Information Security Consultants' Role: Analysis of Job Ads in the US and Korea (정보보호 컨설턴트의 역할: 미국과 한국의 구인광고 분석)

  • The demand of information security consultants is expected to increase due to the emergence of ISMS-P incorporating ISMS and PIMS, the implementation of European Privacy Act (GDPR) and various security accidents. In this paper, we collected and analyzed advertisements of job advertisement sites that could identify firms' demand explicitly. We selected representative job advertisement sites in Korea and the United States and collected job advertisement details of information security consultants in 2014 and 2019. The collected data were visualized using text mining and analyzed using non-parametric methods to determine whether there was a change in the role of the information security consultant. The findings show that the requirements for information security consultants have changed very little. This means that the role does not change much over a five year time gap. The results of the study are expected to be helpful to policy makers related to information security consultants, those seeking to find employment as information security consultants, and those seeking information security consultants.

  • Information technologies has been playing critical roles in libraries and the practice of information technologies has expanded to various service areas. This study investigated information technological factors in the qualifications of librarian job ads to identify major information technology skills and experiences for librarians. As the result of investigation, the major preferences for information technology skills and experiences are identified in each group of librarians such as administration and management, reference, technical service.

  • Instruction is an emerging critical factor of library services and the practice of instructional activities has expanded to related various areas. This study analyses librarian job advertisements to identify roles, responsibilities, and job qualifications of instruction librarian. Findings include reference services and collection development are important Parts for instruction librarians' work as well as instructional activities. Knowledge on web and instructional applications are also emphasized in the job description of instruction librarians.

  • To identify key job duties and core competencies of data librarians, this study conducted content analyses of 75 U.S. job advertisements of data librarians and statistical analyses of 105 responses from incumbent data librarians. As a result, the key job duties identified are jobs related to collaboration, workshops, trainings, conferences, data service, research consultation, and research support. Core competencies identified are communication skills, teaching, diversity, inclusion, and equality, data management, and data tool. This study is significant in that it analyzed the key duties and core competencies of the data librarians using the most up-to-date data and opinions collected from incumbent people. It can be a basis for future study such as on job satisfaction, user satisfaction, and perception surveys for data librarians.

  • Database Administrators (DBA) play a role in designing and maintaining database systems. It is one of the Information Technology (IT) jobs in high demand and is important in developing and maintaining Information Systems (IS). Little research has been conducted on the skill requirements for a DBA. By collecting and analyzing job ads posted on the websites of Fortune 500 companies, we investigated the skill requirements needed for today's DBA.

  • 본 연구는 미국의 사서직 구인광고에 실린 임용자격요건을 분석함으로써 대학도서관 참고사서의 역할과 자격요건을 알아보고 이를 토대로 국내의 참고사서의 역할과 자격요건을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 실무업무가 가장 현실적으로 반영되는 미국의 구인광고분석을 통해 참고사서의 역할과 자격요건을 토대로 국내의 참고사서의 자격요건을 위한 기초 자료를 제시함으로써, 전문적인 참고사서의 양성과 그에 따른 교육과정의 준비, 도서관인력관리, 계속교육에 활용될 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

Information Security Job Skills Requirements: Text-mining to Compare Job Posting and NCS (정보보호 직무 수행을 위해 필요한 지식 및 기술: 텍스트 마이닝을 이용한 구인광고와 NCS의 비교)

  • As a sufficient workforce supports the industry's growth, workforce training has also been carried out as part of the industry promotion policy. However, the market still has a shortage of skilled mid-level workers. The information security disclosure requires organizations to secure personnel responsible for information security work. Still, the division between information technology work and job areas is unclear, and the pay is not high for responsibility. This paper compares job keywords in advertisements for the information security workforce for 2014, 2019, and 2022. There is no difference in the keywords describing the job duties of information security personnel in the three years, such as implementation, operation, technical support, network, and security solution. To identify the actual needs of companies, we also analyzed and compared the contents of job advertisements posted on online recruitment sites with information security sector knowledge and skills defined by the National Competence Standards used for comprehensive vocational training. It was found that technical skills such as technology development, network, and operating system are preferred in the actual workplace. In contrast, managerial skills such as the legal system and certification systems are prioritized in vocational training.

  • Demand for information security consulting is increasing as the number of major information infrastructure facilities in the country is increasing and the subject of ISMS mandatory certification is expanded. The demand for manpower also increases, but the manpower to meet the needs of industry is scarce. In order to cultivate the manpower that meets the demand, the demand of the industry should be grasped first. Therefore, this study collected and analyzed job advertisements in Korea and the United States in order to grasp the needs of industry. This will contribute to the development of policy to cultivate human resources of consultants in accordance with the future demand of the enterprise, and ultimately it will be able to solve the quality disparity of security consulting personnel.

An Analysis of the Teacher Librarian's Duties and Competencies Embedded in the IB International School Job Advertisement (IB 국제학교 구인광고에 담긴 사서교사의 직무 및 역량 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the duties and competencies of the teacher librarian required by schools as consumers to operate the curriculum, and to suggest ways to improve their professionality. To this end, the duties and competencies included in 20 job advertisements posted by IB schools to select teacher librarians were analyzed based on the IFLA School Library Guidelines. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the duties and competencies of IB schools are based on the IB curriculum guidelines and this guideline is based on the educational philosophy and learner image that IBO curriculum aims. And the job that schools want the most from the teacher librarian is teaching through library collection management and collaboration, and the main competencies for this are communication and collaboration skills, teaching-learning·curriculum·education design and operation, and digital & media literacy. The results of this analysis show that the professionalism should be based on the vision for the educated person and learner capabilities presented in the curriculum. Based on this results, in this study the ways for developing teacher librarians' professionalism were presented in the following aspects. First, including the educational responsibilities of the school library in the Arrangement and Implementation Guideline of National Level Curriculum. Second, Classifying human resources' duties through revision of the Enforcement Decree of the School Library Promotion Act. Third, reorganizing of basic courses to acquire teacher librarian qualifications and introducing a demonstration of collaborative teaching in the eduactional practice and the certification examination.

Inference about Skills and Requirements for Logisticians from Job Advertisements by Content Analysis (물류업계의 채용공고 내용분석을 통한 물류인력의 자격요건 파악에 관한 연구)

  • This paper provides a comparison and analysis of job requirements in logistics industry. Over 300 job advertisements were collected from online job sites and companies' homepage, and analysed to explore the skills that employers want from job seekers by conducting content analysis. A comprehensive requirements and skills containing 11 main categories and 36 subcategories emerged from 332 job advertisements related logistics. From the analyses we identify that top three requirements for logisticians are more or less the same for industry employers regardless of industry sector. The findings of this study are also valuable for developing a new and up-to-date logistics curriculum.
