Host-Guest Interactions of Cyclic and Acyclic Polyethers with Alkylammonium Ions (고리 및 비고리 폴리에테르와 알킬암모늄 이온과의 호스트-게스트 상호작용)

  • The interactions of 11 kinds of primary and secondary alkylammonium ions with cyclic (12C4, 15C5, 18C6, DT18C6 and DA18C6) and acyclic$(Q_2O_5)$ polyethers were investigated by NMR titration and conductometry. All of the alkylammonium ions under investigation form the relatively stable 1 : 1 complexes with crown ethers and acyclic polyether by H-bond. The interactions of alkylammonium ions with analogeous hosts having different size were in the order of 18C6 > 15C5 > 12C4, and the strengthes of donor atoms toward the alkylammonium ions were in the order of N > O > S. 18C6 forms more favorable interactions with primary alkylammonium ions than secondary alkylammonium ions, otherwise DA18C6 shows the opposite behaviors. The stability constants for complexations of 18C6 with the alkylammonium ions were determined conductometrically in methanol at 25$^{\circ}C$. The major factors affecting the stability of complexes were the type of alkylammonium ions, the length of alkyl-chain and the steric hindrance due to the structure of alkyl groups on complexation.

Analysis of Settlement Characteristics and Strength of Cement Mixing Ratio for a Backfill Material at a Railway Abutment (철도교대 뒤채움재료의 시멘트 혼합 비율에 따른 강도 및 침하특성 분석)

  • Backfill materials of rail abutment were commonly composed with cement treated aggregate, general aggregate and soil. The friction angle of cement treated aggregate increased up to $40^{\circ}$ or more due to strength enhancement. However, $30^{\circ}{\sim}35^{\circ}$ of friction angle was typically applied for in-situ condition. This phenomenon could cause over-designing, therefore, it is essential to determine reasonable material properties of cemented treated aggregate. In this study, a series of CBR tests and circular model tests have been conducted for cement treated aggregate, while changing cement mixing ratio. Based on test results, characteristics of settlement and strength have been analyzed quantitatively. The settlement of cement treated aggregate decreased with the number of cyclic loading and aging period. In addition, The strength increment ratio in CBR test increased up to 13~16 times at 28 days aging.

Numerical Investigation on the Stability of Reinforced Earth Wall during Rainfall (강우시 보강토 옹벽의 안정성에 관한 수치 해석 연구)

  • This paper presents the results of numerical investigation on the stability of reinforced earth wall during rainfall. A series of limit-equilibrium based slope stability analyses within the framework of unsaturated shear strength, coupled with transient seepage analyses, were conducted with due consideration of rainfall characteristics in Korea. It is shown that the factor of safety of the reinforced wall during rainfall decreases with time due to decreases in the suction in the reinforced as well as retained zones. Also revealed is that the decrease in the factor of safety depends not only on the backfill soil type but also on the rainfall characteristics. Practical implications of the findings were discussed.

An experimental study on the influence of undular bore on the hydraulic stability at Shinwol rainwater storage and drainage system (불규칙 단파가 신월저류배수시설의 수리적 안정성에 미치는 영향에 대한 실험 연구)

  • Deep Tunnel system is a large-scale urban flood control facility installed underground in order to reinforce the lack of drainage systems in developed cities. In a structure like a deep tunnel system, the undular bore generated in the downstream causes a problem in the hydraulic stability of the tunnel. In this study, to investigate the influence of the undular bore on the hydraulic stability at the "Shinwol rainwater storage and drainage system", under construction for the first time in the country, a hydraulic model experiment was conducted on various flooding inflow scenarios. As a result of the hydraulic model experiment carried out in this study, the undular bore generated downstream is trapped in the pipe while moving to upstream, pushes the compressed air. It is judged that overflow occurred by choking the vertical drop shaft in the process when this compressed air is being exhaust through the upstream vertical drop shaft and blocking flood inflow. In addition, the analysis of velocity of undular bore shows that the undular bore transfers energy, and at this time, the pressure rose in the pipe and the velocity increment occurred of the undular bore. Further studies are needed to predict the size and velocity of undular bore, which plays an important role in the hydraulic stability of the tunnel in the deep tunnel system.

  • Recently, the construction industry has lively utilized system forms to improve the work productivity and safety of form work, and the beam table form is one of them. However, the beam table form is used limitedly for the construction of buildings where the same beam size is applied to every floor. To make it possible to apply the beam table form to a building where different beam sizes are designed according to the uses of floors, it was analyzed that among the components of the beam table form, the beam bracket, should be able to flexible adjust the size of the beam form only with simple operation. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to propose the conceptual design of "an adjustable beam bracket for beam table form" that allows the adjustment of beam form size with simple operation and has excellent applicability to construction sites as well. In case this study's conceptual design of adjustable beam bracket for beam table form is fabricated into a real thing, it is expected that the beam table form will be applicable to even buildings where different beam sizes are designed according to the uses of floors, thereby contributing to the improvement in the work productivity and safety of form work.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate performance and safety of structures designed according to current seismic code or provisions (e.g., Uniform Building Code(UBC), NEHRP provisions, etc.) during lifetime of structures. The performance is represented in terns of reliability in this paper. To perform reliability analyses, a large number of time history response analyses for a given structure are usually required. In this study, to perform reliability analyses ground motions are generated based on nonstationary random process and structures are designed based on UBC. In this paper, responses of structures under a given earthquake is evaluated using dynamic nonlinear time history analyses and also an equivalent nonlinear system (ENS) with response scaling factors. The ENS system is described in the companion paper. Therefore, this paper evaluates the seismic performance of structures and also verify the accuracy of ENS.

  • The purpose of this study is to model and analyze retractable large spatial structures by applying parametric modeling techniques. The modeling of wind loads in the analysis of typical structures including curved surfaces can be error-prone, and the processing time increases dramatically when there are many types of variables. However, the method based on StrAuto that was developed in previous research, facilitates the efficacious assignment of wind loads to structures and the rapid arrival of conclusions. As a result, it is possible to compare alternatives with various loads, including wind loads, to determine an optimal alternative much faster than the existing process. Further, it is almost impossible to directly input the wind load by calculating the area of an irregularly curved surface. However, the proposed method automatically assigns the wind load, which allows for automatic optimization in a structural analysis system. The approach was applied and optimized using several models, and the results are presented.

  • 초고속 전력선 통신을 위한 고주파수 대역에서 안정적인 자기적 특성을 갖는 Ni-Zn ferrite를 개발하기 위해서 투자율은 낮지만 주파수 특성이 우수한 $Ni_{0.8}Zn_{0.2}Fe_2O_4$를 기본조성으로 입자를 성장시키는 $Bi_2O_3$를 0.7, 비저항을 증가 시키는 CaO를 0.3, 그리고 입자를 균일하게 하는 $V_2O_5$를 0.1 wt% 첨가하여 미세구조를 제어하고, 다시 고주파 특성을 향상시킬 것으로 기대되는 $Co_3O_4$를 0, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7 wt%로 변화시켜 자기적 특성을 조사하였다. $Co_3O_4$가 밀도 및 미세구조에는 영향을 미치지 않았으나 0.3, 0.5 wt% 첨가시 첨가하지 않은 조성보다 투자율은 감소하였으나 사용 한계 주파수로 여겨지는 공명주파수가 각각 19.905, 19.205 MHz로 크게 증가하였다. 그리고 전체 전력 손실도 $Co_3O_4$를 첨가했을 때 감소하였으나 첨가량에는 큰 변화가 없었다. 와전류 손실이 전체 전력손실에 지배적인 영향을 미치고 있다.

  • 국부세굴은 수공구조물 주변에서의 국부적인 흐름변화가 그 원인이라 할 수 있으며 이러한 변화는 교각 또는 교대의 하상재료를 굴착하여 이동시키는 침식작용의 결과이다. 이러한 교량의 교각 또는 교대, 그리고 교각을 지지하는 구조물에서 발생하는 국부세굴은 교량의 수명과 안정성에 좋지 않은 영향을 미쳐 재산상의 피해를 줄뿐만 아니라 교량 붕괴 사태 등으로 인한 대형 인명사고를 초래하는 원인이 될 수도 있다. 따라서 국부세굴의 경향을 예측하고 분석하는 것은 교량 구조물이나 수중 구조물의 설계에 있어서 매우 중요한 과업이다. 이러한 국부세굴을 예측하고 분석하는데 있어서 국내에서는 일정한 흐름조건에 대한 최종세굴심을 예측하는데 초점이 맞추어져 있다. 하지만 국부세굴은 하상재료에 따라 세굴이 진행되는 속도가 다르며 세굴의 진행은 시간 의존적인데 반해 국내에서의 국부세굴의 예측과 분석은 최종세굴심 산정에 초점이 맞추어져 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 보다 실질적이고 경제적인 국부세굴 경향을 예측할 수 있도록 다양한 하상재료에 대한 시간에 따른 세굴 변화의 특성을 파악하고 분석하였다. 이를 위해 하상재료에 따라 수리실험을 실시하였고, 이를 통해 하상재료에 따른 세굴심의 시간적 변화 곡선을 구하였다. 이렇게 구한 하상재료에 따른 세굴심의 시간적 변화 곡선을 통해 하상재료별 평형세굴심 산정하였고, 산정한 평형세굴심과 기존 세굴심 산정공식을 이용하여 입자별 세굴심을 산정하여 비교 분석하였다.

  • 최근 자동차 배기가스 규제 및 전기자동차, 무인항공기 개발 등의 경량 소재에 대한 필요성이 지속적으로 증가하고 있다. 마그네슘 및 마그네슘 합금은 구조용 금속 소재 중 가장 밀도가 낮은 금속으로서 자동차, 항공, 기계 부품류 및 주방용품이나 전자제품 케이스류 등 다양한 산업분야에서 활용성이 크게 증가하고 있다. 하지만 마그네슘 합금은 화학적 반응성이 매우 크고 표면에 존재하는 피막의 치밀성과 화학적 안정성이 낮아서 쉽게 부식되는 단점이 있다. 따라서 내식성 향상을 위한 표면처리 기술 개발에 대한 필요성이 증대되고 있다. 양극 산화법은 금속표면에 양극 전류를 인가하여 산화피막을 인위적으로 형성시켜줌으로써 내식성을 향상시켜 주는 방법으로서 산업적으로 널리 사용되고 있는 표면처리 방법 중의 하나이다. 본 연구에서는 주석산나트륨의 농도에 따른 AZ31 마그네슘 합금의 양극 산화 피막 형성 거동을 연구하였다. DC 전류를 인가하여 양극산화 피막을 형성하였으며, 피막형성 전압 및 형성된 피막의 두께, 표면 거칠기 및 피막의 구조 등을 분석하여 주석산나트륨 농도에 따른 양극산화 피막의 형성 특성에 대하여 자세하게 고찰하였다.
