A Comparative Study of Improvement of Neck Pain According to Hospitalization Period in Patients of Neck pain Caused by Traffic Accident (교통사고로 인한 경항통 환자의 입원 기간에 따른 통증 호전도 비교 연구)

  • Objectives : The aim of this study was to compare improvement according to the hospitalization period of patients with neck pain as a result of traffic accidents. Methods : Patients of 59 cases with neck pain induced by traffic accidents were investigated. Based on their hospitalization period, 59 subjects were divided into two groups: A group with a shorter hospitalization period and B group with a longer hospitalization period. Each group was treated by the same therapies including acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, and herbal medicine. To compare the treatment effects of the two groups, the Visual Analog Scale(VAS) was used. Statistical analysis between two groups was assessed using the chi-square test, Mann-Whitney U Test and paired t-test through the SPSS 12.0 Windows program. Results : After admission treatment, both A and B group showed a significant decrease in their VAS scores. In addition, B group, of which the hospitalization period was longer than A group, showed a significant improvement in comparison to A group in its VAS score. Conclusion : This study suggests that pain control is more effectively achieved in patients that received more than 8 days of admission treatment compared to those who received less than 7 days of admission treatment.

Risk Analysis of VTS operators for Small Vessels Using Collision Risk Assessment Model (충돌위험도 평가 모델을 활용한 소형선박에 대한 선박교통관제사의 위험도 분석)

  • The objective of this study was to analyze the risk of collision accidents to the VTSOs (Vessel Traffic Service Operators) as small ferries and fishing boats are expanded for monitoring targets. The VTSOs was surveyed, the scale of the small vessels defined and the course of general cargo vessels and small vessels along the Busan VTS area investigated for three days. From calculating the risk with CoRI, patterns of increased or decreased risk due to course deviation were similar, and there was no significant difference between the maximum values and the minimum values. In addition, most VTSOs responded that the minimum time required was approximately three minutes to safely instruct in encounter situation, however, the collision risk with a small vessel is very rapidly changing within the three minutes, which is likely to increase the workload and decrease the concentration of the VTSOs. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect on VTSOs with respect to the expansion of small vessels as collision risk, it is expected that it will contribute to the establishment of a suitable scale for the target vessels for VTS through the analysis of each index of the CoRI model and various case studies.

Improved Ship and Wake Detection Using Sentinel-2A Satellite Data (Sentinel-2A 위성자료를 활용한 선박 및 후류 탐지 개선)

  • It is necessary to quickly detect and respond to ship accidents that occur continuously due to the influence of the recently increased maritime traffic. For this purpose, ship detection research is being actively conducted based on satellite images that can be monitored in real time over a wide area. However, there is a possibility that the wake may be falsely detected as a ship because the wake removal is not performed in previous studies that performed ship detection using spectral characteristics. Therefore, in this study, ship detection was performed using SDI (Ship Detection Index) based on the Sentinel-2A satellite image, and the wake was removed by utilizing the difference in the spectral characteristics of the ship and the wake. Probability of detection (POD) and false alarm rate (FAR) indices were used to verify the accuracy of the ship detection algorithm in this study. As a result of the verification, POD was similar and FAR was improved by 6.4% compared to the result of applying only SDI.
