The purpose of this study was to examine association between oral health status and perceived general health symptom. We analyzed 14,231 subjects who participated in Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2007~2009). All individuals were examined by a questionnaire about socioeconomic history, smoking and drinking habit, the frequency of daily tooth brushing, the presence of regular dental visit, and EuroQol-5D. Dental survey was conducted to find the decayed, missing, and filled teeth (DMFT) index and community periodontal index. Subjects with perceived problem with mobility had higher DMFT index (odds ratio, 1.18, p<0.001). Subjects with with perceived problem with pain/discomfort had higher DMFT index (odds ratio, 1.16, p<0.001). Self-rating general health symptom was not associated with periodontitis (p>0.05). Perceived general health was associated with DMFT index. It is recommendable that we can use the perceived general health to predict oral health status.
This study aimed to analyze the association among stress, sugar intake behaviors and subjective oral health status and provide basic data for oral health care program related to nutrition education to practice reducing sugar intake. The subjects of this study were 273 high school students, research tool was structured, anonymous, self-administrated questionnaire. The data were analyzed using SPSSWIN version 18.0. Significant positive correlation was found between stress and sugar intake behaviors. Significant negative correlation was between stress and subjective oral health status and between sugar intake behaviors and subjective oral health status. Stress and sugar intake behaviors are related to oral health status. So it is very important to develop oral health program in order to improve eating habit and oral health status of high school students.
This study researched the toothbrushing behavior and perception of oral health condition in accordance with the use of cafeteria, 280 Students of 28 high schools in Daegu and Gyeongbuk to identify the relationship between cafeteria use and oral health. and then obtained statistically significant results like below. Toothbrushing after meals and snacks was high with female students and Grade3. Rinsing mouth for ten times or more after toothbrushing was high with female students and private car while the use of oral care products was high with female students, Grade3, and private car. The whole average frequency of using cafeteria was 2.26 while the perception of oral health condition was 3.44. The frequency of using cafeteria was high with Grade2, before time for school, and lots of allowance. The perception of oral health condition was high with male students, school bus, and lots of allowance. The frequency of using cafeteria in accordance with toothbrushing behavior was high with toothbrushing for longer than three minutes(2.45) while the perception of oral health condition was high in case when using oral care products(3.32). In the results of multiple regression analysis to understand the influence of perception of oral health condition, general characteristics, and toothbrushing behavior on the frequency of using cafeteria, it was analyzed like Y(frequency of using cafeteria)=-952+.393(perception of oral health condition)- 1.721(time for school)+ .991(allowance)+ 1.124(duration of toothbrushing). Based on the results above, it would be necessary to establish the educational system to continuously practice the correct oral health care education in school.
The purpose of this study was to examine the self-rated oral health status and oral health concern of 6,094 adults over the age of 19, which were both related to subjective oral health awareness, based on the second-year (2008) raw data of the 4th National Health and Nutrition Survey. 1. As for subjective oral health awareness, 49.4 percent replied they were in bad oral health when they were asked about self-rated oral health status. Regarding oral health concern, 62.6 percent answered they were sort of concerned about oral health. 2. As to oral health indexes by sociodemographic characteristics, there were statistically significant differences in oral health indexes according to gender, age, academic credential, monthly mean household income, frequency of eating between meals and toothbrushing frequency. Smoking made no statistically significant differences to oral health indexes (p<0.000). 3. Concerning self-rated oral health status by sociodemographic characteristics, no significant differences were found according to gender, age and academic credential, and there were statistically significant differences according to monthly mean household income and smoking (p<0.000), frequency of eating between meals (p<0.018), toothbrushing frequency (p<0.003). 4. In relation to oral health concern by sociodemographic characteristics, gender and smoking made no significant differences, and statistically significant differences were found according to age (p<0.003), academic credential, monthly mean household income, frequency of eating between meals and toothbrushing frequency (p<0.000). 5. In regard to the relationship between subjective oral health awareness and oral health indexes, none of the oral health indexes had a significant relationship to self-rated oral health status, and there were statistically significant differences in oral health concern according to functioning teeth index (p<0.011) and community periodontal index (p<0.017).
This study was conducted to identify the oral health status and management behavior and dental use behavior according to the level of education and income of the elderly, and to present the supporting data to prepare policies and systems for the promotion of elderly oral health. The data survey was conducted on 224 elderly people living in the Daejeon area from August 19, 2019 to October 25, 2019, and the collected data were analyzed by chi-square test and logistic regression analysis. As a result, oral health status and management behavior showed significant differences according to education and income level in denture use, implant use, oral hygiene product use, oral health education experience, and oral health management method. There was a significant difference in dental use behavior according to education and income level, and age, education level, implant use, and the main reasons for dental use were found to be factors affecting dental use. Therefore, it is expected that the quality of life of the elderly's oral health can be improved by preparing an institutional plan at the national that considers education and income level based on this study.
This study evaluated the effect of an school-based oral health program supplied to primary school children in Anyang city. The numbers of the subjects were 311 children in the program participant group and 165 children in the control group which were not in the program. Data were analyzed with t-test, one way ANOVA and pearson's correlation coefficient using SPSS WIN 12.0 program. In attitude, behavior of oral hygiene, participant group was better than the control group. In case of the perceived oral health, satisfaction of oral health, need oral treatment there was no significant difference between the two groups. These results suggest that school children can learn the good attitude and behaviors and oral health promotion can be achived from the oral health program run by shool dental clinic.

The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of the oral health status and health care of elderly people on their self-rated health(SRH). The subjects on this study were 479 senior citizens who were at the age of 65 and up and resided in the city of Busan. They got a dental checkup, and a survey was conducted by having an one-on-one interview. After the collected data were analyzed, the following findings were given: The senior citizens were diagnosed with a mean of 1.43 systemic diseases, and hypertension(51.8%) was the most prevalent disease among them, followed by diabetes(25.1%), arthritis(41.8%), oral diseases(75.6%), stroke(9.0%) and heart diseases(15.9%). Their self-rated health was better when they were male, when they were aged between 65 and 69, when there was someone with whom they lived, when they were better educated and when they owned their own houses. And that was more negatively influenced when they had a denture($\beta$=-1.110), when they had more oral symptoms($\beta$=-1.590) and when they had more systemic diseases($\beta$=3.363). There is a close relationship between the oral health and self-rated health of elderly people. Therefore how to promote their oral health should carefully be considered.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine if self-rated oral health differed according to self-reported oral health behaviors in Korean adolescents. Methods: The raw data of 'The 6th Youth Health Behavior Online Survey' carried out by the Korea Center for Disease Control and Prevention were analysed. Independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Logistic regression analysis were used to assess the relationships between oral health behaviors and self-rated oral health (n=73,238). Results:Oral health behaviors had stronger influence on daily toothbrushing habits. In particular, participants who brushed their teeth in the morning and participants who brushed their teeth more than 3 times a day were more likely to have good self-rated oral (P<0.001). Conclusions: Korean adolescents with high self-rated oral health reported practicing good oral health behaviors. These results highlight the need for the further practicable oral health education programs.
