  • This paper presents a comparison of experimental value by electrolytic tank experimental apparatus and calculated value by CDEGS program for potential rise of structure. When a test current flowed through structure models, potential rise was measured and analyzed for types of structure using the electrolytic tank experimental apparatus in real time, and was computed by means of CDEGS program. The structure models were designed and fabricated with four types on a scale of one-one hundred sixty. When the experimental data were compared with the theoretical values, the similar profile was shown. Therefore, the confidence of measurement was obtained. Potential rise was the lowest value at electric cage type(structure model B). The distributions of potential rise are dependent on the resistivity and absorption percentage in concrete attached to structure.

  • In order to investigate the origin of the band gap in the half-metallic Heusler alloy, $Co_2MnSi$, through the electronic structure calculation, we have calculated the electronic structures for the compounds consisted of parts of Heusler structures, i.e. zinc-blende CoMn, half-Heusler CoMnSi, and artificial $Co_2Mn$, using the full-potential first-principles band calculation method. By investigating the band hybridization and energy gap for the calculated density of states for these compounds, we found that the the origin of the band gap is not consistent with the explanation discussed by Galanakis et al. We have also discussed the magnetism for these compounds by the calculated number of majority- and minority-spin electrons.

  • In this paper, the accurate characterization of the input impedance of a rectangular waveguide with a conducting post and the other discontinuity is presented using mode matching method and the equivalent transmission line theory. By the proposed method, the input impedance of rectangular waveguide with a conducting post and the other discontinuity as a function of the radius and height of the post, the reflection coefficient of the other discontinuity, and the distance between the post and the other discontinuity is calculated. The simulated result shows good agreement with the experimental result by Marcuvitz.

  • We followed and extended the algorithm originally made by Das (1995) to calculate the electric potential and field induced by electric current in arbitrary anisotropic layered structure. We confirmed all the theoretical contents and coded the corresponding program to acquire the electric potential and field. Further we extended to forward estimation of apparent resistivity to be attained by electrical resistivity survey on anisotropic layered structure with differing the electrode spacing and azimuth of anisotropy. The effects of anisotropy were reviewed by considering some examples.
