  • Takji-oryego (A Review of the Five manners related to the Ministry of Finance) is a book organized by Hojo (Joseon's Ministry of Finance) and the cost and details of royal events held according to five manners. This book contained a lot of information on medicine-related rituals in the late Joseon Dynasty. Thus, it was found that the royal rituals related to medicine include not only childbirth and fertility, but also Heuljeon and Sangjeon. Through this study, the following facts were newly discovered: 1) The time of transcription was between October 1840 and October 1841. 2) Huljeon (Privilege given to save) is also related to the rise of the status of medical officials after King Sukjong. 3) According to Heuljeon, medical bureaucrats in the late Joseon Dynasty had a higher position than other technical officials. 4) The contents of reward were complementary to the existing literature. The date of death of a medical official, which was unknown in previous studies, is documented. In a case like Sansilcheong, there are contents that are unknown through other sources.

  • Objectives : This study was conducted to analyze the trends of international clinical research on acupuncture treatment for trigeminal neuralgia. Methods : A total of 14 clinical researches were selected by using PubMed, an international online database, to search for clinical researches written in English and Chinese. Selected papers were analyzed according to study characteristics, study subjects, acupuncture treatment methods, treatment results, evaluation index, safety, and adverse event reports. Results : Acupuncture was mostly used in combination with other treatment methods. The most commonly used acupuncture point was the 'Xiaguan(ST7)', and 11 acupuncture points belonging to the 'Stomach meridian' were used. In most researches, selection of local points and distant points were taken simultaneously, with some researches taking acupuncture points according to trigeminal nerve branch. There were significant improvements in most outcome measures after treatment compared to pre-treatment, and most adverse events disappeared without treatment or decreased or disappeared after grand therapy. Conclusion : According to this study, acupuncture treatment for trigeminal neuralgia was performed in various ways and was found to be effective and safe. However, it is necessary to confirm more meaningful results by supplementing the limitations of existing researches in the future.

  • Purpose: Autism spectrum disorder impacts children's social, sensory, and language development, necessitating specialized educational support. Special classrooms play a crucial role in providing an appropriate learning environment for children with autism. However, there is a lack of systematic research on creating effective environments in these special classrooms. Methods: This study aims to gain a comprehensive and systematic understanding of the environmental composition of special classrooms for children with autism spectrum disorder, using the following systematic methodologies including literature review and case study. Results: Sensory spaces in special classrooms for children with autism help regulate sensory stimuli and promote sensory development. They provide stability, reducing stress from excessive stimuli, and enhance emotional stability. These spaces also promote communication and interaction among children and expand the diversity of learning activities, enriching experiences and stimulating interest in learning. Implications: Based on the results, we propose suggestions for improving the environment of special classrooms for children with autism spectrum disorder and provide direction for the design of such environments.

  • Appropriate sedation and analgesia are crucial for successful endoscopic procedures, patient safety, and satisfaction. Endoscopic resection for upper gastrointestinal tumors requires a deep sedation level because the procedure is lengthy and induces moderate to severe pain. Continuous patient consciousness assessment and vigilant vital signs monitoring are required for deep sedation. General anesthesia may unintentionally occur even during deep sedation for endoscopic tumor resection, which may cause unexpected complications, especially in high-risk patients. Previous studies have revealed that general anesthesia increases the en bloc resection rate and decreases the procedure time. Complications, such as perforation, aspiration pneumonia, and cardiopulmonary instability, including hypoxemia, hypotension, and arrhythmia, occurred more frequently in patients with sedation compared to those with general anesthesia. Therefore, general anesthesia demonstrated potential benefits in endoscopic treatment results and patient safety. General anesthesia should be considered a useful alternative for sedation in patients undergoing endoscopic gastrointestinal tumor resection. However, more high-quality prospective studies are required to determine the safety and effectiveness of general anesthesia in endoscopic upper gastrointestinal tumor resection because most studies comparing general anesthesia and sedation in these procedures have been retrospectively conducted and the results were inconsistent.

  • The linear no-threshold (LNT) model is an assumption that explains the dose-response relationship for health risks, allowing for linear extrapolation from high doses to low doses without a threshold. The selection of an appropriate model for low-dose risk evaluation is a critical component in the risk assessment process for hazardous agents. This paper reviews the LNT model in light of epidemiological evidence from major international consortia studying ionizing radiation. From a scientific perspective, substantial evidence supporting the LNT model has been observed in epidemiological studies of low-dose ionizing radiation exposure, although some findings suggest non-linear dose relationships for certain cancer sites and variations across populations. From a practical standpoint, the LNT remains the most useful model for radiation protection purposes, with no alternative dose-response relationship proving more appropriate. It is important to note that the LNT model does not directly reflect the magnitude of risk at the population level, and this distinction should be clearly communicated to the public. While applying the LNT model as the principal basis for radiation protection, continuous research into various dose-response relationships is crucial for advancing our understanding.

  • This study conducted a 15-week experiment on 236 students who took a major in engineering to find out the impact of learning through flipped learning on their academic performance. Previous flipped learning studies have largely been tested on learning motivation or learning satisfaction through questionnaires, and few have compared academic performance differences. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the increase and decrease in academic performance in the flipped learning classroom. Studies have shown significant differences that is a big difference between the academic performance of the experimental group appling flipped learning and the control group appling traditional lecture-style classes, and the academic performance of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group. This can be said to have a positive effect on academic performance. Therefore, it is hoped that the flip learning method will be expanded in all curriculums.

  • Due to a lack of teachers and available classrooms, high school students are not able to take the elective courses of their choice. In order to solve this problem with online instruction, I have used the following methods: First, I conducted a literature study to examine the concepts and models of online instruction. Second, I compared the number of students who took the CSAT subject tests with the number of students who enrolled in optional courses through KEDI's Education Statistics Services. Using the data gathered from this comparison, I could predict the demand for each optional course. Finally, I proposed amending the Elementary and Secondary Education Act; the Enforcement Decree of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act; the General Statement Curriculum of High Schools; and the Guidelines for Recording School through the expert interviews for on-line instruction in order to establish online instruction for high school students.

  • The portability and immediate communication properties of mobile devices such as UMPC influence the learning processes in interacting with peers, accessing resources and transferring data. This study explores the pedagogical potential of UMPC, being utilized in inquiry-based learning process in elementary school setting. Inquiry-based teaming, offering a powerful option for occasional projects and lab activities, is a style particularly well-suited for out-of-school programs because they have a freer hand to complement, enhance, and expand on the work that children are doing in their K-12 classes. A set of questionnaires measuring the level of interest and class achievement were answered by the students before and after the inquiry-based science class in elementary school. Statistical results show that most of the students prefer UPMC-based class to the traditional class. Some guidelines for effective UPMC-based class are also provided.
