is to recover the dynamic characteristics of redesigned structure to those of the original one. To say in the other words, the modified structure has the same dynamic characteristics and the more lighter weight to compare with the original one.
Vanadium containing MFI type zeolites have been prepared hydrothermally or by the impregnation method with $NH_4VO_3$ solution after dealumination of HZSM-5. Incorporation of vanadium into the framework of zeolite has been demonstrated by XRD, DTA, FT-IR and ESR analyses. Upon $NH_4VO_3$ impregnation and calcination of dealuminated zeolite, vanadium substitution into the framework could be performed like a hydrothermally synthesized zeolite. Vanadium in zeolite is able to pass redox cycles at high temperatures, and it is shown that vanadium is probably fixed and atomically dispersed in the structure of zeolite. The catalytic benzene hydroxylation, hexanes and alcohols oxidation were used for evaluating the properties of vanadium incorporated MFI zeolite.
