Evaluation on the Applicability of Heavy Weight Waste Glass as Fine Aggregate of Shielding Concrete (고밀도 폐유리의 차폐 콘크리트 잔골재로의 활용가능성 평가)

  • The quantities of heavy weight waste glass have been progressively increased because of the rapid industrialization and the change of quality of life. And, the most of them are not recycled. The heavy weight waste glass have been treated by illegal dumping or being buried in landfills. Meanwhile, in order to ensure the safety of nuclear power plant structure, the excellent construction materials are socially required for shielding performance. Concrete is the most widely used construction material, the huge amounts of natural resources are required to make concrete. So, it is needed to investigate the possibility of recycling of heavy weight waste glass as concrete material ingredient. In this study, the heavy weight waste glass was evaluated for the applicability as fine aggregate of shielding concrete. From the results, when heavy weight waste glass was replaced as fine aggregate of mortar, shielding performance can be improved due to increasing in unit weight of mortar. It showed that the strength decreased according to mixing of heavy weight waste glass, Non-Washed heavy weight waste glass is more advantageous in the strength development than Washed case.

  • The objective of the presented study is to develop an efficient procedure of proof load testing for existing bridges. By analytical methods, some of these bridges are not adequate to carry normal highway traffic. However, the actual load carrying capacity is often much higher than what can be determined by conventional analysis. Proof load testing can reveal the hidden strength reserve and thus verify the adequacy of the tested bridge. Proof load level required for meaningful tests should be sufficiently higher than legal load. In the state of Michigan, the legal 11-axle truck can weigh up to 685 kN. In this study, a combination of two military tanks and two Michigan 11-axle trucks was used. The proof loads were gradually increased to ensure the safety of the test. After each move, measurements were taken. For the considered bridge, stress levels were rather low compared to pre-test analysis results. This is due to incorrect material strength, structural contribution of nonstructural components such as parapets and railings, and partially fixed supports.

Development of Prefabricated Slab Panel for Asphalt Concrete Track (아스팔트 콘크리트 궤도용 사전제작형 슬래브 패널 개발)

  • Slab panels are very important to develop asphalt concrete (AC) track for minimizing the roadbed stress due to the train load and reducing the plastic deformation of infrared-sensitive AC. In this study, the slab panel for AC track was developed through the shape design and the indoor performance test and its structural integrity has been investigated through the finite element analysis under the flexural tensile stress and the design moment according to various static load combination by KRL-2012 standard train load model and KR-C code. In order to verify the suitability of the slab panel for AC track, static bending strength test and dynamic bending strength test were performed according to EN 13230-2. Results show that the slab panel for AC track satisfies all the performance standards required by European standards such as crack loads and crack extension.

  • In this study, based on the correlation between traffic volume data and vertical displacement data developed in previous research using the bridge maintenance big data of 2006, the vertical displacement estimation model using the traffic volume data of Gwangan Bridge for 10 years A comparison of the performance of the developed model with the current applicability is presented. The present applicability of the developed model is analyzed that the estimated displacement is similar to the actual displacement and that the displacement estimation performance of the model based on the structured regression analysis and the principal component analysis is not significantly different from each other. In conclusion, the vertical displacement estimation model using the traffic volume data developed by this study can be effectively used for the analysis of the behavior according to the traffic load of Gwangan Bridge.

Verification on the Axial and Flexural Plastic Resistance Analysis of Unconfined Corrugate Steel Sheet and Concrete Composite Section (비구속 파형강판 합성단면의 압축 및 휨 소성해석방법에 관한 분석)

  • For the composite section of corrugated steel sheet and concrete, which is often used in soil structures, a conservative design method based on the ultimate strength state is still applied due to the difficulty of the analysis of compatibility condition. In this study, plastic analysis was performed on the flexural and axial strength of the composite section using two limit state design methods, LRFD and LSD. As a result of the analysis of the experimental results, the LRFD analysis value was interpreted as a conservative results for compressive strength, and it was analyzed that the effect of the concrete compressive strength was greater than the steel ratio of the steel plate. The flexural strength was analyzed to be in good agreement with the experimental results by the LSD analysis. From the parametric analysis on the design variables, the hogging moment, which is affected by the tensile strength of the steel plate, slightly decreased the increasing rate of the strength due to the influence of the bolts connection, but the sagging moment linearly increased according to the increment of steel reinforcement ratio.

Durability Evaluation of Hybrid Expansion Joint System with Improved Replacement (보수성을 개선한 복합형 신축이음장치(HRS) 내구성 평가)

  • Durability was evaluated by performing a full-scale vertical load fatigue test and a wheel load performance test on the HRS, which reduces the replacement time of the existing expansion joint and improves serviceability to allow partial replacement by lane. As a result of the vertical load fatigue test, the maximum stress of the rail-type expansion joint is 170 MPa, which is about 47.8% of the yield strength of the HRS expansion joint rail 355 MPa. The vertical load fatigue test of the HRS expansion joint with improved serviceability set the size and load of the load plate according to the road bridge design standards, did not show any fracture behavior in the vertical load fatigue test and the wheel load performance test 2 million times, and its durability and safety were verified.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop and demonstrate the customized modernization technology of the old aged hydropower generation system in operation Method: The modernization design was carried out based on the daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly information of the power plant in operation at the site. Results: In this paper, a safety diagnosis of existing facilities located in the Philippiness was carried out in accordance with the Special Act on the Safety Management of Domestic Facilities, and a method for reinforcing the facilities was selected. Conclusion: The selection of wheel suitable for the local environment and the maintenance of the old facilities were designed by domestic repair/reinforcement technology.

  • The object of this study is to evaluate the structural shear capacity of the PC girder-PC beam joint. The dapped end of PC beam and the ledger of PC girder are usually designed to design load. If the end of PC beam can be designed with continuous end, the dapped end of PC beam and the ledger of PC girder do not need to resist to all loads except dead load and construction load. The experimental program was carried out with 7 specimens containing the variable factors as the anchored method of the hanger bar, design load, be or not exist of ledger bars. As a result, the continuity of the dapped end and the ledger were ensured their safety although the design load was only the dead load and the construction load. The shear critical section was expanded toward the effective depth d, the distance from the supported position of the beam. If the ledger is designed according to PCI Design Handbook, the structural system of the ledger is as to the cantilever slab system. But the ledger of this study is as to the 3 side fixed slab system. Therefore the design of the ledger by PCI Design Handbook will lead to highly conservative results.

Pullout Tests on M12&M20 Stainless Steel Post-Installed Expansion Anchor for Seismic Design in Cracked Concrete (균열 콘크리트에 설치된 M12, M20 내진용 스테인리스스틸 확장식 후설치 앵커 인장 실험)

  • Recently, seismic design for anchors is required, which are used for connecting structural members and non-structural and structural members. In this study, pull-out tests on the new expansion anchors which have been developed for cracked concrete. The anchors of 12 mm and 20 mm diameters were tested which are commonly used. Experiments were conducted on non-cracked concrete and cracked concrete to evaluate the seismic performance of the post-installed anchor. The experimental method complies with the specified test protocol (KCI, 2018). Three experimental variables are included in this study: presence of cracks, concrete compressive strength, and effective embedment depth. The strength of the anchors was evaluated with the characteristic capacity K5% determined from the test results incorporated with the safety of 5% fractile. The characteristic capacity K5% of the non-cracked and cracked concrete specified in KDS 14 20 54 are 9.8 and 7.0, respectively. Test results show that all groups except the three groups have higher characteristic capacity K5% than the KDS code and the nominal strengths of the tested anchors can be determined with the obtained characteristic capacity K5%.

CAE/피로설계(이영신, MSC Korea), 신소재 및 복합재료(한경섭, 포항공대), 접합부의 강도평가(남기우, 부경대), 신뢰성 평가(진태은, 한전기술), 구조물의 손상평가(신병천, KIMM), NDT 기법 응용(윤동진, 표준연), 전자패키징 신뢰서(이순복, KAIST), 계산역학(박재학, 충북대), 발전소요소 진단 및 평가(박윤원, 원자력안전기술원), RBI-FFS-IT(최지붕, 성균관대), NT 분야(박준협, 동명정보대), 에너지 및 화력발전분야(하정수, 전력연구원)이다. 본 연감의 내용도 위에 언급한 기획 세션 주제별로 나누어 활동 사항을 요약하였다. 일부 논문은 분야가 중복되기도 하지만 본 연감에서는 주요 세션에서만 언급하였으며, 지면 관계상 많은 우수한 연구 활동에 대해 적절히 언급되지 못한 면도 있음을 발혀둔다.
