과학영재학교 우수교원 확보를 위한 영재교육 관련 법 개선 방안

  • It is very essential to recruit professional teachers for Gifted Education because the main goals of this school are focusing on the highly advanced technical science fields, enhancing self study and research environment which leads to develop self-directed learning and creative learning. The purpose of this study is to improve of the current Gifted Education Action Law For Teacher Recruitment in Gifted Education. The results of this study are follows; 1. Establishment of Standards for Teachers' Qualification in Gifted Education To recruit professional teachers, they are studied to use the current Gifted Education Action Law and to converse the legal position of Busan Science Academy 2. Developing Professionalism and Improving Conditions of Employment To gualify for Gifted Education, it is necessary to developing professionalism and improving conditions of employment. To provide long-term training and a sabbatical year for research. To make able teachers teach in a school longer than other teachers if teachers agree to it. To pay research funds for teachers for gifted education. To give advantage for gifted teachers in promotion. As the result of study, it has been systemized the standards of recruiting qualified teachers of the Science School for Gifted, has been proposed the ways of developing specialty of teachers and working conditions.

A Study on Korean Teacher Librarians' Perception of Expertise (사서교사의 전문성 인식에 관한 연구)

  • This study is to search Korean teacher librarians' perception level of expertise and to grope for effective alternatives to promote their expertise, based on it. The result is as follows: Although Korean teacher librarians were well-educated on the information management and its related expertise, they consider that, in site, the expertise on school library education and its management is more important. As a result, this study suggests the law amendment of training teacher librarians, and the improvement of their selection system and in-service training.

Characteristics and Implications of Teacher Education System in Canada (캐나다 교원양성체제의 특징과 시사점)

  • This study examines the characteristics of teacher education system and professional standards of teachers in Canada through analysis of the current teacher education curriculum and salary grids of teachers in Canada. As a result, the following characteristics were found. First, contents and theories acquired during the course of teacher education are connected to the actual practice to increase the site-compatibility. Second, professional standards of teachers is rather holistic, than detailed and systematic. Based on the findings, the following implication can be drawn. To enhance the site compatibility of teachers in the Republic of Korea, it is requisite to build a persistent, and cooperative relationship among the faculty members of teacher education program, the members of the community, and supervisor teachers of practicum schools. Also, it is necessary to come up with a system that directly connects the professionalism of the teachers and the salary grids, as the salary of teachers are adjusted according to the completion of degree or courses, reflecting the professionalism.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate teachers' perception of Advanced Placement Program. Participations of this study were 111 teachers from science high schools and gifted science high schools. The results showed as follows. First, teachers perceived positively regarding AP program and were willing to teach AP program. However, teachers perceived that schools were not ready to start AP program. Also, They perceived that teaching materials development, more teachers to teach AP programs, and teacher training programs were needed to set up AP Programs in science high schools. For the professional development, 60-hours teacher training program and incentive system for the AP teachers were needed. Implications of the study were discussed in depth based on the results.

  • 최근 교사가 교직의 전문성을 신장 유지시켜 나가기 위해 수강하는 교원연수의 한 방법으로 원격연수를 선호하고 있다. 하지만 이러한 원격교원연수의 양적 확대에도 불구하고, 학습자의 적극적인 참여 없이 교수자의 내용 전달 수준에서의 연수가 지속되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 능동적인 참여를 함으로써 연수효과를 높여야 하는데 연수의 양적 증가에만 머무르고 있어 원격연수의 질적 개선을 위한 연수자 참여형 원격연수 전략을 제안해 보고자 한다. 이를 위해 원격교원연수의 개념과 배경에 대해 좀 더 자세히 살펴보고 원격연수의 실태를 분석하여 원격교원연수 전략에 적합한 전략을 제시해 보고자 한다.

A Case Study on the Perception and Practice of Elementary Science Teachers' Student Assessment Competency (초등 과학 지도교사의 학생 평가 전문성 인식과 실제에 대한 사례 연구)

  • This study aims to identify the student assessment competency of the three elementary science teachers and investigate strategic measures to improve them. The study progressed as a qualitative case study method. A self-awareness checklist and in-depth interviews were conducted to collect data. The data analysis was reviewed and agreed upon by two process-focused assessment-leading teachers and two elementary science education experts. Consequently, the level of self-awareness of student assessment competency of the three participants was relatively high. However, the scale average of the feedback area was the lowest on average. The student assessment competency of the participants showed different levels and characteristics. Additionally, some inconsistencies between perception and practice were found. Strategic support and education are needed to enhance elementary science teachers' student assessment competency, and the development of self-diagnosis tools should proceed.

  • Since the present training system of Korean teacher librarians is not adequate to strengthen their expertise, the training system should be changed. The purpose of this study is to suggest an improvement of the system, which prescribes their curriculums. To do this, first of all, the requirements for being given a national teacher certification are explored. Secondly, three major previous studies are reviewed. As a result, three subjects have been added to the present curriculum which consists presently of eight subjects. The added subjects are library and information education, information literacy and collaboration and collection development.

  • The aim of this study is to explore the status and tasks of selecting, expanding, and supporting the gifted teachers to efficiently manage the gifted education. This study addresses that the ratio of applications for new teachers is lower and the current teachers are aging in primary school. In addition, it points out that the ratio of new teacher applications and teacher acquisitions compared to the number of teachers hired for middle school were lower. The gifted teachers are basic in their classes and work at regular schools, and they suffer from considerable exhaustion and a lack of time because of other gifted work. As a result of these discussions, it has shown the need for substantial improvement and supplementation such as school hours reduction or reinforcement adjustment, complete support for research society, invitation professional teachers other than current ones, and friday after school classes for the gifted teachers should be encouraged to work passionately. For professional development, if the positive perception and results of gifted education from the interactions between general education and gifted education be formed, and the education programs for gifted teachers be expanded, they will also contribute to the overall improvement in the quality of our education.

An Analysis of Kindergarten Teacher's Understanding and Its Complementary Plan on Activities of Social Relationships & Art Experience Area in the Nuri-Curriculum (누리과정 사회관계 영역과 예술경험 영역의 교육활동에 대한 교원들의 이해도와 그 보완)

  • The goal of this study was to analyze the degree of kindergarten teacher's understanding with respect to educational activities of social relationships area & art experience area in the Nuri-curriculum and to provide complementary materials and educational programs for enhancing kindergarten teacher's professional development. The tool for this study was a number of questionnaires on teacher's understanding in two area. The number of survey participants were 650 teachers and 78 preliminary teachers, 728 in total. Statistical analysis to this research responses was done by SPSS 23 at the significance level of .05, .01, .001 each. Research findings reached a conclusion of proposing differentiated complementary materials and educational programs based on the types of kindergarten, qualification of teachers and their demographics. That is, it should be adjusted to the differences in establishment-operation types of kindergarten, location/size/ages of class, careers/ages/license of teachers, and current-preliminary teacher's understanding. The educational activities of social relationships area should be focused on an attitude of valuing oneself and family by browsing and practicing what one can do for oneself and family. The educational activities of art experience area should be focused on integrated experience of artistic expression and appreciation activities by exploring musical, movement and artistic elements.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze and present the achievements and challenges of the 70th year of the Korean Federation of Teachers' Association (KFTA). The KFTA was founded in 1947 as the Chosun Education Association, and it was the 70th anniversary of its founding in 2017. Throughout its 70?year history, the KFTA, which has emphasized and promoted expertise and professionalism, has continued to improve the professionalism of the teaching profession through research, improve the socio?economic status of teachers, and expand the welfare system in order to improve the quality of teaching and teaching environment. In addition, the KFTA contributed to the development of national education by participating in educational policies to improve education system and educational environment, as well as activities as a professional organization, and has promoted international status through the promotion of international exchange. After analyzing the academic literature and KFTA related data diachronically, this research suggested achievements and challenges as three aspects: the status as teachers' professional organizations, the activities as interests and pressure groups, and the activities as professional organizations.
