Results: This study was carried out through the answer sheets and recordings of dental inspection. The findings of this study are as follows: 1. The dental health care knowledge was compared and the results showed that on average 14.2$\pm$2.1 in experimental group and 14.0$\pm$1.9 in the control group were no significantly different (p>0.05). 2. The dental health behaviors were compared and the results showed that the experimental group was significantly different(p<0.05) in terms of the number of times of dental brushing a day, the method of tooth brushing, the time of tooth brushing, the experience of tooth brushing with fluorine, the kinds of snacks and tooth brushing in school after lunch. But there was no significant difference(p>0.05) in the time of tooth brushing and the tooth brushing after eating snacks. 3. The DMF rate was compared and the results showed the significantly difference between the average experimental group and 53.8$\pm$5.0 in the control group(p<0.05). 4. The DMFT index was compared and the results showed the significantly difference between the average 0.6$\pm$2 in the experimental group and 1.4$\pm$1.6 in the control group(p<0.05). 5. The DMFI rate was compared and the results showed the significantly difference between the average 4.2$\pm$8.3 in the experimental group and 9.5$\pm$11.0 in the control group. (p<0.05). 6. The DT rate were compared and the results showed the significantly difference between the average 10.2$\pm$29.5 in the experimental group and 32.4$\pm$44.0 in the control group(p<0.05). 7. The FT rate were compared and the results showed the significantly difference between the average 88.5$\pm$31.0 in the experimental group and 67.5$\pm$44.0 in the control group(p<0.05). Conclusions: Based on the results, above there was no significant difference in dental health care knowledge between both the experimental and the control group. But we discovered that the experimental group is better than the other one in dental health care behaviors and dental health status. Therefore, we could conclude that the school dental health care center efficiently carried out the dental care and treatment. As school dental health care centers did not work out efficiently in terms of their educating on the dental health acre knowledge, the related programs to be developed and supported.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the role of socioeconomic factors and health behaviors on the prevalence of oral diseases(dental caries and periodontal disease) among Korean adults. Data from the 2005 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey was analyzed for adults aged over 19 years (n=25,215). Oral disease was defined as disease diagnosed by a dentist for the previous 12 months. Chi-square test and logistic regression analysis were used to conduct statistical analysis. The population without dental caries and periodontal diseases were used as the reference category for all analysis. The overall prevalence of annual dentist-diagnosed dental caries and periodontal diseases were 23.5% and 10.6% respectively. The relative risk of developing dental caries for graduates of middle school and lower were 1.53 times (95% CI: 1.24-1.89) more likely to develop dental caries comparing to college graduates. Low income earners were 1.23 times(95% CI: 1.01-1.49) more likely to develop dental caries than high income earners. Persons covered by national medical insurance were 1.45 times(95% CI: 1.08-1.95) more likely to develop dental caries comparing to persons covered by employee medical insurance. Compared with persons not eating snacks, the risk of developing caries in persons eating snacks once a day was 1.16(95% CI: 1.01-1.32), while those who snacked twice or more a day were 1.19(95% CI: 1.01-1.41). The relative risk of developing periodontal disease was 3.71(95% CI: 2.38-5.80) higher in older individuals than younger. In terms of education level, middle school graduates and lower were 1.54 times more likely to develop periodontal disease than college graduates. Low income earners were 1.47 times more likely to develop periodontal diseases than high income earners. Using data from a large, nationally representative sample of Korean populations, we support the hypothesis that the prevalence of oral diseases is related with socioeconomic factors and health behaviors. More intensive intervention efforts to reduce the prevalence of dental diseases are warranted in Korea.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide basic information on regional senior welfare policy setting for the elderly in the metropolitan and nonmetropolitan areas and on the development of senior welfare programs on the basis of the data of the 2019 community health survey conducted by Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency. The subjects in this study were 74,547 senior citizens who were at the ages of 65 and over as of 2019 and who were 17,423 from the metropolitan area and 57,124 from the nonmetropolitan areas. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS version 26.0. The findings of the study were as follows: As for the levels of happiness in the metropolitan area, happiness was better in the seniors who were aged 75 and up, who had spouses, whose income was larger and who engaged in economic activity. In the nonmetropolitan areas, happiness was better in the seniors who were aged 75 and up, who were better educated, who had spouses, whose income was larger and who engaged in economic activity. In terms of health behaviors and subjective health levels, more happiness was felt by the seniors who didn't smoke at present, who didn't suffer any subjective stress, who were at higher subjective health levels and higher subjective oral health levels and who had unmet health care needs, no matter whether they dwelled in the metropolitan or nonmetropolitan areas. In the nonmetropolitan areas, however, engaging in intensive physical activity and lower BMI were identified as the factors to affect happiness.
